@douglascook258 thanks I watched the video and it works better with my old vertical input control module better. I can't seem to mix my original f1 Carrera go with the AliExpress Ferrari cars. When you push both turbos it stalls but that's ok I guess. How are you supposed to change the guide pins on the Ferrari and Lamborghini AliExpress cars?

Thanks, I couldn't agree more about the GO digital. All of these experiments and things I am doing with the GO tracks are trying to simulate some of the features in digital. The one advantage to my modded GO systems now, is that I can run a very competitive race with a single drone drone car vs. a single driver. I can make the lap times of a generic drone car match my fastest lap times with a Carrera car and it is a fight to the end. I can't even do that with my digital system, and have to run multiple drones/ghosts to make it more interesting.

I love that you keep pushing the limits of the Carrera GO system. It has so many possibilities - keep em coming!

@@HollandSlotCarRacing Thank you, I agree with the possibilities and still think the Go system is the best for single player drone racing. I'll be getting it going more on this track soon too.

This is Dallas Slot Cars in Mesquite Tx. It is about 20 minutes away from me. I went there a couple of times and checked it out, shot some footage, and caught the bug. Since then, I have already bought a couple of cars to race in 2 of the classes there and lost horribly in both of my first races last week. They also have a drag racing track for which I got another car to try that as well but have not had any success tuning it so far either. These analog commercial tracks are a whole different ballgame, but lots of fun.

You are welcome, Lew. I have started racing in some of the classes here which makes it nearly impossible for me to video much more. I'll try to get some shots here and there as I figure it out.

That would be the case if you wanted more crashes, and would definitely make it more of a spectator sport. These were some good drivers and as the race progressed, they stayed in the slot. This was the very last stint of the race. See some of the earlier stints for plenty of crashes. They didn't need a figure 8. Thanks for adding your opinion.

They are fun in a simple way so that anyone of nearly any age can enjoy it. The driver controls the speed of the car. There is a slot to keep the car on the track somewhat, but if you go too fast into a corner, the car comes out of the slot and crashes. There is a very fine line between going as fast as possible and crashing so racing with others is lots of fun as everyone tries to find the fastest possible speeds through the different curves around the course. The cars are often very nice looking scale models too, which makes them fun to collect. The hobby is also priced so that a person can enter into slot racing without spending as much as some other hobbies, but has the opportunity to scratch build scenery from cheap materials etc. Then there is tuning and timing the cars, etc. There is much more to it than immediately apparent. There are lots of other people in the TH-cam community with tracks and cars to see and tips on making things for them, or even scratch building your own cars.

Yes, I only have the standard 1/60s that come with sets plus some 1/30s to be able to make 90 degree corners with the same radius. That particular curve is actually a lane changing curve section with a 1/30 added to get 90 degrees. The tight corners make for a tough track but that is the only way I could find to fit this much track length on a 4*10 makeshift table. Its sort of a high speed figure 8 road course where anything is bound to happen. Thanks for asking.

You are not kidding, Lew. I can't tell what happens either at the speed these cars are going when watching in person. It's only when I get the footage uploaded and slowed that I notice some of the crazy tumbles. They go flying off the table sometimes too but I have not caught that on video yet. Actually, I think there are not many young kids interested in mechanical things these days. They are allowed and even encouraged, but would rather be on their phones or playing video games. A couple kids were there a few weeks ago and I let them drive some of my old cars on the road course. Most of the people who do this kind of slot car road racing are grandparents anymore, unfortunately. Thanks for noticing.

Thank you. You are correct in that observation. There are a few younger people involved, but it is mostly old men playing this game. It is a lot of fun though for all ages.

Thanks, you are correct about the camera. It is an old one that I've had for 15+ years. Its actually what I used for everything in the very beginning. it is fairly small and the wrong resolution to play well with modern cameras so I use it in the risky places.

Yes, one side of the track favors the lanes on one side and the other turns favor the opposite lanes. it is fairly even in the end. The drivers rotate through all the lanes too so they get to try their hand at the inside and outside lanes for all turns. Thanks for your input.

Thanks, Joe. This was the best usage of the narrow table space and track pieces I had available. (4*10 ft.) For now, it has become a "rim ride" with everyone trying to ride the outside fence at high speed, or crash if they miss the lane change. It is a fun track.

This is one of the few wipe-outs from the stint as the drivers were getting settled and laying down some clean laps.

I have kind of mixed luck with Scalextric cars too. These have "Slot It" tires on them which may be helping. I don't know if I will ever learn to slow down enough. Thanks for the info.

Thanks you. It was something that made sense on the small scale. I think simpler spoon handles would look more like the basic lights seen on roads around here, but for my track we get the the fancy split handles.

Most likely my shoulders will have the catch fence built into them like on my Go track, and they will be able to stick over the end of the table in the same way. I don't have table room, but the assembly supports itself if hung over the edge of a table.

I can't find MDF here in the right thickness. I would still have to cover or back it with some other material. I don't know how this rubber will work, but I'll have a follow up video at some time, once I have built and tested sufficiently. I want to run 1/24th. scale cars also, and I'm with you about the necessity of shoulders. They are needed just for 1/32s

Thanks, I hope so. If this works then it will be a cheap and easy way to custom build shoulders to suit your exact layout. You could build some stuff like this to suit your track, have borders everywhere, and not spend $1k on border pieces for your huge track.

Supposedly, the track record is currently held by that red lane. All the drivers rotate over one lane every 3 minute stint so by the end of the race, everyone has driven every lane. I think I will try my hand at the race this Saturday.
