Great video. Thanks for sharing. On the second tyrolean traverse, it looks like you put all your weight on the steel carabiner instead of the pulley. WHile you can ceertainly do that, it puts a LOT more friction in the system and makes you work harder to pull yourself across. The steel biner is supposed to be for suspending your pack off the cable and pulling it behind you using a small tether between your harness and your pack. Looks like maybe your packs were light enough to keep them on your backs, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone planning to take four days with more food and heavier gear.

@@theworldhiker1 That was really stupid. If you're not going to use the system the way it was designed to be used, you should at least not advertise it to the world. You shouldn't wear your pack while crossing, you clip it separately to the cable with the steel carabiner. You attach yourself to the pulley with the aluminum carabiner. Didn't you get proper instruction when you rented the harness? Or were you too busy fist-bumping with your bros to pay attention? If you have a shred of decency, you will take this video down, so people don't get the wrong idea about how to use the tyroleans.

Lots of comments about other peaks being more technically difficult. The point here is the effort to get there on a 25-mile hike and then summit day was 14 hours for me. Getting up on the saddle from camp and then having to lose a couple thousand feet before you can go back up again is challenging in terms of effort. I've done a few mountains and Gannett was definitely the most physically taxing of all. Plus, the year I did it the mountain was totally covered in snow.

Fantastic! Thanks for filming that! I’ve tried twice to backpack and film my journey into Bear Lakes Basin and failed both times! I’m dying to get in there. Seeing your route helps a lot. Great job!

Really depends on your comfort level, however we felt fine on the way down as our guide had done the route 100's of times.
