The Eagles decided to veer off of their usual "running back by committee" strategy that places low priority (and bargain basement 1-2 year contracts) on the RB position. Christian McCaffrey's signing with the 49er's seemed to convince Howie Roseman to pay big money for an every down back with pass catching abilities. Honestly, I thought the old strategy worked well for the Eagles. But I am a graduate of Penn State and was very happy to see Barkley in Kelly green. He is in the running for the league MVP now, which almost never goes to a running back. To say this has worked out for the Eagles is an understatement. Giants fans: I feel your pain. I attended an Eagles / Giants game in the Meadowlands in 2019 with my son and daughter and endured some light but humorous hazing for wearing a Chuck Bednarik jersey. Thank you all for being classy. What’s frustrating is they miss three calls where flags should have been thrown and penalized, one flag was picked up and two were never thrown on two clear facemask penalties. What about the B.S. player safety mantra that never seems to be enforced at some of the most egregious plays.
