What is a Pump Bearing? || How It Works || Why It’s Essential
A pump bearing is a mechanical component used to support the rotating shaft of a pump, ensuring smooth and efficient rotation. Bearings reduce friction between moving parts and provide stability to the pump's shaft, which helps maintain the pump’s performance, longevity, and reliability.
Key Functions of a Pump Bearing:
Support the Shaft: The bearing supports the shaft that drives the impeller or rotor in the pump, allowing it to rotate without excessive wobble or friction. This is crucial because the pump shaft experiences both radial (side-to-side) and axial (along the shaft length) forces during operation.
Reduce Friction: Bearings help minimize friction between the rotating shaft and the stationary pump casing, which reduces wear and tear. Lower friction means less heat generation and better overall efficiency, which can extend the life of both the pump and the motor driving it.
Absorb Loads: Pump bearings are designed to handle both radial and axial loads:
Radial Load: This is the force exerted on the shaft perpendicular to its axis, typically caused by the pump’s impeller pushing against the fluid.
Axial Load: This is the force acting along the axis of the shaft, usually due to the impeller's interaction with fluid pressure.
Prevent Vibration: Bearings help reduce vibrations during pump operation. Vibrations can lead to imbalance, wear, and even failure of pump components, so stabilizing the shaft is critical for reliable operation.

First off, let's talk about impellers. The impeller is the heart of a pump, responsible for converting mechanical energy into fluid energy. There are several types of impellers, each suited for different applications and performance characteristics 1. Radial Impellers: These are the most common in centrifugal pumps, and they move fluid outwards from the center, creating high pressure. They're p...

มุมมอง 4485 หลายเดือนก่อน
n the oil & gas industry, Engineers often spend hours performing calculations to design a gas compressor system. In the case of Gas transmission through pipelines, the performance of a gas compressor becomes critical and can decide whether you are going to see gas production coming to a halt or it's just 'Another Day, Another Dollar'. Design methods are initiated by doing 'steady state' calcula...
|| FLUID HEAD IN CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR ||

centrifugal compressors the head is determined by the volume flow through the unit. In the case of an axial-inlet centrifugal compressor (typical of integrally geared units), an appropriate length of pipe serves to smooth the flow of gas into the eye of the first impeller.
|| DYNAMIC COMPRESSOR ||
มุมมอง 8729 หลายเดือนก่อน
Dynamic compressors are rotary continuous-flow machines in which the rapidly rotating element accelerates the air as it passes through the element, converting the velocity head into pressure, partially in the rotating element and partially in stationary diffusers or blades.
|| INDIVIDUAL STAGE AND OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF COMPRESSOR ||
มุมมอง 2229 หลายเดือนก่อน
The main difference between single- and two-stage compressors is the number of times that air gets compressed between the inlet valve and the tool nozzle. In a single-stage compressor, the air is compressed one time; in a two-stage compressor, the air is compressed twice for double the pressure
|| POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR ROTARY LOBE ||
มุมมอง 2829 หลายเดือนก่อน
A rotary lobe vacuum pump is a positive displacement pump that uses rotating lobes to generate vacuum. Two three-bladed rotary lobes are mounted in parallel within the housing. They operate in opposite directions. The pumped medium is trapped through the rotation of the lobes, compressed, and transported to the outlet.
MECHANISM OF FOULING & ITS EFFECT ON THE OPERATING POINT IN COMPRESSOR
มุมมอง 4899 หลายเดือนก่อน
Compressor fouling reduces the compressor mass flow rate, pressure ratio and the cycle efficiency which subsequently leads to a reduction in power and increase heat rate [11; 12]. In a bid to recover lost power, firing temperatures are raised which has a detrimental effect on the blade creep life.

Oil wiper ring video?
Where is the link for design part 3
mr engineer how to clean needle valve?
Nice video. How to avoid leakage from the force feed lubricator to crankcase oil? How to avoid the mixing of two oils?
Sorry, one question 04:40 why reduce in MW same thing as higher density? Isnt it increase in MW instead?
really really thanks!!
Glad it helped!
Hi! Great Information. I wanted to know if you have some information for Frame & Running gear design. Looking for crankcase, crankshaft, con rod,etc design methodology and calculations.
