I highly recommend training yourself to use a thimble, it’s definitely worth it to protect your finger and make your stitching more efficient. Sounds like you need a smaller thimble size. Once I figured out my size and switched to antique thimbles, it all clicked.

I have been looking around to try and learn a little bit about sewing since clothing stores never really have anything exactly the way I want it, and they just keep making our clothing shorter and shorter. Mother says It's easy yet everywhere one looks people use complicated language or do not explain things in a way for a beginner to understand. Video's like these, that show exactly what's going on under the needle, help a lot so thank you Ms.
