Sorry for the late reply, but yeah I like seeing stuff like this on Amtrak. Someday we will never see the metrolink cars again as they will eventually all be re-done.
@cactusrailfan31 It's alright. Yeah, the Bombardier Bilevels are my favorite passenger car. It may be unlikely, but I kind of hope we meet again, I had fun talking to you even tho it wasn't really that long.

Why not go out to Wagon Mound sometime and observe the semaphores? It's a very pretty place to spend some time to reflect of things.
I am hoping to go out there some time to catch an amtrak, I have been there and saw the signals but didn't see a train.

4 sleepers and 5 coaches? We have not seen that in a while. I wonder if any of them are dead heading or if Amtrak actually sold that many seats and sleepers. I kind of miss 2020-2021. That was a fantastic time to ride the western long distance trains (minus the lack of meals). Usually 1 sleeper and 2 coaches and you had the entire train to yourself.
I am wondering is Amtrak is experimenting with longer trains again, they have had an extra sleeper all summer and brought back the baggage car. I do think a few cars on this train were just deadheading though.

I asked someone that volunteers with them, BNSF, Amtrak, and NMRX all are "not interested" in having 2926 run on their trackage long distance.

Are those Metrolink coaches empty or can they have passengers while in transit to Milwaukee?
Probably not as they come before the baggage car and I wouldn't think they would let people walk through the baggage car.
They are empty and being transported for refurbishment, I don’t think anyone even crew is allowed in them

Great to see ATSF locomotive 2926 back in operation again and hopefully this year the locomotive will have a chance to finally start hauling excursion trains.
How is the wig wag doing? I have not groomed it since February 2024. I need to get up there to perform some upgrades to the control circuits.

@@cactusrailfan31I’m not involved in this group, but folks from the society have said that they are working with BNSF and the New Mexico DOT on excursions. As well as Amtrak to use to Albuquerque station for the starting point of excursions.
i hope BNSF lets her stretch her legs some more.

No, Big Boys have a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement. 2926 is a 4-8-4 northern.

No positive train control is going to be a problem.
Last I read (early last week), 2926 and 3751 are to receive the same FRA-approved PTC equipment that is currently being used on CP 2816
The society is working hard on getting a full PTC system for 2926.

@@richhood9934 I heard the society is partnering with the state of New Mexico and eventually operate mainline excursions on NM DOT tracks.
I would love to see this beast paired up with UP #4014. There would never be enough video footage of that.
I hope this year they can run an excursion, it would sell out, even at $500 a seat.
