Savannah Convention Center McKeon H250 Walk-Through

John Thorpe conducts owner’s training at our recently completed Horizontal
Fire Door for the Savannah Convention Center.
This @MckeonDoor model H250 is unique as it protects a large opening in the
floor from fire, but also curves over the convention center’s giant escalator
handrails to seal against the floor.
This horizontal fire door separates the lower
two floors from the top floor, compartmentalizing the vertical space. Hence, the
three floors are no longer in common and are no longer considered an atrium.
The design saved a large sum of money by pulling the space out of the atrium
classification, while still providing the intended vertical connection the architects
originally designed.
