Big bass in heavy cover! Here's my tackle setup...

Great reels horrible customer service
Good to know - hadn’t heard that before
How would you compare this to the SLX? Ive been ablento feel the slx and im really tempted by the comfort of it but this one seems to have more cool features. Im stuck between em if you coulr weigh in id appreciate it !!
I've been able to use both reels and am very impressed with the 13 Fishing SLD2. What I don't know about it is how long will it hold up compared to the SLX, as I think the SLX is a solid reel that can last a long time. From a comfort/feel standpoint, they're both really good. I will say the slide thumb control on the SLD2 is pretty cool!
@@bass_scribe yo man I really appreciate your super fast reply! That's rad and thank you I'll definitely take that into consideration as I'm about to make a decision today. The fact shimano is shimano definitely has that going for it and is def in the list of pros for the slx, as I've never used anything from 13 yet. I am from FL though and would be happy to support an FL company so idk we shall see haha. I'll lyk what I end up picking after i do it and also subbed, thanks again !
@@alilo-da9153 yeah for sure lmk - don’t think you’ll be disappointed with either 👍
Those are discontinued terminator spinnerbaits that they branded under the vmc brand name. 🤔that explains why terminator doesn't have any spinnerbaits on their website.
I think the Terminator brand is gone and everything jig/spinnerbait is now under VMC. These spinnerbaits should have the Redline hooks in them - not sure if they have titanium wires or not.
Those are discontinued terminator spinnerbaits
alamat toko
The Expride and Poison Adrena are by far my favorite rods.
Definitely great rods 👍
Just got mine ordered
Nice! Can’t wait to try one myself 👍
The video I watched right before this was about why you never should trim your weed guards so now I don’t know what to do!
What’s hilarious to me is if I scroll to the next video, it’s a short about “ why you need to trim your weed guards on your jigs!” I couldn’t have imagined it any funnier lol
😆
🤙
Still have a lid locker full of rat l traps from the early 90’s. Those relics seem to work better than all the newer lipless cranks, hammer traps included. 🤷♂️
Oldies classics are hard to replace 👍
💪
I know where the fish suspend a lot on my home lake in front of docks getting them to bite is tuff !
Suspended fish are tricky for sure - I’m learning each time I’m out on the water 👍
I fish the OGz😏
Dose it whine like a dc
Yes it does - I understand Shimano could eliminate the whine but it gives the impression of the brake working.
@@bass_scribeomg im getting it
Dude let us see 👀 you catching a 🐟 bass or crappie with one.
Sounds like a good idea! 👍
Thanks for the information. I've tried everything I can find on TH-cam about how to set up a Helix 7 so I can see my drop shots. None have worked yet. Going to give your advice a try next time out. Thanks!
Hope it helps!
@@bass_scribe Well shoot, I still couldn't see my drop shot. I don't know what is going on with my system. Could it possibly be a transducer or transducer mounting problem maybe?
@@35Salty Possibly - try turning the sensitivity up to see if that helps. Of course make sure your 'ducer is pointed straight down.
It’s a nice reel but not paying that much for a Chinese made reel. They originally seemed to try to pawn it off as a US made reel. I will stick with Jdm Shimano and Daiwa made in Japan.
My understanding was they are milled in Austin, TX, but that may not be true 🤷♂️
@@bass_scribeThey're milled in China, but CNC is CNC. Designed in the USA, but CNC'ed in China.
Ok good clarification - much appreciated!
they screw them self pricing it so high while Shimano and daiwa are on top of the game. not a bad looking reel but it does look plastic and that ugly knob don't match shit!
what minimum weight of lures can he throw?
The lightest I’ve thrown has been 1/4 oz soft plastics, 1.0 square bills and 2 hook jerkbaits. Rod action helps with all that, of course - it’s extremely smooth and lightweight.
Still haven’t
It’s a great reel but also a little pricey at $499
If it wasn't military, I'd rather be flying.
I can imagine! Would love to learn to fly!
I have a Goat and it is an excellent piece of precision equipment. I will buy 2 more and I will try the Hundo. Outstanding value
Unfair trade, very true.
Beautiful message. Thanks for sharing
Glad to see another Bates review. I recently invested on the Goat and the quality is absolutely there. Not to mention the looks. I haven’t caught a fish on it yet, but I can’t wait to see how it handles and how long it lasts. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.
Yes you’ll absolutely love it, no doubt 👍
About the only one made in America by st croix .. i just ordered one today
Yessir very nice reel 👍
I'm sorry but it's just ok reel I have one and it's not as good as my Daiwa s or my concept a2's and most of my reels are 4 to 7 years old and work better but I will use it the spinning reel look a abu garcia a little bit have a wonderful day
@josephdavison1979 appreciate the feedback 👍
They aren't going to sound the same. The Hammer Trap has three separate sound chambers to produce 3 different sound frequencies. The Hammer Trap is more advanced.
And the Hammer Trap shimmies on the pause 👍
Great tip for offshore😊
Glad it was helpful!
What did you just do? 🤔
I got my squarebill unhooked from the brush. When I can't reach it with the rod tip, that little trick in the video sure works well. If there's one thing I have a lot of practice doing, it's getting my lure unhooked 😀
@@bass_scribe I thought that's what happened
I have the bates goat myself. I haven’t used it yet. Quality appears to be there, but only time will tell how durable these reels are. Compared to Shimano and Daiwa.
I haven’t used the Goat too much either. Agree that time will tell compared to Shimano/Daiwa, but so far I’m liking their products 👍
@@bass_scribe if it performs as good as it looks, it will be a winner
Only good reels made by Shimano is the Calcutta and daiwa sucks
@@KaemonColburn I really like the Curado as an everyday reel and the Metanium is pretty sweet if money is no object. Honestly never fished a lot of Daiwa so don't really have a strong opinion either way.
@@KaemonColburn you must hate all reels! 😆
This is the second sound test I’ve heard of the two baits and again, I like the sound of the original better.
Hard to argue with the success of the original!
@@bass_scribe True! I like the higher pitch sound of the original…
I've never heard of the Bates company so your detailed description is really helpful. I can see that both reels are quality and functional. Todays reels and rods are really advanced technology. Since I can't own all of them I appreciate your insights and information. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
😎🫵
Spin baits have been catching fish for a long time.
Great video and instructions 👍
Great comments. This information will help an angler approach a new lake and eliminate the mystery of any lake.
🤙
I saw one guy do this suspended deep fishing and he wouldn’t cast but about 2-3 times with any one bait. He’d try swim, then jerk, horse hair etc., and with different techniques to initiate a strike. If he caught a couple 2-3 fish he’d leave the area for at least 2 hours and come back later. He also noted that if he caught a fish on a certain bait then that was it, they were savvy about that lure and would leave it alone.
Yeah that’s interesting. I do think groups of bass get wise to certain baits after a we are caught. Good feedback 👍
A great video tip because not all crank baits come out of the box ready to use. 👍👏
Very true!
Odd looking bait but it works for some reason.
That looks fun. Froggin in the sticks can be a challenge.
10 lb striper is always fun. Good job. Might need a bigger net next time. LOL
My own experience with the helicopter technique is …it’s a proven technique to catch big fish. Thanks for the reminder.
Livescope is a tool without a guarantee. You approach in 2024 is spot on.
Yep it's an incredible tool!
First off I don’t think believe that FFS is used only in open water
@@bass_scribehow did you do it before live scope
@@Ronie792 My approach to catching offhsore bass in the past is to just graph over bottom oriented fish and drop a waypoint or buoy on them. To your point earlier, FFS is a huge asset for this style of fishing, as well - I spent a lot of time trying to learn how to catch the suspended bass, so kinda going back to my roots in '24.
@@Ronie792agree 💯
Just discovered your channel and enjoyed the concise approach to your explanation. I appreciate a Cliff Notes approach, not an overload of details. Grabbed a sub, so I hope you keep it up and gain success. Good luck!
Thx so much for that! That's the exact niche I hoped to find - when I'm looking how to fix a lawnmower, I always choose the shorter video 😀
Thanks for the spinner bait tactics in the winter months 🎣👍
For sure - glad you liked it! It's a killer tactic when the water is cold. Appreciate the feedback!👍
Thanks for the honest update on this new technology reel. Appreciate the video and information.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video with a great team
Thanks 👍
Very nice reel with advanced components. Thanks for the update on this reel.
You bet!
