We need to ask? No, you don't need to, either you expect to go things terribly wrong, or you don't. Basically move or die. That is the choice you have. What you do is ultimately up to the individual. Just don't make it about survival: That isn't the question, the question is risk/reward.

This is one of the best descriptions of this calamity. I had never heard of the Cascadia Subduction zone when I moved to the Oregon Coast 25 years ago. It is pathetically laughable what city, county and state governments are doing about this. Somehow I doubt I will be safe if I stand on the right side of a blue line painted on the highway. 😢

Just kiss your ass goodbye. The logistics of getting an entire region back functioning within 10 years would be staggering. Individual planning for most scenarios is just impossible. How do you get in touch with relatives, how do you get home (assuming you have one left), primitive behavior will be rampant as folks fight over food, water and basic necessities. Lawlessness will be the norm. It won't be pretty and the more desperate folks become, the worse it will get.

I understand why you focused on the metro areas, but a wide angle view showing how far the damage could spread would have been nice. I've heard that it would effectively destroy everything West of I-5 in Oregon and Washington and would likely do some damage in California and British Columbia as well.

This video is hardly a "worst case scenario"... it sounds more like a feel-good rationalization about the efforts that could be taken, but are not being taken, but local, state, and federal organizations and the people themselves. Ever look at the quality building code index of single-dwelling residential houses the Puget Sound area? Atrocious. And the coastal houses are built on questionable land, with no consideration of earthquakes, and with lots and lots of plate glass windows. So, I guess, them coastal folk can have a picture-perfect view of their certain death as it happens. "Worst case" scenario would involve what happens when the area can't be rebuilt because it has sunk further below sea level than NOLA and why the Pacific Ocean now has tens of thousands of more bodies than it did the in the previous days and weeks before the 9+ earthquake that awaits the region.

You don’t have to ask, FEMA has already projected over 2 million deaths west of I-5 destroyed. Sensors are now placed to give people 20 min to get to higher ground but the Bay Area and WA are basically broken crackers with waterways deep into each state and that is a massive destruction. San Francisco is empty, Oakland is empty. This is planned prevention to limit casualties. Santa Monica thru LA now being emptied. I’ve studied since the early 80’s when the Army Corps started to study this zone. We had ticker tape covering floor to ceiling for miles, no one knew about it. When Loma Prieta hit, I thought that might trigger it. Any second that zone will buckle and that’s it. 3 major states thru to Canada destroyed. Destroyed and millions will die.

18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. So basically, the first two smaller boats were driving on the wrong side of the lane, forcing the meeting norwegian ship to drive far to the wrong side as well, making it collide with SS Mont-Blanc which - ironically - were driving on the correct side. Had everyone driven on the wrong side of the passage it wouldn't have happened. Had everyone driven on the correct side, it wouldn't have happened. It only happened because some actually did have brains to follow rules and THEY were the one to collide because of it, and cause an explosion to kill an outrageously amount of people. So wrong.

Yes. Exactly. The captain of the MB and the harbor pilot assigned to her said the thing that really shocked them (aside from Imo refusing to yield) was when Imo reversed her engines. They couldn't believe that a captain would forget a very important fact that is common knowledge among all ship captains. Never reverse an empty ship because it will cause the bow to swing!

200 to 900 year intervals. The US as a nation hasn't existed 300 years. So if the average human lasts 80 years, your chance of witnessing the inevitable is not all that certain. You might be out of town that day. You might live your whole life in Seattle, and miss it by 50 years. Or it might happen while I'm posting this. If I was buying a house in the region, well, I wouldn't be actually. But I might go skiing in the region.

I live in the Cascadia Subduction Zone on Vancouver Island in the southwestern part of Canadian province of British Columbia and I have heard the warnings many times and it will be the worst disaster in both American and Canadian history. I can promise you that this megaquake will cause extensive damage and loss of life. Sadly we are less prepared than countries like Chile and Japan.

The Cascade disaster will happen one day later ,but before this happens there will be other earthquakes happening elsewhere which will be far more powerful than anything ever experienced before In 1952 , which is 72 years ago I had a premonition about pandemics, wars and earthquakes . I told everyone around me about this premonition , but no one took any notice , after all 72 years ago the world was a different place Not so nowadays We had the pandemic Covid 19 and we have the war , in Ukraine and another one in the Middle East . So now is the time to come out with my premonition EARTHQUAKES The 1st one will be in the Tonga Fiji Tahiti and Samoa area The 2nd one will be in the Mediterranean The 3rd one will be in the North Sea and the city of Bodoe in Northern Norway will be completely destroyed It will have to be evacuated beforehand Prayer will alleviate and mitigate the severity of any disaster The people of Bodoe will have to pray for their city If they pray hard enough the city of Bodoe will not be completely destroyed as it came to me in my premonition, but people would be able to re- build their city again The 4th one will be in Central America and Southern Mexico The 5th one will be in Central India The reason why all this will happen is that our moral values have descended and are spiralling downwards and also our mining activities Pray , pray and pray

I just watched your five year old video and found it helpful. Something that everyone that talks about the Cascadia forgets is what comes after the initial shocks and tsunamis. They forget that it is a subduction plate and the shift will shove more material down to the magma layer. That line of volcanos that you see to the east of those populated areas are the result of it. They'll pop. I'm not sure how long it will take or which ones will do it, but they will. I'll not be going to the valley after the quakes.
