CANADA
1- Canada to stabilize growth and decrease number of new international student permits issued to approximately 360,000 for 2024
2- updating the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program to better align with immigration goals and labour market needs
3- Starting later this year, only spouses of master's degree students in programs lasting at least 16 months in duration will be eligible for work permit.
4- For anyone applying for a post-graduation work permit on or after November 1, 2024, a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 for university graduates and CLB 5 for college graduates will be required.
5- Graduates from programs at public colleges will remain eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) of up to three years if they graduate from a field of study linked to occupations in long-term shortage.
6- The Government of Canada will refuse to process Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) in the Low-Wage stream, applicable in census metropolitan areas with an unemployment rate of 6% or higher.
7- Employers will be allowed to hire no more than 10% of their total workforce through the TFW Program. This maximum employment percentage will be applied to the Low-Wage stream and is a further reduction from the March 2024 reduction.

AUSTRALIA
1- Australia Caps International student enrolments starting 2025.
2- Work Holiday Visa 462 is open now for Indians till October Month Only.
3- Visitor visa (600) holders will not be able to apply for Student (500) visas onshore.
Temporary Graduate (485) visa holders will not be able to apply for Student (500) visas onshore.
4- The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) has risen from AUD 70,000 to AUD 73,150. This increase reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that temporary skilled workers are adequately compensated and helps protect the Australian labour market. Employers must comply with this new threshold when sponsoring skilled workers.
5- From 1 July 2024 visa conditions 8107, 8607 and 8608 are changing to help tackle worker exploitation and drive productivity as was outlined within the Migration Strategy.
Temporary Work (Skilled) (Sc 457) visa holders, Temporary Skill Shortage (Sc 482) visa holders and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) (Sc 494) visa holders who stop working with their sponsoring employer will have more time to find a new sponsor, apply for a different visa or arrange to depart Australia.
These visa holders will have up to:
180 days at a time, or
a maximum of 365 days in total across the entire visa grant period.
