It's 2025 and we are considering a move to either Canada or Spain. Love both.
How did you find a runner?
@@MrsFashionFinds my spouse sponsor connected me with one. If you want to message me privately I’ll give you his info!
Do you happen to know how long it takes for the military to let you know on your status to move?
@@MrsFashionFinds you should have a contact with the company who they hired to move you and that person can update you. I emailed with mine. They were great at keeping me updated along the way. But it was also the beginning of the shut down so it probably took way longer for my move!
For massage in Spain you need to go to Centro Estéticos, just like Italy, there are two types of massage ; at the massahe centers (sketchy) or the Centro Bennesere for a spa like experience.
@@reginapolo3357 wish I would have known that sooner lol
how do you find a runner?
very helpful. thanks. how did you find your runner?
@@TheSheilachantilly through a spouse sponsor! You can get one through your spouses command. Or ask in the rota community fb group!
I’m moving to Rota in December How much has changed since then ??
Biddet is use for the ladies higiene care. Only in houses master bedroom. Very common in countries that were colonies of Spain. Puerto Rico hold many houses with that feature. Happy wife, happy marriage ❤
How much is the rent per month? What are their requirements as of rent deposit etc? Thanks FL USA
Spanish with 56 years here. I have never seen any house in Spain that needs dehumidifiers to prevent mold... These dehumidifiers will be to avoid the humid heat that makes the thermal sensation at 30ºC higher than 40ºC.
Hi, thank you so much for the info.
Our plan is to be in Spain for 3yrs. I noticed you gave the rank of your husband. My Son on law is a E7. He maybe a Chief before we leave Virginia Beach. This is my first time traveling with him. There are E 4 of us. So, the option is due to rank in terms according to rank? Again, thank you for the information.
Bread with good olive oil weird? And you prefer butter instead? That is so sad to say the least 😂
It’s the American way and it’s delicious🙂
@@taylormitchell2130 British originally..But ok, whatever 😂. You know olive oil (the real deal) is not only delicious but actually can help with the American way of excessive sugar on everything and saturated fats? Just saying. Edit: And … Do you mean by “American way” that all the Americans I know that use olive oil have lost “their way”? I know for a fact that many places produce it in the US and wine and they enjoy it (I must say it is pretty good too, never had before the mission kind). Probably not “real Americans” right? Not like the ones in your town 😜😂. Pardon my rudeness, but can’t help it with this sacred issue hehe.
@@frgv4060 I didn’t know it was British! Learn something new every day lol. We know olive oil is healthier than bread and butter, we just don’t care 😅 I actually cook with olive oil daily. I rarely eat butter. Bread and butter is more like an appetizer at a restaurant for me. But growing up it’s what my great grandmother served with big family dinners🥰 No, I don’t mean they’ve lost their way lol. It’s a tongue in cheek phrase, it’s not that deep. 😉 You can’t categorize all Americans to be anything because we are so diverse. But I do believe butter is more common in America than lots of other countries. I could be wrong though.
Hi Taylor! I’ve been watching your videos religiously as I’m moving out to Rota later this year (hopeful for November!). Could I contact you through instagram for further guidance on my move?:)
I lived in El Puerto. It's much better for families and will feel much more like neighborhoods in the USA. The English Center is a fantastic private school that is very affordable.
Malega ?
Is it hard for military spouses to find jobs in Rota?
I don’t know anybody that has one. If you want one on base it’s super competitive. They have laws there that say for every American they hire on base they have to hire like 5 Spaniards or something like that. So there’s not very many on base at all. If you want one out in town you’d definitely have to be fluent in Spanish. But if you are it may be possible! I’m not sure how you go about it at that point.
Thanks! We just got orders to Rota for July 2024. Your video was really helpful! You’re probably back in the states now- but I hope you loved your experience in Spain
I hope you have the best time!!!
My wife and I visited Spain for 2 weeks in 2015 as my son was stationed in rota it was a wonderful experience we want to go back my son was in rota for nearly 2 years and loved it as well
14:00: it has nothing to do with storms, you close it at night so people don’t see inside your house, or during hot days to keep the house cold. Every single apartment and house in Europe has it, not only Spain.
Every time I return to America I feel like a real person because everyone else in South America and Europe live in a little persons home lol. And the you go to Texas and the small is an XXXXXXXXL 😂
What about moving with pets? We have 2 dogs and a cat.
Glad I found your video, its useful information, on things to know. Thinking about moving there. Thank you!
You do get central heating and air in Spain, just usually in more modern houses. Yours seems like a "renovated" townhouse (I checked it out given the relative position to the castle). Also Cadiz is warm enough yearlong so you dont need heating. Most houses there do have AC tho. Those blinds you hate are precisely to block the light and the views. Interior temperature is very efficiently regulated by controling the amount of light (=heat) coming into the house so wise people only raise them in the summer once the sun is down so air remains cool inside. Much more healthier then using the SC all day. The only moment I think you could use a dehumidifier in that part of Spain is when there is slow west wind (levante en calma). The rest of the time is a pretty dry time. Same with the bugs. Bugs only get into your house when is wet or when the house is not clean. We clean our houses with bleach so bugs have no reason to wander in.
Very helpful thanks
You are happy in rota and I just want to break off and travel along USA by Amtrak from NYc to San Francisco,How much it would cost?
A few tips, firstly escape the tourist traps, secondly never go into a restaurant that has pictures of their dishes and thirdly different regions of Spain have different types of cuisine, having a paella outside the Valencia region is almost certain to have fallen into a tourist trap
Hi, I was wondering about the shopping mall in Jerez. My son just got to Rota and says the NEX doesn’t have much of a variety of clothes. I googled and that mall came up. It says it’s about 25 mins by car from the base. Are there clothing stores there?
In Spain there are no clothing stores, here we walk with loincloths, feathers, bows, arrows and war paint...
@@Roque-Cachamuiña-gs1wd thanks for your sarcastic comment!!
@@mariacecena3700 Humor should never be lost. I hope your son has a good time in Spain and that he discovers that there is life beyond the base
Do most people know English or will we just end up learning Spanish ?
You will be on a different continent and country than yours... What do you think?
Como que no habláis español cuando la mayor parte de tu país perteneció al imperio español? Pues lo mismo , el español es la segunda lengua materna más hablada del 🌎
Kind of want to hear about that massage experience 😂
hahaha just trust me, don't do it!!
We are moving to Rota next month!! These videos are so helpful 🙌🏼
I'm so glad!! Thanks for being here!
Hi, this is random but Im considering Rota spain and I do have two kids. we wouldnt move there til like 2025 but I see in your photo you have a child and Im just wondering how you are enjoying it there so far since it seems liek you have been there a few months now. Do you live on or off base? Thanks for indulging me if you choose to :)
We lived in Rota for 3 years…left in 2021. We lived in a free standing house, with a pool on Jesus Resucitado (street name)…near The Steakhouse restaurant and the Féria fairgrounds. Just so you know…the Spanish know EXACTLY how much you receive in housing allowance by your rank…so negotiate as much as you can for utilities to be included in your rent. Our landlord was AMAZING and would do anything for us. He and his family treated us like their family. We enjoyed the safety there…we would walk at midnight…so many families were still out walking….just enjoying life,
Rota is a town that parents walk their kids to school, I was shocked to see that. And double thumbs up to the beaches there!
*Rota exists because of you, for not having helped the young democracy of the Second Republic against the bloodthirsty dictator Franco. In addition to the fact that you have to ask us for forgiveness for having stained our reputation in the 19th century together with the English with the anti-Spanish black legend, return the help we gave you in your war of independence and return the stolen territories of Puerto Rico and Guam.*
I’m so happy i found this. I was worried with all the options i saw online. I’ll be there next spring!
I wonder why this kichen seems small to you. Do americans cook their whole week full of food on one go? Or they usually have at least 5 kid family to feed? 🙂
Are you willing to answer a couple questions. My husband is retired military and my son has orders to Rota. Contact me via email if your okay with it.
Omg this is great! I’m planning a trip possibly for spring break in march (about to be retired military) I’m so glad I found your channel.
Hi Taylor! Love your videos! Here's a bidet explanation that may be TMI: In Middle Eastern and Far Eastern cultures, it's considered important to actually wash our private parts with water rather than just smear our discharges around with paper. We use regular plastic jugs or bottles when no bidet is available. It's a great, clean feeling.😆😅🤣😂🙃
americans use wet wipes a lot
Is Rota vegan or vegetarian friendly?
You cannot turn in red light in hole Europe: in most of the cases because the pedestrians has the right to cross streets when the cars are stopped in the crossing street in red. You can cause an accident! I grow up in Cadiz, and I have lived in Rota. I know a lot of cases of americans causing car accidents in Rota. Please respect the driving rules for the safe of everyone.
First, thanks for your video and show my country. Sorry to correct you, but I grew up in Cadiz province. The southern Spanish architecture is the one that influence the Morocco architecture. Morocco doesn't even exist when all this Spanish cities were built. The art style is call ANDALUSÍ. The Roman city is BAELO CLAUDIA. It was a fisherman city where the Romans produced the GARUM, a FISH sauce delicatessen. You didn't show Cadiz town? The city Napoleon fail to conquer.
Thank you for your videos!! How do you get a real estate runner, if not in the military?

Thank you for making these videos for all of us! Can I ask if you know of any Marines stationed there? We are a military family and would love to get stationed there but would likely need to swap with a Marine that’s leaving (I think). Thank you SO much
Thank you so much!! I don’t know of any marines I’m sorry! I hope you find someone♥️
