HPI Savage .25 Electric Conversion - Draco ECK - 3 More packs through the Stock Diff Gears
Once again with my HPI Savage .25 electric conversion, I run three more packs through the vehicle to test whether the stock 43T/13T gears can handle 6S. I have already done 3 packs and there were no issues. Do you think they will fail this time? If successful i will have run 6 packs through these gears.

Converting your HPI Savage .25 to electric | Draco ECK - Will the 43T/13T gears hold up?
มุมมอง 28014 วันที่ผ่านมา
I have heard a lot about how the stock sintered 43T/13T Savage gears will not hold up to 6S. In this video I set about trying to find out if this was true. I spent a lot of time shimming both front and rear diffs and adding alloy diff cases with the extra internal gears to give the diffs a fighting chance. so it should work for stock 5SC :)
Yes definitely! You only need the Draco Centre Diff Set. www.draco-jp.com/centrediffset2024
What battery combo and engine do you recommend for this.
For batteries I recommend 2x Zeee 3S 7000mAh batteries. For a motor You could go for the Rocket RC 1650KV.
Thank you for the fast response. I was wondering if 2 x 3s lipos would be too much. Im trying to find the solid metal front and rear difs, even better drive axles before i pull the trigger on purchasing the conversion, but the toughness to find these parts has me a little worried. Any suggestions? Thank you again I'm in Canada @@dracoprecision
You’re welcome. With a 1650kv motor it’s still pretty fast but not over the top like a 2200kv motor. AliExpress has some parts for your diffs plus I have diff cases available also. If you tell me what you’d like I could get the parts together for you and ship everything together if you’d like.
Ok I'm going to have to go get my savage 25 out of storage and save up a few bucks and go with your kit.. it's been sitting for over 10yrs and your kit gives me hope again
I’m glad to hear your Savage passion has been reignited! When you’re ready to upgrade let me know and I can help.
So what's honestly a good motor and battery package with this kit
on the savage x with the electric conversion can you have a dual motor setup or is that impossible
I’m afraid with the setup it’s not possible to have dual motors.
can you make a video installing a motor on to this system
Yes I can make a video for this no problem.
Here is the video. I just uploaded. th-cam.com/video/r6EOK_HqACA/w-d-xo.html
do u ship to canada
Yes, I can ship to Canada.
@@dracoprecision good, i was thinking of gettinh this kit for my savage, have the og one for nitro and this one for electric
Great! What Nitro platform are you converting? Do you have some HPI Savage spares?
Smooth🤙
I just got my old Savage out of storage, going to try and see if there’s any life left in it!
Best of luck!
When the motor/mid diff mount?
I’m looking to release it by the end of January.
what driver handle do you use? looks neat
Thank you! It’s my own design which I hope to release at some point. This parts of a tool set.
wanna collaboration🥰
solid video bro, nice, liked it and subbed too, nice channel bro. I had a savage, could have done this to it haha cheers bud
Thanks man!! One day you’ll get a Savage again. There are still plenty around.
Jan 2025, perfect for me to order
Awesome can’t wait to get them available!
Dammmm didnt order shim kit 😅
I think you’ll have some shims at home somewhere. They are standard 8x10mm.
So do you race them
I love this colour scheme it looks great 👍 👌
Another great informative video. I need to try this on my d817t bacause i cant fit the receiver packs that i want to use.
Thank you. Does the D817T use the same radio tray as the D8T?
@dracoprecision I am not sure, but they look pretty similar. I will have to do some research.
I’ll have a look too and let you know.
Great video. If you make the chassis and dogbones for the 5sc i will absolutely buy a set or 2. Might be the only way i get one of these beasts.
Good to know thank you!
My 8yo son was asking me just this weekend if I still have this rig (he does not know it's a Super 5SC Flux, just knows it as my giant one). I got it second hand and I am not even sure if I got more than 8-10 packs in it total in the process of killing two ESCs. I am not sure it has been operable since he has been alive (or certainly not at an age he would have remembered it), but seemed like he wanted to get it running as a Christmas project together. Glad to see your video of it.
Are you going to get it up and running with your son? Thanks for watching.
@@dracoprecisionI am considering it. I already was before he asked, but it was pretty far down the project wishlist. I know at minimum I will need new electronics. I think the odds/ends of getting other missing or broken pieces may be tough. I do not think it is missing much, I can only recall one of the links for the sway bars, but I would imagine there is more.
The platform is mostly HPi Savage based except from the body mounts, front and rear bumpers, wheel hexes, TVPs, and braces. I definitely recommend upgrading electronics to something that can handle the weight. I run the Castle MMX8S on 6S with a 1650lv motor and it’s great. Send me a message if you need help sourcing some parts.
Hello very nice machine '''a little question would you make central differentials with the differential carrier for the Nemesis center to make my center electric
Thank You. I can custom make parts for you but it would depend on your budget.
Wow, I really like them!! for sure, I will have to buy some for my vorza flux.
Thank you!
Quick question. What shock springs do u use for this truggy? The original ones suck
Sure thing! I use Kyosho springs and recommend the following: IFS-002-815 / IFS003-915 / IFS002-8515. It is best to stay with springs 80mm long as once batteries are installed the vehicle sits quite low. Hope this helps!
I put a center diff set up in my savage flux about 10 years ago. I got it off eBay I believe. Takes a vorza center diff. Great upgrade, good for big jumping you don’t have to worry about breaking the front or rear, diff’s on landing.
Yeah man it’s an essential upgrade that protects your driveline and adds longevity to the diffs.
Any chance of nitro version Vorza upgrades? easy access center diff mount (similar to half of the electric motor mount) and chassis braces would be awesome to see.
Yes, I am working on the nitro Centre diff assembly now.
HI ....what size are the kit bearings ? Can I use the stock super 5sc center diff?
Hey there, the kit includes 13x19x4 bearings for the outdrives and the diff itself requires 8x16x5 bearings which I can provide. You can use the stock 5sc diff and just transfer some parts over like the diff case, and spider gears.
Awesome video mate as always, I think that's the first time I've ever seen you roll your car! It may be cheaper to make your own ramp man, make it so it comes apart for transport or put some wheels on it so you can push it. I'd love to see a video of you sorting out the problems on camera, it makes it easier if anyone has any problems, they can just watch one of your videos rather than be contacting you all the time.
Thanks man.
_Some very nice upgrades!_
Thank you!
Love it bro! Thanks for the update
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
This does look great, however please can you confirm if the new shocks towers can only use your standoffs? I was thinking years from now if one was lost or broken, could factory stock stand offs be used? If not then an option to buy your original towers would be good? Or is this unnecessary worrying! ?
If the diameter of the standoffs is 4mm some other ones could be used. The only issue is if the length of the standoffs is the same. Don’t worry though I always have a stock of small parts like this.
Price and Shipping to Norway Shock tower vorza
The front and rear shock towers for the buggy will be around $60-70US shipped.
Outstanding My friend!! I love that you've made the Centre Brace detachable from the shock towers man, nice move! while your on the subject of shocks and what not, is there any way at all to offset the bottom of the shocks so a Thicker Drive shaft can go in there??
Love it!!!
Love it
Good job!!!
Good job!
Will the centre diff top work with the nitro version? keep up the good work too lover you savage producs
Thanks! Unfortunately, the Centre diff parts don’t work with the nitro at all. I am currently looking at a design for the nitro.
@@dracoprecision that's would be amazing, Also bring back the savage cvds 😉
If I can make them cheaper I’ll definitely bring them back
I would get rid of the m3 screws, they donot belong on a 1/8 truggy. you should make the towers accept m2c shock stand offs, just a m4 hole from memory.
Yes I have designed M4 standoffs for the shock towers and new video update coming this weekend.
Great video mate, I'd love to see you do more Technical videos. Is there any chance you could do one on Electric Motor Maintenance? Pull one apart and show us what makes it tick and how to look after it? Cheers bud
That’s a great idea man! I’ll add it to my list.
Hey man great video, that's a horrible looking centre driveshaft!! It looks like its about break at any moment. I'm really not sure how you can put up with that sound man, give me Electric every day!!
The sound can get annoying after extended periods, but the maintenance, driving feel, smell and needy nature of nitro makes me love it. You should try it one day if you can.
@@dracoprecision One day my friend, I promise.
Great video! How are those clutche shoes? Sounded like they were slipping at HI rpm.
I’m using Kyosho aluminum clutch shoes. Do you think I should go back to the carbon ones?
All hpi need shims , the play on these diffs is horrible on all new models
Where can we get that motor mount? Can’t fit anything bigger in the stock one
I’m afraid I’m still developing it but when available it will be in my store on my website. www.draco-jp.com/thedracostore Unfortunately only up to 42mm motors can be used.
@@dracoprecision any indication on when will be available and will you be shipping worldwide?
I’m sorry I do not know yet. As soon as I have them in stock I can ship. Where are you?
I’m in Australia
No problem. I ship to Aussie a lot.
very stiff setup, those parts look cleaner than some genuine hpi hop ups 👏
Thank you! The final parts may look different. There may be a raw aluminum look.
Great video my friend, thats the most I've ever heard you speak! Your parts rock my dude, shouldnt be long before you get a siese and disist order from HPI, your putting them to shame!!!
To anyone that will listen: The stock mount only runs into the brace on 14T and lower, everything above that is clear.
Great job my friend!... HPI GUYS AND FANS GO GET THEMSELVES THESE UPGRADES !....
Thank you!
Can't wait till i can get my hands on a set of these 👍
Any chance of making front and rear skid plates (metal or plastic) they are getting harder to find, also a clear chassis protector with precut holes would be great
Yeah I could do that. Maybe some 6061 plates front and rear and a chassis protector.
Happy to see this progress, doesnt look like its too much longer to wait!
Probably still quite a while. I will make some changes to the towers and motor mount set. But I’m happy with the progress so far!
What filament did you use to 3d print the cover
It is SLA using Black Resin.
@@dracoprecision no wonder the finish came out so good. Awesome to see you still keeping the super flux 5c alive👍
@@willbingo Thank you!
