I have been playing guitar since my Dad taught me a few chords when I was in first grade. I mostly play to an audience of my family room walls...ha...but I do love it. I have many heroes in the guitar world...Tommy Emmanuel, John Standefer, John Knowles, Jerry Reed, Buster B Jones, Thom Bresch, Todd Hallawell, Pat Kirtley, Mark Casstevens, Brooks Robertson, ha...this could go on a long time! I attend the Chet Atkins conference every year in Nashville where I hear and play with so many great guitar players. It is the highlight of my year every time even after 20 years. I have written some original tunes and I love to arrange a tune now and then. I am working on a short video series on learning Fingerstyle alternating thumb guitar. I hope to get that post d in a few weeks. It will help a beginning player get from step one to step two clearly. I am anxious to see it tried out.

I wrote this in the days before our wedding, inspired by Claudia’s sweet love and her precious personality.

Super cool arrangement by John Standefer. This is my all time favorite guitar arrangement.
Remembering Love by Jim Spence

This original song is dedicated to the victims, families and friends of the Orlando terror attack. I wrote it years ago and many times I have found comfort in this melody. We who live here in Orlando stand with the people who have been affected and we all feel the weight of this terrible event.
Laura Spence can sing !!
What an incredible instrument! Thank you for the video! What king of guitar support are you using?
It is called Neck Up. I really like it.
@@jimspence1723 Thank you Jim!
thank you so much it helps to see a pro at it Lovely played
Try playing it! Take a little at a time. It is slow and very playable.
Какой же кайф!!!
Jack always plays the pretty notes.
Laura, your vocal presentation is wonderful....thanks
I love this lesson. I have the score but its nice to know how its played❤I have played Chets style for many years now.
Thanks! I appreciate that. I really need to get busy with some more videos. You can Olay this. As Richard Smith says, at any single place in a piece of music, there is nothing you cannot play, short of a reach issue. We just have to break it down the the measure and beat. So I encourage you to learn this.
Very nicely done, thankU
Goosebumps. You really nail this.
Thank you. It’s such a pretty song. Have you worked on it?
Thank you! I am bad at looking at this page so I am just seeing your comment. What style of music are you playing? What level are you? What do you want to learn? I will make more videos soon.
one of those many awesome moments at CAAS! This was great!
👍
Watching this video made my eyes water - great musicianship and her voice is beautiful!!
Joscho, the only one actually listening and trying to adapt to the style of the singer and the actual song. I know they are good, but the other guitarists were just throwing notes for the sake of it, almost looked bored. Here you can see who actually practice harmony and musicality, and who just like to improvise while the rest of the musicians do the job for them. Joscho voicings were on fucking point.
Pure bliss
Lucky girl singing with pros
What kind of guitar in this video?? Sound amaizing!
It is a very fine instrument. Made by Paul McGill in Nashville. He uses a unique extra brace system between the neck block and the tail block to add support which allows the top to vibrate more. And his workmanship is incredible. He also developed the go acoustic pickup system that is amazing. These guitars are probably in the 8k range now but worth every penny.
Nice!!👍👍🐦🎶✨✨🎉😅
I really like this,! well done 👍 very nicely played!👍 And that guitar has really good sustain.🎸✨✨ And I came to really appreciate this song after hearing it on the newer True grit a few years back.,🎶🐦
Thank Jay. I actually did a duet of this with John Standefer that he put on a CD. If you don’t know of John, please look him up. He is a master and I am a player. And his teaching style is wonderful. Thanks for the nice comment.
@@jimspence1723I just saw this, while watching your video again,,, I did not get a notification for your reply here.. and yes, I'll check out John.👍
Found your page, because I saw some videos where you recorded Jack Pearson. Nicely done playing this!! and with your own arrangement! And I appreciate you sharing the history of this song👍, I never knew that And I really like that James Bond thing you did at the end!😎👍🐦
My God she has a beautiful voice. She better be careful because Ursula might steal her gift of singing🐙🐙🐙
OMG thank you! beautiful and not too hard version
I like her voice a lot. Anything recorded that I can enjoy listening?
Jim, thanks so much for this lesson. Beautiful song.
I am late in this response! Ha. Very late. Thanks. I do need to do more videos. I have been doing a little recording, but I have a real job and it is hard to find the time. Please share my videos and perhaps I can collect some more subscribers.
Where did the pick go when he pulled out that slide?
She has a very beautiful voice and the guitarist all round playing were fantastic to say the least and great choice of song is heart warming.
I like to hear more of your guitar playing! Thank your for this. I saw that your last upload was a year ago. Please continue. Best regards from Germany.
Beautiful ! I'm kin to the Spences of Lillington , NC !
I enjoyed this video my friend
Yeah 🎉
She's sweet. Jack's good too but he's the guy stepping all over the lyrics. That's not too good.
Great singing. And with Jack Pearson on guitar u can't go wrong.
The second player has more chops, but Jack is KILLING the melody in his solo....! That matters SO MUCH MORE!!!! Having more chops doesn't make a better player.... Play the MELODY!!!
Arguably one of the best videos I've had the pleasure and privilege to stumble upon.
I was thinking of Derek Trucks. Next level.
Hidden gems 💎 Regards from South Africa
This guy is right up there with Tommy Emmanuel, MIND-BLOWING!!!...the hidden talent out there is criminal
All the young singers sound exactly the same ( Think Adelle). Pedagogically this sound is accomplished by closing your mouth and pushing forward with your tongue. Very little original sound. Very little interest.
Love the guitar voice combo. Reminds me of the Harry connick jr version.
That was cherry. Laura reminds me of Judy Garland.
f sharp
Can't imagine being accompanied by The Legend.
Wonderful! RIP Richard Manuel of The Band. Check out his version!
almost better than the Armand Van Helden version.
Musical spontaneity is a magical thing!! Brilliant!! 👍🏻👍🏻🤘✌️
Just casually jamming with jack Pearson with joscho Stephan on the side 😁🤙
Is that a Brooks Robertson signature model Kirk Sand? Great playing Jim! I ‘m sure you don’t remember but I spent the Tuesday night of CAAS week in 2014 in the bar at the Music City Sheraton visiting with you and Todd Hallawell. I was a little star-struck around Todd and blown away listening to you play Struttin’. Then got to meet John Standefer via your introduction. Hope you & Claudia (who I also met that year);are well.
Thanks Michael. Ha. Star struck is what I always am. I don’t specifically remember this but I am sure it was all fun. Yes, Kirk Sand guitar. I just had Paul McGill put one of his pickups in it. Amazing system. Claudia ins great and is officially my wife which is wonderful. She actually helped me get the Kirk Sand by talking with Kirk. He upgraded it to Brazilian for no charge! John is such a great player and teacher. I need to record it again because I left out the octave notes towards the end. The Sand was not in perfect tune up the neck. Kirk fixed that later. John does zoom lessons and if you are to a moderate level, a lesson will keep you going for quite a while. Keep playing! Thanks for the note. Look up Laura Spence/You Don’t Know Me on you tube for a treat with Jack Pearson and Joscho Stephan.
What a person would give to see this LIVE. Wow she can sing and the hall wouldn't have a dry eye in the place
I just love Laura's version of this song! The performances by the guitar players are so natural and just perfect! I wish they would post more video selections like this!
This is so fire bruh wtf, homie with the slide, shorty with the voice, ...immaculate performance folks!
If Django played slide ... No that's Jack !
