I will give kubo the benefit of a doubt and trust that he did at least try to show the pairing develop (though not well since it was too late - should have done it in the first arc, not the second arc). He just fumbled on presenting ichihime as canon endgame and why that is justified. Whether he really always intended on making ichihime and renruki canon endgame or was convinced by someone to change it to those two pairings, we will never know. It just feels like ichigo got paired with orihime because she was closer to the sexualized submissive feminine curvy beautiful nadeshiko/himeko waifu type than rukia was - which is funny since studio pierrot executives and producers sexualized orihime and messed up her character. But at least kubo can say his pairings weren't as forced as NaruHina (which is confirmed to be forced by the studio pierrot executives and producers when kishimoto originally wanted NaruSaku). Kubo's fumble with ichihime is more like the furuba's mangaka's fumble with yukixtohru (which got fans mad, not because their pairing didn't happened but because of how the mangaka explained why the pairing didn't happen). [I am neutral about ichiruki and ichihime and renruki, but I wasn't a fan of ichihime because I didn't like how orihime was written when she was around ichigo versus when she was around other people.]

Bcs it was the original idea for Ichigo and Rukia to be together. But the author was still debating it, and made his decision to keep it that way later in the series! 👌🏽

The anime didn't finish I hope they change the ending

Tite Kubo actually got fan mail from some kid in the hospital, and the kid told Kubo to finish his manga the way he wants to finish it. Ichiruki didn't happen, but Kubo clearly had Ichiruki in mind from start to almost finish for the manga. It is just for some reason Kubo at the last second changed his mind and did Ichihime instead. Can anyone tell me how Ichihime makes sense!? Lol! They barely talk to each other! Ichigo always has his eyes and mind on Rukia! Lol! When Ichigo is supposed to go save Orihime, and when he hears that Rukia is in danger, Ichigo tries to go back instantly to go save Rukia instead of Orihime. So obviously, Ichigo cares more about Rukia lol. Oh, and Ichigo is always so breathless whenever he sees Rukia like she is some goddess ascended from heaven. Like wtf? Kubo wrote this, why not just fking make Ichiruki happen? lmao Anyway, Kubo is a shitty writer when it comes to romance and we all know and agree that Ichiruki is the true canon ship in Bleach. Even the Bleach animators try to pair Ichixruki in the fillers and in the movies. It is so god dam obvious that they were made for each other. Who is the only one that can cheer up Ichigo? Rukia, while Orihime fails to try to cheer him up. Who pushes Ichigo to overcome anything in his way? Rukia, while Orihime doubts the hell out of Ichigo's power. Who is Ichigo's White Moon? Rukia. Orihime is nothing. Like come the fuck on. You gotta be brain dead to not realize it. I also love it when Ichihime say dumb shit like "Rukia is more of a sister / mentor to Ichigo". And with that I say, Orihime LOOKS and acts like Ichigo's older sister, literally.

​@@sandyross1988 We can all disregard the last chapter, since it makes literal no sense. Most Bleach fans is Ichixruki and for good reason, they were lead to believe by Kubo that Ichixruki is a thing. It definitely is a thing, it is just you can't trust a creator because they can literally do whatever the hell they want with their story. Kubo could have paired Ichigo up with Rangiku and it would have made the same amount of sense as if he paired Ichigo up with Orihime.

@@Mk2kRaven true. But it does make sense about Ichihime now that I think about it. They just wanted IchiRuki due to Rukia was so close to Ichigo. But, orihime grew up with him and renji grew up with Rukia. Makes sense to love a childhood friend more than someone you only got to know. If Ichigo didnt have high spiritual pressure, he would have never met Rukia. So it makes total sense. He only met Rukia due to his spiritual pressure
