@@tomships ahh thanks. I like Amati kits. I have the Amati HMS Fly to build eventually ;)

Came up great Tom! Was curious how to go about cleaning one of these ships without destroying it ;)
Thank you Greg 🤝👍😊
Tom, what a great topic for a video! One questions, did you wet the Q-Tip with something? If yes, please share.

@@genojoe3176 thank you dude 🤝😊👍
The decking looks amazing Tom. I really need to try putting thread between the planks. What is the thickness of the thread you use?
Thank you Greg🤝😊 try this looks good 👍 thickness is 0,15.

Thank you Greg 🤝😊👍

Thank you for doing this! I am on the hull lining step now, only my second ship model, 5th counting model airways for high quality wood modeling... this step scares the hell out of me. The part around 4:30 i would never have thought to do, re closing the gap with a strake that isn't perfectly in line with the previous layer of planking. Question: how did you deal with any very small gaps between strakes when you closed up, or did you not have to?
A superb work of art. Congratulations!
Thanks!!! I appreciate it 😊🤝👍
Wow, looking amazing! That must have been quite a moment putting those masts and yards into position.
Ohh yes.. thank you David 🤝😊
This is really amazing stuff!
Thank you so much Dude!!! 🤝😊
Awesome job!
Thank you David 🤝😊😊
This has been such a great help! Can I ask what glue are you using please?
Thank you ! 🤝glue from the kit and super glue 😊
Hi Tom, nice video! I’m thinking about getting an Occre model kit… How difficult are they to build? Other than Airfix kits from when I was a kid and small crafting projects here and there, an Occre wooden ship would be a first for me
Hello, this model is of medium difficulty level, but if it was the first model of a wooden ship, I would advise you to choose a lighter, smaller ship, good luck 👍😊
@@tomships thank you!
What kind of wood glue are you using on the 2nd planking?
Now i use tidebond glue, the best for me. And sometimes super moment glue :)
Thought I was bad at planking . Good effort but no
👍😊
I notice you’re planking the hull completely on one side first. Never having planked a model boat hull myself but, it was my understanding that planking progressed plank by plank on alternate sides until the job was done. Something about avoiding warpage of the keel? Can you please comment. Enjoying your work very much.
Por q no lo pones desde el principio
maybe you are right 👍😊 i think there is no big difference :)
Very nice but.... no sheer pole?
Sorry what? 😊
@@tomships Let me check when Sheer poles came into use. I thought all large sailing ships had them.
@@tomships Ok, here's what I found about the sheer poles from the fabulous book, 'Historic Ship Models' by Wolfram zu Mondfeld. (I highly highly recommend this book.) Page 288. The Sheer pole; "Sheer poles were introduced in the middle of the 19th century to prevent the shrouds twisting. They were round iron bars which were seized to the shrouds above the deadeyes or rigging screws." Well, I thought they were introduced much earlier! And now you know what they are.... so we both learned something! This is such a good book. Beautiful model Sir, I stand corrected. Thank you.
@@JamesFrost74659 thank you so much for sharing dude 🤝👍😊
I wish you would tapper those yards more. We dont want them to look like dowels.
👍😊
What paint did you use for burnt orange color? Cannot find anything close to it.
Woodstain (sweet cherry) 👍😊
Стенобитное устройство
not how you plank a hull...all the planks need to finish at the stem unless picked up earlier by a drop plank. The planks rising to end at another plank are just plain wrong, sorry. Dont do it this way
Very nice detail!
Thank you so much ! 😊👍
There is a more realistic pattern to use on the planking but it's about practice and I'm still trying to get better at it!
Yes you are right 🤝👍😊
whats the point of the pigment???
it is my mistake 🫣😊
I have done so many kits, from so many different vendors and these instructions are horrible.... thank you for a bit of help....
I'm glad I helped ! 😊
Hi, I’m not able to tell whether I’m supposed to user the thin or thicker black wire for the stools, which one is it?
Hi , as far as I remember it is thicker 😊
What brand and model number is your power sander ? Thanks in advance 😊
Parkside , but I have better one now. Ferm esm1015 :)
@@tomships Many thanks 🙏
