In 1967 I was a young television production guy in south texas. I got involved with this special and ended up producing the special along with Leigh Cardwell of the News Dept. Realize this is a live no video tape playback special in B & W ( dumont cameras (2) ) and this was recorded on a RCA TR-1 video tape machine that was in a trailer some 8x12 ft with no intergrated circuits just tubes and t...

Only 4 at that time, I still remember this 1967 hurricane affecting Corpus Christi. I even still remember prior to any tropical storm or hurricane's arrival, our TV screen would demonstrate a weather bulletin indicating either a watch or warning with either a black or obscure gray background in either white or light gray graphics I think with words Weather Bulletin & either a face with eyes, pointy nose, small lips blowing wind & windy hair that I reckon was supposed to represent either mother nature or tropical storm or hurricane. I thought I was going to view it here. It was close though even though It wasn't exhibited here. In 1970 during hurricane Celia, I remember viewing same Weather Bulletin with face blowing wind.
I was in this one too, along with Hurricane Celia 1970!
I didn't get to the valley until 1980 (right after Allen, as a matter of fact!), but plenty of people had very clear memories of the devastation. This was fascinating -- thanks so much for posting.
i was born during hurricane beulah when it struck what a way to enter the world couldn't have asked for a better way to enter the world!
brings back memories. I remember Lee Cardwell both from the news and also being a neighbor of mine in Progreso
Again, classic video...thanks for sharing it.
Absolutely no doubt that this is classic video. Fortunately, we don't see many storms re-intensify like this after crossing over the Yucatan. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.
