A geologist leads the viewer through the humble origins of the Mississippi River in Minnesota, the enormous wanderings (meanders) of the river in the central U.S., on down to the expansive (but sinking!) delta of the Mississippi in Louisiana. Will the Mississippi change course and abandon Baton Rouge and New Orleans? The lock and dam system (with an excellent animation) is explained.
