⚡️ Fully Electric Bus on dedicated bus road in Haarlem, Netherlands
This bus from Haarlem to Schiphol Airport uses a dedicated bus road.
Cycling and walking routes run nearby, but there is no equivalent route for cars. The busses are fully electric and run every 8-10 minutes.
When the bus enters the city of Haarlem, it has dedicated lanes and priority at traffic signals. So the bus is never stuck in traffic and the journey time is highly predictable.

Het filmpje lijkt me ouder. De populieren op de Vlaamse weg stonden er nog..
Next time: through the Kennemerduinen to Parnassia then along the coast to Zandvoort, THEN back through the dunes to Kraantje Lek. Take a right and turn left at the junction towards where i was born, Ramplaankwartier. Stop at 'het Wapen v Kennemerland' for a wee break.
Why did you take the same way (more or less) back?
That’s a great question! I think I avoided the other obvious way back via Bloemendaal aan Zee because most of the way is alongside a noisy road. But maybe that would have been fine for the video and more interesting.
Thank you for the video, seeing you take the route from Kraantje Lek brought back some wonderful memories. I love Haarlem and Zaandvort.
Wat een heerlijke rit! Ik vermoed dat ik dit ook met mijn rolstoel en handbike kan rijden. Als het wat warmer is ga ik het proberen! :D

Thanks for the comment! The bike is a Specialized AWOL, which is something between a touring bike and a gravel bike. Unfortunately they don’t make them any more. They have geometry similar to a 90s mountain bike. The Marin Four Corners is similar and I heard it is designed by the same designer

What type of camera did you use to record this video?
I used a GoPro Hero 9 Black, mounted to the handlebars with the media mod and an external microphone on a wire with a deadcat. That really helps to stop the annoying wind noise and vibrations through the bike. The camera was set to high stabilisation. I wanted to make more of these videos but didn't get around to it. One thing I would change is where I mounted the camera - because it's on the bars there is a bit of a side-to-side wobble. It would be better if I could find a way to mount the camera to the frame, or to use one of those chest mounts. Hoihoi, dank je 4 deze fijne tocht. Ook gezien ik in Haarlem ben geboren en getogen en mijn 71 jarige partner in Zandvoort. Wonen nu in de Achterhoek en van plan om terug te keren naar onze geboortegrond.
