the easiest way to clean a sugar based liquid damage is water and dry very well at the end

It appears as if your probe is shorting the pins. The mosfet you changed has to be turned on by a controller chip. Check the gate and follow it's circuitry, maybe with the schematic and please, don't bridge components ...
