What does changing out the link on the engine with your missing link have to do with the rear wheel when the wheel and shock is mounted to the swing arm. How does engine mounting have an effect on wheel alignment? I can see it having a effect on belt travel alignment but not wheel alignment.
Thank you for watching my video. That's a great question. The engine, transmission, and swingarm are all connected to each other. So when you adjust the Missing Link, you can see the top of the engine move left or right, depending on which way you adjust your Missing Link. The rear wheel, which is bolted to the swing arm, will move with the engine to make the shock mount distances equal left and right side. I hope my explanation is clear. By doing this, your rear wheel is now straight up and down and not leaning. This will greatly improve your ride and handling.
@@RackandPull Ahhh, I guess I didn't realize the swing arm and transmission were mounted together. My 2017 Road King handles great other than it tends to drift to the left slightly when I let go of the handlebars. Would this be causes by a vertical misalignment or could it be a misalignment in the front end?
How much is a frame measurement? On a Dyna
Hi Sir...I have a problem, the part of frame that holds my seat, fender, has broken at the extension joint,I have put steel solid long bolts inside, and welded angle on top and bottom of the outside...the problem is it keeps breaking, the frame tubing is only 1/32 thick,..it's a off brand bike,Enduro....and the welding is mostly blowing through the tubing....is there an epoxy,or something I can substitute for welding...my only transport is this bike..I need some advice....thank you and God bless.
Well, I would recommend taking it to a professional welding shop. I don't know of or recommend any epoxy for frame repair. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
@@RackandPull thank you,and you were helpful, appreciate your quick response...take care
Do you have to loosen motor mounts when installing the missing link, or adjust the link?
Just change the link and make your adjusments. No need to loosen anything.
Sounds good
Well o wish you was closer to Michigan
I've owned 4 Harleys of various vintages, and 6 other bikes of various makes (Triumph, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda). Why all of a sudden am I starting to see videos on you tube that tell me there's a good chance my Road King is misaligned from the factory? How come, apparently, every other motorcycle manufacturer in the world does NOT have this problem, since the alignment issue videos only involve Harley Davidsons? I'm beginning to think someone invented some new tools and needed a reason to use them to fix something that may have existed since the dawn of motorcycling. I personally have never experienced any handling issues with any of the bikes I've owned that would make me go through all of this. I have noticed that Harley Davidson owners tend to be the most neurotic about their bikes, compared to other bikers. I've been riding for 55 years and don't believe I've ever experienced anything that would cause me to go though all this rigamarole.
Same.
"Competing Forces" My training includes Submarine 36SINS (Ships Initial Navigation System), a set of computers taken from the space shuttle because the only environment, like traversing in the ocean vs. on the ocean, is being in space. The heart of the system is a stable platform that must be maintained to calculate the attitude of the boat given all the "competing forces" being applied to the boat every second we are underway. If the stable platform is off by one millimeter in any direction, well we could be heading to the Strait of Gibraltar but end up in England. The need to constantly course-correct is the essence of navigation. When your arms are doing the course correcting, after 400 miles, one's appreciation for minimizing course inputs increases with every drop of gas. As I build my S&S 129ci, I considered these "competing forces" but did not have an answer that satisfied all of them...until now. Excellent video, I will look for a shop with your product. I am in Charleston SC and would like to know if there are any dealers or service shops that can do the alignment on a 2020 FLHTK with your system. Bike pulls to the left and Harley dealer cannot help! Thank you!
Well hello! This is really interesting! I’m sort of new to Harley Davidson products. 1st on was a 2018 Road King . 2 nd is a 2019 Road Glide. I thought motorcycles are built with the swing arm hinged to the frame. How does adjusting the front engine mount correct the twist ( I am thinking is in the frame changing the swing arm alignment? I have noticed the there are frame pieces bolted on the frame. Could these shift?
Lol!! I like that feeling. It kind of breaks up the day.
Good video 5 years into the future. Or is it 5 years from the past. I'm confused but vid def worth sub/likie. Thanks from the future
Thank you! I hope this gets to you through the space time continuem.

Just curious where your shop is. Could use alignment on my bike

Once the insurance company deems it a wreck, even if you fix it you’re going to have a hell of a time selling it so plan to ride it into the ground
I heard Harleys come like this from the factory. These bikes at this point are more like kit projects than vehicles you can just buy and ride without any issues.
Nice shop and equipment. Good video, but exposes things that i just don't want exposed. Head in the sand type scenario.
Thank you for showing us this tool and how it works. Very useful and helpful.
How come I haven't seen you straighten a Softail frame. Just wondering?
I have repaired lots of Softtail frames, old and new. We get really busy and don't have time to post every repair. I'll post the next Softtail repair we do.
A lady pulled out in front of me and the front end and the front of the frame was twisted 🥨 like a pretzel. Broke my heart to see my bike like that.
Any shop in the Tri state area have this equipment??
Yep. We have Hulten Speed sports in Saint Johnsville, New York, 518-568-7669. Torque Cust Cycles, Hackensack, New Jersey, 201-310-2301. Grimms Garage, Salem, New Jersey, 856-935-8176.
I bought a 2008 road king classic. The guy I bought it from had it done up with beach bars to disguise the fact it had been in an accident and had alignment problems. After changing the bars to apes it was painfully obvious. After eliminating everything else I have concluded the frame neck is bent positive camber just like in the video. Where can I take my bike to have this fixed? It’s driving me nuts!!!
Where are you located?

@@RackandPull I see y’all are in California. I’ve been thinking on and off that I might be best off just replacing the frame as the most cost effective solution. If I had the dough I would buy a rack and pull setup because business would be good here near the dragon.
I should be in Jacksonville in about a month to install the Rack and Pull System. Try back then. It would be a lot more cost-effective to repair your frame,
@@RackandPull out of curiosity what would you charge approximately if all that is needed is to straighten the neck a few degrees?
Great stuff, been having wobble issues on new road glide Anna been pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. Thank you very much. I'm now a fan, great job.
It's amazing what a difference and what a huge improvement an alignment makes.
@@RackandPull Purchasing the alignment tool, adjustable rod. Replaced the swingarm bearings, wheel bearings, and isolators. Did a ruff measurement of the shock mounting holes and it was off. Bike rides good until you reach 80mph + then you feel the wobble. Definitely appreciate your vids, very straight forward and professional. Thanks again..
Things should be aligned right from the factory for the damn price they charge. If I ever buy another new bike it’ll be a Honda.
Is this related to the rubber mounted frames?
It is. The rubber mounted engine is a good design. It just needs an occasional alignment to get the drive train straight.
@@RackandPull Like a. Norton Commando? What about a rubber mounted Sportster frame? Do they require periodic maintenance as well?
I'd be very disappointed in my bike I'm sure if I put it up on that frame straightener thing you have. Wish I could, and that I was local to your shop.
Thank God l have my Sportster.
Thank you for this amazing information
Does any shop in the Houston area have this setup? Thanks!
There is a shop called J&B Cycleworks that has the Straight Shooter laser measuring system you can call Bruce at 936-266-0300
You could spend 10k on that bike and it would still handle like a shopping trolley
Made in the usa... 😂😂😂
Great video! Awesome stuff
Do a video of the actual stabilizer install and adjusting showing the correction on the equalizer please.
Love it great product
Didn’t the factory get it right?😂
I wonder how the newer Touring Harley rear shocks affect this wobble problem with the left side adjustable rebound damping setting and the right side is just along for the ride. You would think the different shock on each side would cause a handling issue. But I am not an Engineer.
Missing link purchased. Is it ok to use a tape measure vs the equalizer tool set. I'm going to try and align the my SG. Been fighting a wobble during long fast sweepers for some time. Been trying everything it seems like. This is my last ditch effort to get it dialed in.
Good morning. Does anybody have the Straight Shooter near LaCrosse WI? 2:25 I have a SGS 2015 that could definitely use an adjustment.
Pretty much the basics, but advanced knowledge in HD land. Well stated.

Every customer who has come in our shop with a death wobble has been running legend shocks
What causes this misalignment?
@tjmayer9103 as far as I can tellbthe legend shocks don't cause it , but they have spherical bearings which let the tops and bottoms move side to side. Stock shocks have bushings so when everything is tight they hold the swingarm straighter.
@96xl1200c Thanks for the explanation. Glad my Softail isn't prone to this issue.
If a FRAME is bent, it's "totaled" by the insurance company. How did the frame get bent? It's not the shocks. Been running Legend Revo-A's on a Roadglide since they were 1st introduced on the market, & have had ZERO issues with them.
You sir are ignorant the death wobble is the front end forks tire rim brakes triple tree neck and front end alinement
You sir are misinformed. Hope you don’t have a shop
Youre only partially wrong. David. People have found bent rims fresh off the floor, that however is rare. its still only an amplifier, not the problem. Yes improper "swing back" or whatever method is used depending on year to set the neck bearing tension, amplifies the problem, but is not the problem.
Also don't forget to check your air and the weight in your bags
Good point! Good call! Thank you for the comment. If your tire pressure is off by even five pounds, it will affect your handling. I've had people drop off bikes with only twenty five pound of tire pressure in the front.
Another great video. I purchased your missing link last year, and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it till I die, that was no doubt the best $100 I’ve ever spent on my bike. (17 ultra limited). Before, my bike always wanted to lean left and when going straight, you ALWAYS had to keep pressure on the right bar to keep it upright and straight. Very tiring and unpleasant to drive. My bike was also 1/4” out like this one and I knew it wasn’t wrecked because I bought it brand new. I wish I lived closer so I could get the lasers put on it to really fine tune it but at least now I don’t feel like selling the bike.
2020 RGS with only 5k miles on it. On high speeds above 80mph bike front end (Not Handlebars) wobbles or slithering (wave-like-motion) its no to scary but gotta keep hands tight on those bars and bike finds it difficult to drive in straight line!! replaced tires to new OEM pair, upgraded front+rear shocks, checked wheel bearings and serviced the Neck bearing but that led to 20% improvement only. last night took off the rear shocks & measured (bolt-to-bolt) found 1/3 inches higher on left side. I ordered the Missing link and hoping dealer can install it but is there any other part i should look into repairing/replacing/servicing while we change the Missing link? swing arm bushing or anything else?
Make sure your rear shocks are of equal length once you unbolt them from the swing arm to install the Missing Link. Sometimes the snake movement can be from your triple tree being just a little bit too tight.
Will do..thank you sir and definitely ill ask the dealer to re tourqe triple tree
