How to test fly the Beamer 3/Rogallo paraglider rescue
Beeing familliar with your rescue system is very important. i want to show you how to safely fly your Beamer or other rogallo in a controlled enviornment. If any questions arise, feel free to ask them in the comments :)
through the hole

When the fog suddenly came in to the valley i had to come down quickly. Doing my warm up run perfectly through a hole in the thick fog was an amazing experience.

You are really good. It was f..g awsome!
1:15 Twisty Twist to SooperTwistHeli.
That was action packed! Man you're fearless, bravo! No water, I hope you have a steerable reserve though, or keep uprange from the hizzies at least ;)
@@sandrainthesky1011 the year before the fails where a bit more intense, but i think its a good sign that they got more harmless over time. And yes, of course i have a beamer as my reserve.
sehr cool
Sick!
❤❤
you two are crazy insane video
dä Helm und d "Bachlandig" ;D
Absolute legend! Your progression in acro paragliding is so inspiring. Can't wait to see what you achieve next!
Nice save with the wet landing!
While Acro is not my thing, I have much respect for the pilots in this video. Excellent recovery work!
Thx, yes the infinit twisted stall-exit got me a lot of recovery experience in a short time period :) There is only one pilot to be seen btw.
@anieltoengi wow! That's cool! Nice work!
Outwordly flighing skills bro ;O Wild!
Thx❤, still a few things to improve tho😅
Aucun sensation visuel😢

Thx❤
🔥
what light do you use in the wing?
I put a led strip in it that has a usb connector, together with a powerbank and some tape
This is insane to watch
I have one Beamer 2 and launch then on SIV for test. One time on Governador Valadares - Brazil in a beatiful fly of 70km, i unexpected spin a very low altitude ~120m becouse the very old glider (14secods) and i no think 2 times to launch. I have a soft land after few seconds. He open very fast and the sink rate its nice!
This is really cool, but I'd love to see how fast the Beamer 130 comes down with 130kg of weight. That's similar to my setup and I'm worried about coming down too fast. The 170 didn't exist when I bought my 130.
@@mmcowan thx, but I don't think i can get 40kg of ballast into my harness😅
Is this the same as the paradactal
Awesome demonstration! Thanks a lot for the video
Looks something like the old Security Thunderbow. R.I.P Dan Abbott.
You are really pushing. Nice! Stay safe🪂
I wouldn't bother with kicking the glider away before landing, and just do a PLF. Attempting to land on your feet under reserve usually results in broken bones.
Sure, a doing a PLF is never wrong. For me the descent rate is very manageable on a beamer flown at 70% of its max take off weight.
You can literally flare the beamer and the sink rate is lower than a normal reserve to begin with.
quick out only 1 side of the glider first, the second 20-30 m over the ground.
I have seen this method used in a real situation once, it seemed to work ok. My only concern would be how well you can steer to the unattached side. Do you have any experience with that? I have quick outs at home, but I just like the ease of beeing able to clip in a different wing within seconds.
Good, if you have the altitude and time - in simulated conditions. In reality you use the rescue, when you do not have the height and there is not much time to spare. Then can be such a complicated system wastly contraproductive.
Yes exactly, this is how to test fly your beamer as safe as possible. I have my fair share of "real" rescues and of course every situation will be different. In an ideal scenario with lots of height and away from terrain i would absolutely pull in the main wing. If you have a low fuck up, just stall the wing and hold it with one hand. With a different brand of rogallo i was only able to steer towards the side i held the paraglider, its like a airbrake on that side. In some real scenarios you won't be able to steer at all and are just glad that you don't hit the ground at terminal velocity :)
The scary part is having to fold the beammer back! Jajaj
This was part of my excercise, i wanted to test my packjob and having to fold it again, gave even me more practice. If you don't trust yourself to do it, any paragliding school or shop will do it for you. I hope you repack it every year anyway.
@ Where did you get the repack instructions? The manual is impossible to follow and there are no decent how to videos online. I just bought mine a couple months ago, so I have some time to find good instructions. I don’t let anyone do my re packs, I always do them myself. Maybe you can do a decent re pack video please? Jajaj
@@hanumandorje584i used the official packing video from high adventure: th-cam.com/video/NCQOCN4_N5s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VhyjpkSgQDOZNp8T I know the first two "cells" can be a bit confusing, the rest i find quite straight forward. And it really helps if you can do it the first time with someone who already knows. If we have a long bad weather period this winter maybe I can try to make a packing video that is easy to understand. But i can't promise it, sorry.
Is that an AI voice? Nice video. Scarry place to deliberate do reserve throws. Even with a steerable one 😬
It's just a standard computer voice from my editing programm. I think with AI it would sound more natural but I don't have any experience in this field. I just didn't want to do a voiceover with my swiss german accent😅. This is actually the birthplace of the Beamer, with 3 big fields and only two fences, a tree and a house on them it is the safest spot in the valley.
@@anieltoengi Fair enough. I was asking because I was not quite sure about the voice, and it seemed to work ok, even if it made you sound like someone in his sixties. I have the same conflict of narrating videos with my Danish accent vs trying out some Ai. Have been going with music thus far. Must say that when I look at your landing field, there seems to be a lot of obstacles, if you were coming down in a regular "go where the wind blows" rescue ;-) Thanks for the info.
@@thecrazybirdyes a normal rescue would be stupid to test there, especially from this height. If you watch my fail video, the first rescue i had to throw was a companion sqr which is not steerable but has a little forward speed to be more stable. I crossed the valley with this rescue and landed in the river. I was super lucky that the rescue came down on a big bush, if it also would have landed in the water, i would be dead😬
@@anieltoengi The separation between "that didn't go according to plan, and was no fun" and "that is how he died" is too damn close at times. :-/
@@anieltoengi A Swiss German accent is the best and most credible accent possible for paragliding advice! 🙂
IMMEDIATE DISLIKE because of that fucking ai voice. I love paragliding but LOATHE people using AI voices in their videos.
The Beamer definetly has some forward speed but you can't compare it to a paraglider. It is not built for xc flying :) Next time I will take my vario with me for some accurate data👍
@@anieltoengi I would guess an aerodynamic efficiency of 1/3 ? May be 1/2 ?
6 hours to get to the box 😂. What a day!
Thank you very much❤
Peace 2 right?
Yes, 16m2 90kg tow

Come on... 7 year?!😂😂😂
@@christophwaller9016 Yes, soon 8🎂 but was basically unused when i bought this bargain
Ohhhhh yeah 🔥🔥
In 24 years I haven't yet thrown my reserve (touch wood)... but you have become an expert at it in just a few short months! And paragliders say hanggliding is more dangerous... but they do not collapse! You have done a LOT of flying in a short space of time and are clearly pushing the envelope for your skill level, whilst also progressing fast. It's a brave thing to post a video of your failures - well done for that. And it is very entertaining! I wish you all the best of luck and hope that you don't push it TOO far. Remember it is a very dangerous sport, even more dangerous with all these special tricks you do.
