Pat Martino
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 พ.ย. 2021
One of the most original of the jazz-based guitarists to emerge in the 1960s, Pat Martino made a remarkable comeback after brain surgery in 1980 to correct an aneurysm that caused him to lose his memory and completely forget how to play. It took years, but he regained his ability, partly by listening to his older records. Martino began playing professionally when he was 15. He worked early on with groups led by Willis Jackson, Red Holloway, and a series of organists including Don Patterson, Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, and Jimmy McGriff. After playing with John Handy (1966), he started leading his own bands and heading sessions for Prestige, Muse, and Warner Bros. that found him welcoming the influences of avant-garde jazz, rock, pop, and world music into his advanced hard bop style.

Sensacional👏👏👏
LOVE this collection. Thanks!
Brilliant and tasteful
Steady as an atomic clock. All the rhythm combo.
Thanks for this. I want to point out that PM playing his own stuff - Desperado, Great Stream, Joyous Lake, etc. Is much more interesting, imo, than bebop standards.
Sherman Ferguson on drums.
An OVNI...this story it's incredible . For me he is like Sixto Rodriges. The devil blue song. Respect. Diablo la mano. Miles davis Chet Faker, wes mongomerie, stay ray vauhgan, Jimmy hendrix, etc

Hello. Does anybody know if Pat Martino was reading music after losing his memory? I'd really love to find out
I think he said he re learned it but I’m not sure
Grande Pat...super 👍🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸
How does Y.T. get away with putting an add right in the middle of a song...
Je trouve le bassiste bavard mais guère chantant. Ce n edt que mon avis...
Un des plus beau chorus jamais enregistré

Awesome ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Perda irreparável...
I remember, that Pat still liked this solo, visiting his home in autumn 89.
Cool to know. A real legend unlike a lot of contemporaries who sold themselves out for money. He felt good when I told him that was what counted.
❤
So Beautiful😫❤❤❤❤❤
It’s very beautiful
