At a fragile time, when inaction seems to bring us closer to an irreversible climate reality, young people are mobilizing to reverse global warming.
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE follows the work of Helena Marschall, who leaves no doubt that urgent action is imperative. But she also offers hope, and a roadmap to impactful activism.
Helena organized one of Germany's first school strikes for the cause. Now 20, she coordinates strategies and national campaigns for Fridays for Future Germany when not studying economics at Leuphana University in Lüneburg. Fridays for Future emerged as a grassroots movement after teen activist Greta Thunberg held up a "School Strike for Climate" sign in 2018 at the Swedish parliament. Strikers in hundreds of cities have followed Greta's example, skipping Friday classes to go out to spur environmental awareness.
Germany has hosted some of the world's largest Fridays for Future protests. In the biggest one, in 2021, Greta Thunberg led more than 100,000 marchers through the streets of Berlin. Helena's film takes us there.
Young activists also regularly protest in Lützerath, an epicenter of coal extraction, where Helena talks to fellow activists while they protest plans to bulldoze the village to expand a lignite mine. Such protests are bearing tangible results.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
"The climate crisis seems big and scary, and as young people we often feel powerless. I've found that when we come together, we can rise up and truly transform the world. This film tells that story. Every day I'm inspired by the activists around me and what we have accomplished, and I hope that sharing that with a wider audience, with Anja's help, will allow more people to recognize their power and join us in pushing for change."
-Helena Marschall
MENTOR'S STATEMENT
"Watching Helena and her fellow activists hard at work to protect this planet has been an eye-opening experience. Thanks to their unyielding commitment, willpower and stamina, impressive change has already started to happen. It is our hope that audiences will not only connect to the case for change laid out before them but embrace it passionately. It's hard to resist this film's urgent call to action."

Native culture disappeared in the PNW when the trains came through with thousands of tons of supplies of all kinds. Hunting gatherers became extinct. Now with the Casino and gaming industry only small remnants of their original cultures exist in the form of ritual. No one cares

Asè and Ha Ho! An awesome piece of work! My family is N Carolina Cherokee (mom) and Powhatan Confederacy. So many of us were forced to abandon our Aboriginal identity to take on their census labels of 'Black' or 'White'. To be "Indian" meant being unalived and completely disenfranchised. Yet even the recent designation of Native American is contrived, and actually applies to anyone born in USA, Inc. We were known by our languages, dress and customs not some arbitrary category. So it makes my Heart soar to see young people embrace their cultural essence with pride and deep compassion. Peace & Blessings to you my l'il SiStar! --------

Some accounts suggest that American natives were introduced to alcohol by the settlers. And knowing what alcohol does to people, during the time when they were treated less in comparison to their settlers, many of them suffered depression and drank more, and many died of either suicide, or alcoholism, while some had darker fates. Alcoholism, or addiction can alter one's DNA, and therefore, can be passed down to children, so when people stereotype the natives for being drunk, or alcoholic, if you trace back in history, there's a darker truth behind it.

So glad to hear the two-spirit perspective included. Part of the beauty within our cultures is that they can embrace, represent and engage with the traditions of male/female ceremonies. In so many ways that makes them more whole and more holy.

One thing I love about the tribes is that they’re holding onto their culture. And one thing I love that was spoken about at 7:30 is that connecting to who you truly are spiritually can help guide us away from bad habits. I love this because recently I discovered how true this is. I started reading and focusing more on my crafting and pagan culture of my ancestors and it pulled me away from materialism, alcoholism, and social media addiction. I started spending more time focusing on and spending time with nature spiritually and it helped me heal.

America is a occupied country occupied by colonizers from the largest unnatural mass immigration event in the history of humanity, not a natural out of Africa migration of humanity, but an event so violent that it would end 30,000 years of history of this continent and the hemisphere populated by its indigenous inhabitants for millennia and how it was wiped out by invaders of Europe and Africa.

When I was 18 , yes, I would have been very proud to show any person from another country where I live coz at that time all my local people were in work and I was in a successful community. But today I am living in a Community who have no pride , loyalty ,or motivation to improve so I am embarrassed how I am living today.Although I do feel free.👍 Speaking of which , don't let Moma or Shelley work for free, they can charge cheap or fair price, coz other people still have to learn to pay their way in the World and Indian Labor worth the same or more as any other Nationalities Labor! 🤘 Just incase you want a wee break from you own studies.✌️th-cam.com/video/aJdeK34Wsdc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=M6QPksSnKN3edgLO

The English made my Language illegal for a while ,and forbid the wearing of Kilts in an attempt to irradicate Scottish Culture. So I stopped talking English for a few years and I highly recommend you try it, just speak your own language when at home. I found my love to be stronger than English love ( there's more similar to like) and even saying "I love you" daily to my friends and family didn't convey it as most Nationalities are more passionate in expressing their love for their partners. I just think it's Fashion , if a girl wants to wear Chest Beads or Indian looking clothes , it's her choice. I think that's great that you're the real deal though and promoting your Culture by wearing Indian clothes. What do think of Teenagers wearing Indian Styled clothes coz they think it's cool what you represent , in Japan, China, United Kingdom, Russia , Poland, Thailand wherever? Is it ok to say "Red Indian" to differentiate from my type of Asian Indian? If I came to your Land I would smoke Peace Pipe and abide by same rules as you , and work for my food. You need to build a Hospital and a Medical Training College and all the businesses your people need run by your people.

Did you know the old brass Deep Sea Diving Helmets with the Hoses and Belows to pump air were made on an Indian Reservation. Scottish people are the only ones native to the Land in the UK, Irish are native to their Land too but Republic of Ireland are not part of the UK.The rest of them are mixed with Germans and Normans and other invaders. We have a very bloody and horrible history. I was looking in the Title to see which Country coz many countries have Indigenous People. You guys should ask for help from the UN , they'll soon tell Biden to keep a check on their designs on your land.
