Make a Hotline Miami Film, You Cowards
🐔 Do You Like Hurting Other People?🐔
As Hollywood is plunging towards more and more video game adaptations, I decided to throw my hat into the ring and present the one adaptation that I would actually be excited to see.
I've loved the Hotline Miami games for a very long time, and I would love to see them get adapted. In this video I present my version of a potential film adaptation of Hotline Miami (while also borrowing some smaller details from the sequel).

Annihilation is Peak Cosmic Horror | Video Essay

True Detective: Night Country - Not Enough Mystery

I was extremely excited for Night Country. Not only do I love the setting and a shift in perspective (in protagonists as well as the show runner), but the early reviews also lauded it as a return to form. Unfortunately, Night Country has real issues in how it deals with its characters as well how little it focuses on its central mystery. Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 2:05 The Characters 7:47 Danvers 1...

If the show was just called Night Country with no call backs to S1 it would have just been a fine tv mystery. Forcing it to fit in TD was just terrible.

I absolutely agree; personally, I think this reflects cosmic horror more than some of the more literal Lovecraftian movies like Underwater. While you note you're cherry-picking, I might suggest this has a vibe similar to At The Mountains of Madness - the horror is large, but contained to a small group. At the end of the story, we're not instantly concerned the shoggoth is coming for all of earth right then. One man survives and while probably traumatized, he's not mad, while the other sees the final horror. I think Capa's experience of the sun as something scary and enticing but ultimately ending in a final awesome (awe-inspiring) blaze does not negate the horror. When one considers the Elder Things, they are terrifying but also awesome. The sun subsuming Capa is both beautiful and horrifying. And yes, the ending is "happy," but fewer people make it out (none) than there in At the Mountains of Madness; our cast of characters does not meet a happy end.

Don't get your views on real life from fictional TV shows. Look for proof and evidence for things you believe. Someone pointing at something and telling you what they think about it is proof of nothing other than they are pointing at something and telling you what they think about it. With all due respect. Go with non-fiction. Such as The king James Bible and the things that back up what it says. Most importantly : (((The Gospel (Good News) 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV faith fully on that is humanity's only hope)))

I had written a short story based on these games, also focusing on Jacket; I mainly had it read fairly one-to-one to the games, but had his story end when the bombs dropped on Miami, with Jacket sitting in his cell waiting for his next court date; and an epilogue in the form of a newspaper bulletin in a different area of the country.

seeing as how this novel was written after "Under the Skin" was released, strange how "Annihilation"'s ending is similar to “Under the Skin” wherein a female-imitating alien reveals their true form as a black humanoid creature who is killed with fire; too similar to be mere coincidence. btw, this movie was predictive programming for planned pandemic that was to follow. viruses are being genetically engineered to annihilate humanity by attacking their very genome. Area X is the military base. The Shimmer is the alien-inhabited region. you conflated the two. oy vey.

My view on the tattoo leaving thorn son arm To the main protagonists Arm and their being one on the body now a wall mold/fungus in the southern reach base swimming pool I thought of it like, that might have been a relative of thorn son or someone she knew well enough they got matching tattoos on each other. Or the more random fact That man not mold had the tattoo as thorn son but it was a happy accident/clue that just happened to be in the world of area-X?

I feel like a hotline Miami animated series would work better, since the characters and their masks would likely be portrayed poorly in live action. As for a series, since there are so many different characters with their own stories. Having a series with multiple episodes focusing on each characters story and how everything is connected would work way better than a movie since there’s no way you can fit that much information in a singular movie.

I found the ending to be pretty garbage. It seems to me they didn't know what to do with the last season, so they just came up with something fast to make everyone happy. It just feels rushed. But season 1-3 were incredible. Season 4 was meh.

I think a anthology series could work too and each episode would focus on a different character and would be made differently depending on how they see the world (similar to the hlm comics by plot) also I never noticed that the nuke beard died in took place before the first game because he was the last one to die in the new game + section of the second game where all the other characters die chronologically of how they did in the game

I think the biggest problem with this game is the alien himself. Most preciselly, the director AI. I think it's unfair for the game to let the alien know your position so frequently. The best parts of the game are when the Xenomorphs let the player breath for some time. Having the enemy atached to you all the time ruins the experience a bit

It pains me to see this played without the TAA mod Alias Isolation. Now that a sequel has been announced, they really should do a remaster of the OG game with better antialiasing which it got in 2019 on the Switch. Just finished another run of Isolation on a Legion Go using the mod at well over 60fps. The visuals still hold up to most modern games thanks to superb art direction.

Honestly, I didn’t like the script. It takes away a lot of the eerie vibes of the game. Making Jacket not be in a coma removes much of the intrigue the games had. As Jacket gets closer to waking up, his memories start bleeding into each other, with the dead bodies of people he’s killed showing up in his everyday life and even talking to him. Moments like Beard referencing how what just happened isn’t real, or Biker lying on the floor with half his head missing, are what give the story its dark, otherworldly vibe. That, along with Richard, is what makes the narrative so unique. Seeing Jacket’s face would feel wrong, hearing him speak would feel weird, and giving him a proper name just feels... off. Jacket is essentially supposed to feel like a force of nature, like Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees. Of course, there’s more to him, but it needs to be shown visually, not verbally. As for the fight choreography, I’ve always imagined something more akin to The Raid or Hardcore Henry.
