    This device really needs to be paired with a controller software. I like how they preach, just launch an app, well what if your device doesn't have an app or what if you're watching TV and you have an app open to control that device, then you need to change volume quick and or mute it because you have a phone call, you have to close down (minimize) one app, open another app just to change volume, all this can take time, especially when a lot of IP controlled devices can take a second or two to connect to the app. Some apps like the one Dennon puts out for their receives do not stay connected to the device when their app is minimized, can take time to reconnect once you open it back up. Plus, there is the price tag, I feel this is way too expensive for being an android device. I get what they are trying but too much money, especially when they do not have a controller app designed for it.

    • @smashtech801
      @smashtech801 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! thanks for your comment! As of right now, this device doesn't need a controller. it utilizes the native apps you decide to use with it. But we do recommend researching those apps first! Like you mention, some apps might not be suitable for the AVA remote. However, we've been working with some partners on help making their apps work better with our remote and it's been super exciting to see and experience!

    • @mpg732
      @mpg732 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smashtech801 First, thank you for your reply, can you expand on which partners you have been working with? One topic that you did not comment on was the price, I feel you guys are pricing yourself right out business. I have been a hobbyist in this field for over 10 years, seen many products come and go. Her's the issue I see with a product like yours, first you're dealing with a very small a very niche market. Without a recurring income from customers, you will eventually saturate your market, sales will dry up, you will still be spending money on supporting your product and eventually have to shut down and go out of business. I have seen this so many times, product like this comes to market, at first all is great, but when sales start to dry up, you will find yourself out of business. The Harmony line is a perfect example of this, there you're dealing with a big corporation with deep pockets, but in the end, it didn't make business sense for them to continue, your best hope is to either partner with someone that can continue to bring in revenue or sell it off to a larger company like what happened with the NEO remote and Control 4. The other option is to lower the price, get closer to a harmony price tag, which will open up your market to more people such as all the DYI'ers out there, you will move more product and hopefully that can carry you over to the launch of a newer product.

    First thing someone would say is they can buy a dedicated android phone for $200 and replicate the experience. They could also buy an iPhone SE and dock for no more than $500 and have better security and airplay audio right from the “remote” with some volume buttons. No hard buttons is a tough sale.

    • @smashtech801
      @smashtech801 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's only a tough sale for those who have made their mind up that it's going to be tough. I just finished a book called "The Magic of Thinking Big" It's a great read- one of my favorite take aways is this " When you believe, your mind finds ways to do!" I have a LOT of experienced dealers who believe in AVA and believe in this remotes capabilities and those dealers have no problems selling it. If you believe you can, you'll figure out ways you can do it. if you don't believe you can, your mind will ONLY come up with ways you can't. It's a great read! And thanks for commenting!

      Thanks for watching, BGC! AVA Remote goes great in places where a having an unlocked touchscreen is handy, but it's not designed for TV watching. There are lots of hard-button options around for that today. Still, uptake on AVA Remote shows us that there is demand for what it does. So a "version 2" replacement may not exactly be in the cards. Still, we agree that it would be nice to have a complementary model designed for TV and theater uses.

      @@Arrayah08 Hey, Preston! We agree with you: in a theater or TV room, you want hard buttons. We are careful to point out that AVA Remote is not designed for TV. AVA Remote is excellent for lighting, security, audio streaming, and all the non-TV functions of a smart home.
