How can I join the 90th training squadron. I have a top flight PC, WinWing Hotas, rudder pedals and DCS. What has stopped me from getting into DCS is the learning curve. If I had people to sim with on a weekly basis I would love to learn DCS. For me I have no interest in playing games by myself, so for me making friends and being tight with a group of people online will go a LONG way to making me stick around.
Hey brotha, thanks for inquiring. The 90th TS is a squadron that all new pilots to the 8th Virtual Fighter Wing enter. The 8th has not only the 90th, but has squadrons that feature the F-15, 16, 18, A10, and also one for ATC/AWACS. If you have an interest in any of these aircraft/AWACS/ATC we'd love to have you join. Point track can be selected on the PB10 on the TPOD page, you cycle it between ATRK and PTRK. CES seems to do a better job holding your designated target while manuring when selected in conjunction with PTRK. You'r laser was in safe after yo cycled the switch because you were about 25K. Smiley may have had issues locking up the target due to antenna elevation is all I can think of if he was 0-20 then the target may have been popping in and out of his scan zone, but really don't know. He said he cycled thru the modes and PRF? Hope this help. Your formation flying is awesome!!
Thanks for watching and for the great feedback brother. I'll catch you in training this weekend.
Hey! Did you see the F-15QA air show demos with the full, 12 AMRAAM missile load out? They were impressive, but what was more impressive was the short field take off when it did the clean config demo; I've seen many Eagle short field take off videos, but that one has to take the cake!
I did. The demo where it was slick was out of this world. The EX/QA was manuevering like the Raptor. The thrust to weight ratio for that thing is now insane from the looks of it.

how are you getting on with the 15E? i was almost staying with the 15C but took the dive and went for the 16C, glad i did. im about 200 hours in and still learning something new every time i fly.
I'm learning the aircraft slowly but surely. I'm still having issues with certain aspects of the aircraft but I'm getting things worked out. I'm glad that you like the 16. I own the aircraft but never fly it. It handles a lot different than the 15s and just doesn't feel comfortable to me.
I love watching your stuff, good job Smiley.
Thank you for watching bro. I'll be posting your training video tomorrow and will DM it to you.
Another great video: radio have to manually turn it to AM, tacan for Nellie is 12x and set it to TR for ground base tacan station. AA is for tankers, it will show on F10 map under the airport for tacan code if there is a station at that airport. In the HSI if you set it to select Tacan PB6 it will point the airfield tacan station and steer you home. If you setup the course Nellie 210 it will actually line you up with the runway heading as well.

The guy you're flying with could not sound less interested lol
That's funny...I hope he's interested. He's a professional pilot so his enthusiasm over comms has been trained to be tappered...and lets be honest, this phase of training isn't exactly exciting.
@@thetyrantking2 I think he's probably just concentrating on not fucking up, I know when I was working up to joining my squadron I was just 100% focused on holding position and not doing anything stupid! Then again if he's a pilot then virtual training is probably not stressful at all.
Thanks Big Guy, appreciate you.
Yes Sir...anytime
Hey you should try MGRS, little quicker don’t know if it is more or less accurate.
I will program my HOTAS this evening, make sure I have access to the T45, my only concern is my rig is setup for the SE only so my center screen may be an issue. It’s only used for SE center console (Helios). But I will try to figure something out.
OK, check your DMs on Discord.
I’m a DCS pilot.. how do I join your group?
Thanks for your interest. Here's a link to the 8th Virtual Fighter Wings recruiting discord page to join: discord.gg/NrvDZwXU
Clearly the confusion stemmed from the use of the word “spread”. “Go line abreast” would be a better option.
I both agree and disagree with you. Our squadrons use different brevity for different formations that we use. I should have (and ultimately did) done a better job explaining what I was looking for and we got everything figured out in our debrief. It's up to the students to both learn and adjust to the different brevity codes that we use. We'd constantly have to change brevity if everyone that had a different idea of what is better was allowed to change terms. The gist of what I'm saying is that it's the students job to adjust to our brevity, not the other way around.
@@thetyrantking2 This was the first video I watched. I’ve seen other videos since then and I understood what your intent was. Good stuff man. Thanks for sharing.
@@HEATER_ Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Great! a BVR missile than can launch before 20+ miles! We need it since the Aim-12-C is only good for about 15 miles. Even with "ideal launch parameters", the C variant does not even get a larger launch circle until under 20 miles. By the time you are done being distracted w the bull, you are in aim 9 territory anyways. It didn't always used to be this way....something changed a few months ago. I remember getting a nice big launch queue under ideal conditions from 20+ miles. Not anymore. IF under 20 miles, is realistic for an aim-120 C, again under "ideal conditions", why would any pilot bother wasting any room on the jet for them? By the time, you can launch it, you have to switch to heaters or you are dead.
Hey brother very entertaining thanks for sharing. Some suggestions! Airspeed should try maintaining 350 knot to altitude and cursing speed about .8 Mach. It’s a better reference than IAS. Radar separation 3 SE one A1, one A3, one A5 help deconflict both air and ground radars. When fencing in all exterior lights off, your laser code was 1111 not 1688 for the GBU drop. No night vision because ground crew have to change out the helmet before takeoff. FLIR could have helped out a little bit always available. I was told Jdams use direct / step/ NT not auto but if it works stick with what you know. With direct I would have programmed all 3 JDAMS 31s with targets and dropped them all with one pass. Shake that shit off you had a good flight.
I am surprised about your coms I always have to switch radios to manual FM it’s a known issues withe the Strike Eagle, you didn’t change but could talk to everyone.
Brother, this is exactly what I've been looking for in the comment section for this video. I've been scratching my head trying to figure out why those GBUs didn't hit. I though changing the laser code would automatically change the bombs laser tracking code but obviously that was not correct. All of your inputs are greatly appreciated and I'll work on implementing all of this. I had no clue how to get the NVGs on and at one point I pulled down the visor thinking the nvgs would be there...nope. Thank you 1st for watching and also for the tips.
@@Ginuwine-kx2iv Yeah, the Strike Eagle guys were telling me something similar in the sortie before this one but I did some trouble shooting and the radio worked normally. Ironically, I was using SRS to try to increase the volume of my internal VHF frequency and it wouldn't let me. I never noticed there was a volume dial for the radios and felt pretty dumb once I did...by the way, the 122nd has inherited the Strike Eagle (we still have the C & EX) so that's why I'm flying it.

Why are the missiles Diving ? Plus why does it look like the F15C ????
The F-15EX Mod is built on the F-15C which is why the cockpit resembles the C model. The AIM-260 is a mod just like the aircraft and its developers are still working on not having the missile "fire down" rather than lofting. This is all just testing.
