Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. A new video will be released today, plus there is going to be a new video tomorrow, playing a game for Honorable Aristocrat there, which was for me the most unexpected game by any means.
Merci et super !! 👍
Thanks, Peter. 👋
👌Encore une belle victoire, bravo👏et merci pour la découverte de cette carte.
Merci. 🐲J’étais heureux de le faire. 🖖
👍Impressionnant ! 👋
Appreciate it. And thanks for stopping by. 🐲🖐
а почему не всю карту захватил? По сути это только начало игры
So you're saying, that 13-hour length video isn't long enough… Well, only this one has 226 GB. 🙂 Not mentioned postprocessing, uploading etc. In reality it requires much more time.
@@QuietDragonStandstill 8000bit/s for 1440p - it s ok
Any tips this seems impossible?
You got it there in the description. 🐉
You need to make a game who got a lot of war
What do you mean by that exactly, like being at war with every nation in the next game?
@@QuietDragonStandstill yes i mean that
I'm afraid it would be a quick end when playing on highest difficulty. Maybe if the starting position was equal, like when every nation begins with only one city and the game was about 130 points, yeah. But still, you will need at least one strong partner in alliance to make it a success I think, if there are 6 or more opponents in the game. It could be interesting.
I just want to say thank you for uploading more old world content. It is always a pleasure looking at the different leaders, scenarios, and maps available.
Thank you for your support and I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos. 🐉
@@QuietDragonStandstill would it be possible for you to do commentary over your videos, if you have the time?
@@JohnDoe-vv9zp Unfortunately not. It never was my intention to comment my videos that way. That's the reason why Quiet Dragon exists. These days, there may be the prevalent trend to do commentary for one and probably the bigger group of people, however there still is the second group of those who like it the other way of watching it quietly without any annoying noises coming from around it. Let's say, to stay true to its original essence. Besides it would be extremely difficult to comment on 6-hour length videos. For players who are new in this genre there is an explanation in the description and all people can comment or ask questions. I'm aware that it will never be enough, but I keep trying to do my best. My intension is to support people to play strategy games. I believe this has the potential to improve better thinking. Because as time passes, we can see that impatience and shortcuts don't work in most cases, even in real life situations.
@@QuietDragonStandstill Ok, I respect that. I will try to get a good gaming pc so I can play old world, humankind and the like.
@@QuietDragonStandstill Also I wish there were better strategy games for the consoles. Because even though civ 6 is a good start i feel that it is lacking somewhat
have you try game of the week mode before?this week is set on the great with babylonia ,seem a litte bit hard for me
No, I haven't tried it yet, but I might.
Merci pour cette vidéo ! Encore une belle victoire 👍👏
My pleasure, thank you. 🐉
woa, this camp kinda the shortest in all the vid i seen b4,i wonder why ?maybe cos of few bad event or the point cap is lower
You mean the length of the game? Well, this was one of the hardest maps I have ever played. 43 points, tight space, hostile territory and difficult to connect all cities by roads in short time. After a few lost games it was clear a different approach was needed here. And that's why the first sentence “Our Blades Will Speak for Us” does speak for itself… 😊
There is an option in the Audio menu for a Recording and Streaming Copyright Safety mode, enabling that should allow you to play the in game music and not get flagged for copyright.
Thanks for the info. There are two maps left, so I think I'm going to finish it the same way and then will see what happens.
Bravo, super 👍👏
I appreciate it 🖐
Without that early tribal alliance, this camp might be a lost for that 2 tribe 's war
That alliance was lucky. On the other hand, being at two wars right from the start, plus that third Scythians raiding later on, that's the thing you don't want. Overall, this is a big plus of it. I mean the fact, there won't be two identical games, no matter how many games you have played.
this time rider is the opening city,is that a new strategy ?why dont you choose the garrion location for the first city,is the default location always good?
No, it isn't always good, but I preferred sorghum this time. 😊 I was thinking about horses (orders) and city connections. And there was +1 order and +2 training, which I found reasonable. In the late game you can see there are some horses there, but most of them are far away from cities. Look at that upper triangle Karalis - Sulci - Nora at 1:32:05. There is big gap among those cities. No chance to connect them by border. And the end game was different strategy.
have to go back and forth to chop wood kinda an order nightmare at early game, haha. You aim for the Doctrine tech at the start even though it take a ton of science to complete,is that the right way to play akhenaten?
Yeah, exactly. Tough one. I really have gained wood after Per-Amun settled, which was at 2:38:00. I believe so, yes. Everything under 50 points is hellishly difficult. Every conflict is a heavy burden to bear and leads to death...
Execllent work,so lucky to have an extra slinger at begining, you should try Akhenaten next, his requirement is opening with clecric famlily would be a tough choice for the great i guess. Is the tech researching way suggest by Computer to us is good? How would you choose the next tech to reseach(except stone cutting always a have-to tech :3 ) .And why at 33:45 ,that numidians horsemen suddenly become yours despite of no event or recuitment,i thought babylon only gain additional unit when capture the first camp ?
Hey man, thanks. In most cases I'm OK about tech. But… Stonecutting tech probably should be banned for every nation, or the opposite, free for all. Some nations have it right from the start, others don't. You can see it clearly, that almost all weak and developing wonders are gone in the blink of the eye. Many wonders give solid culture and points. Wonder is the equivalent to a city. It boosts a city, which means those nations have strong and legendary cities earlier. That leads to another fact, which is the possibility to build that strong and legendary wonders next. Where there is no stonecutting from the start there should be at least open drama tech or divination. Still, this is just basic calculation from what I can see and can feel, and I believe that guys behind this game have better data on the table. At the same time, I believe that something should be done about it. Plus, one more thing. Less cities for the opponent. In this scenario, Persia had 8 cities right from the start. That's just too many for 50 point game. Next tech could be anything. It depends what you need at the moment. It still is the Numidian horseman. It is just health info. I would also welcome bigger maps, 100 point game should be fine. There is nice potential in this game.
Thanks for the tips, any specific strategy for trying to win by points?
Hey, man. Not an easy question. Many things have been said. Build healthy economy and try to establish good relations with all major nations nearby. Find and follow religion.
can you try Agrippina of Rome next, i think her kit kinda weak to play on the great
Yes, I can try that.
is it vital to clear the first barb camp nearby, most of my game i cant find them soon enough to take them out with just a unit or get to them require too much order(through couple of hill or in deep forest) and they spam the next unit and im stuck between create more unit to clear that camp and city developing, are there some leader unfit to play on high diffculty(like not having good starting general or trait that gain advantage early game)
It's the same what you can see in my videos. Most of the time they are visible right from the start, like one or two of those encampments nearby the city. Scout has better view radius, so use everything. Upgrade the unit. Use terrain to your advantage, assign a zealot general if you have any.
it feel like in the great, you cant min/max build thing but must choose the least worse possible thing to do and expansive as much as you can,and cant wage war to conquer the weak nation nearby since barbarian strong enough(unlike Civ that the warmonger Nation can aim to conquer some weak enemy first)
Exactly. That's why I think there should be about max 4 cities for PC opponent when the game begins. Not 6, 7 etc. That's just pure nonsense. Such nation can build both, strong army and economy too. If the end game is about 50 points, it's very, very hard to compete. I have seen it many times. There are wars raging there and the final result is, that those strong nations have about 10 - 15 cities very quickly. Now try to count the outputs from everything. It's like a rocket.
why the first city artisan but not hunter (3 camp ,could be 4,nearby) ,cos of the 2 worker or you think of mass build ship and range unit,?BTW,can you share some tip playing on the great, like something an experienced player would do but the great AI wont :3
Yes, it was an option, but I prioritized potential for fast growth, one more worker and +20% output from mines and lumbermills. Everyone can have a different style. Hard to say. Some players may think they have to play super defensive which obviously isn't enough. Like to build so many units from the start and do walls and festivals almost in every city. That's wasted time and the main potential of this game and you have to lose at least 90% of games. Now you can see there is no fog in the timeline and that's the reality of the game. I have spoken about it somewhere... Some PC opponents may have 5 or even more cities from the beginning. How can you possibly win the game when you build walls in every city etc.? No, you just can't. In some cities you can build walls on the edge, where there is a threat, but it won't save you 100%. You are losing points right from the start, so the first thing you need is healthy economy and good relation ships with your neighborhood and families. And it's not possible to have it all in balance. There are many nations there, and there are many things happening in this game, which means you have to react differently everytime. Sometimes we have to lose to win. That's the most important message of this game. Then, we can learn from our mistakes.
Late game when 3 strong nation begin to attack you was wild,if they strike sooner or the game last longer, would you lose to them?
Hard to say. In 8:04:05 it's better to give up that city to Babylonia. There's good relation ship with that queen. Assyria was good and strong partner in our alliance, so I think we could have crushed Rome in the north-west. We had all types of units needed for this conflict waiting there, and perfect, healthy and strong economy too. Those attacks by Persia from the middle-west and south-west side were weak. Militarily, both Rome and Persia were strong nations, that's clear. But those key units I was sending south-east were missing in north-west... If Egypt was involved in that conflict, it was the worst-case scenario.
you seem like the grand vizier mechanic,is entrusting city production to AI for some bonus could be better than do it yourself ? And you use shrine to expand border and for the culture(like the shrine of poseidon in the vid) cos the bonus adjancency like not good enough, right?
It depends. Let's say AI does good job overall. Sometimes you have to lead, at other times, Grand Vizier can do it better. If cities are connected (roads, rivers etc.), he grants some special bonuses in science and orders. Normally, he gives about 5 - 10 happiness points per turn to every city, which is really good. Don't get me wrong. Adjacency bonus is good enough, I use it in every single game, but sometimes you just need a different product (have different goal). To give an example. There are 2 or more workers finishing their job in the next turn, so, you want to spend all orders effectively this turn, because you know there isn't a better time than right now to do it. If there was war or any invasion, your workers do nothing and you spend all those orders to defend your cities. At this point, you have no adjacency bonus, nothing, because you have waited so long, economy of your nation goes down, other nations, if there is no war, go up, and time is running out rapidly. Shrines are very special in many ways. You can build them in the middle of nowhere, and, as you point out, can give you nice bonus in culture and other bonuses too. Shrine of Poseidon also gives money bonus etc. The game can be very difficult and unforgiving if you play poorly. You have to limit your losses, manage your resources carefully, and set up the laws the right way. This isn't an easy task. Behind the Throne is just perfect. The whole game is more balanced, I like it, and it's only going to get better.
why ya not build the shrine of osiris next to the mountain in menefer and the barrack in gebtu next to the garrison to gain adjency bonus,is those bonus matter little in this stage of the game
Garrison. There was one order left, so it was better to build something than did nothing. Shrine of Osiris. Before that, there was just one option there. One free tile next to the mountain. But the main thing is quarry. Stone is priority number one, especially when you want to expand quickly. In this stage I can't have all shrines in every city, because I don't have Polytheism law. There is another city next to Menefer on the left side. You must build anything to connect that other city as soon as possible. If there was war you have little chance to defend that city without orders, which you'll see soon in the next video. There is one pasture, horses in Menefer, and another two I can see in Gebtu. Let's say not many overall. Wasn't easy game but like it.
Is free ebony that good?i dont know,i always have a hard time choosing what tech is suited to research next for current situation,i even tempted by free settler or free unit early game😅
Yep, that was it. I had hard time too, so took this for opulence project. Free settler is very reasonable choice. It takes a few turns there. I use it very frequently. Free unit can be good in some cases... When I forgot to build military units in the city and boosting just economic growth. 🤑
why you build farm first on a title with no resource(the wheat is nearby) in the first turn?
The reason is this. When trees removed completely, it will give you 2 x 20 wood. The cost of farm is 20 wood. From the beginning I know I'm going to need that wheat farm, so now I have 40 wood already which means I save movement and orders. To build that wheat farm is my highest priority from the start, but not necessarily at this very moment. I have no orders to do that now, but I must build any farm in first turn. I can't lose one turn waiting for slightly better output. Instead, I can prepare my attack and scout the area nearby when I have order or two to do that. There I can find nice ruins, food and enemy encampments which is a big advantage for me.
how would you choose a way to raise a heir, like have at least one child to have good trait like his/her parent ,is let them learn in the wild any good?
You can tutor children, at least 10 year old, via Courtiers, or Kings in some cases. Sometimes you can't teach children when: 1. You don't have any tutor 2. You have tutor, but he/she has a job, usually as governor. Once you free that position you can tutor children. When there is any tutor available, you can see that option clearly there. Just click on the portrait of that child and you'll see. You can send a child to travel. It is better than do nothing. But it isn't truth, that parents' traits are always good. Sometimes horrible. And that's why there are another chances to change that when adequate event occurs. But it's not for free. This kind of event usually gives some good parameters and at the same time it takes something away. This is what I really like in this game. Possibilities.
@@QuietDragonStandstill no,you misunderstood me,i mean “the way” you raise a child, not how to do it,but how you aim him/her to be,to have as much good trait as possible or to ready him/her to be in position like his/her predecessor (a governor or a general)
The best and easy way how to do it is via tutor. Try to have at least 2 points in discipline, wisdom, or charisma. Money, science or civics are always useful. If you can't teach children for any reason now (lack of tutors, money, orders), you can do it via events later in the game. You may not see it now, but it doesn't necessarily mean it isn't there. In one of my previous videos, Assyria The Great Coastal Rain Basin, the longest reign leader, Ashurbanipal II, gained most of his benefits after age 18. Of course, it is a big, big advantage to have such leader in the game. Don't remember the exact number, but I believe he had about +100 civics per turn. On the other side, I also had weak child or leader in other games too, and I was happy when the time of his or her reign was over. Just don't expect that your future leader will be the same as that current one. Assyria The Great Coastal Rain Basin: In the link below 3 59 30, I added the key moment named He has such charisma. Now that number is even bigger... th-cam.com/video/uZp-yG4eCFA/w-d-xo.html
do ya got any advice on city project,i only do them when there nothing else worth to do with minor city, any particular combo or chain effect?
Yes, I have. Need lots of money, civics and science almost in every game. That's why Treasury, Forum and Archive are the key element. Plus do specialists, those are even more important. Watch every single parameter of every specialist. It will be added after finished. Think of what the most important thing to do first is. What do I need to do, what is the key thing I don't have right now? Watch Timeline and Records, see statistics. It is clear, that specialists are the most important thing in the game, because many of them give many important key outputs to you. To be able to have some of those, you also need to build better improvements, libraries, academies, churches etc. It is the backbone of the economy. And the last three things. Take one of my videos, if you like any, and watch it completely. Like half an hour or one hour a day. Play the game often and try to do some things differently. Be patient. 😊
The city projects are all situational. Specialists are generally what you're going to want to be building as you move towards the end game. Which specialist depends on which town and what they're primarily producing. Festival you use primarily when you need growth to be able to pump out another specialist or settler. In the early game, it can be used as a generic placeholder production if you don't want to buy resources or are you're saving your resources/money for an early game wonder. Inquiry is great for catching up to the AI in tech, as well as helping push a victory endgame if you're going for the VPs from the last 3 repeatable techs. All the projects that give a large sum and then a small local boost (Forums, Archives, Treasuries) are okay to build, but not super impactful when compared to specialists IMO. What makes them better are the bonuses, so for example if you're order strapped and have a decent amount of cities, Acropolis + Forums in every city give you 0.5 orders for each city, making each forum essentially equivalent to a camp that gives civics as well, so they become really good. Archives become great with Gnosticism. Treasuries are more for military towns if you're running Professional Army, or if your really desperate to balance out your money. Walls are going to be for your border towns, but a well built military does this job and is something you're going to want regardless, so walls tend to be kinda not worth it long term. Olympiad if you're playing as Greece is awesome in the Champion seat. Decrees are great to micro for war time, meaning you que them up and then put something else at the front of the que when the timer is at 1 turn, that way if you have an upcoming war you have a few turns of additional orders for movement, or hopefully to snowball. And then council is just there if there's truly nothing you want to build. But even that is situational. If you need just enough civics to pass a law a little earlier, or need to build up some money to buy a wonder, or need to assign a few generals etc etc then it's useful in a pinch. It's all situational. There's no 1 size fits all answer here.
As I mentioned in the previous video, in Timeline you can see the exact number of cities of every nation. Now, let me count. Kush has 7 cities… Hatti and Greece 4 each, Rome, Egypt and Persia 3 each. I haven't watched every timeline when the fog is off, but now I know this is quite normal. I have seen this a few times, that Kush had like 6 or 7 cities in the beginning. If the End Point Cap is like 64 Points and you have 1 city when the game starts, it simply may not be enough for you in most games that you can really win. I play the same difficulty everytime, default settings, hundreds of hours in the game, so I know very well that this is about 4 or 5 cities for other nations but 7? I think about 3 - 5 cities for PC opponent is OK, a hell of a challenge. But the End Point Cap should be higher if PC opponent has 7 cities already. I believe this will be changed, one way or another, in some patch in the future.
which difficulty is this?
All should be the same, The Great difficulty.
look like you like to win by ambition
In fact, to win Ambition Victory, you have to have luck a little too. Not easy. It is some kind of combination of a few wonders, many cities, good science, culture, money, happy families, and real ambitions you can realize in real time somehow. Have to go very hard from the start. Points Victory is even harder. Well, it is almost equal, tough fight both ways. In the next game in Timeline, fog off, I will show the advantage of the pc opponent where you can see the number of cities when the game starts.
new mechanic kinda good
Yeah, now I feel it is more ballanced. Especially the Project Opulence, which is very nice new mechanics. Solving the situation when you play the hardest difficulty, have one city in the beginning and PC has many cities already. You have nothing and the bigest problem is discontent in cities etc. So what are you going to do first? Well, this is the hard call, because every single game is different, but now there is a lot to choose from.
thanks for the video. keep up the good work.
Thanks man.
@@QuietDragonStandstillmake 迦太基 great again.
@@曾志海-c4z OK. Will be there.
This is with the new DLC?Interesting
Hey man, yeah it is. But I haven't seen any of new buildings, leaders etc. If anyone have the same problem, could you let me know? I think that something is wrong here and I don't know why.
I found out. It's implemented into single (random) maps only.
So helpful
Thanks man.
How Similar and Different are the Intrigues in This Game Compared to CK3?
Hey men, I can't answer that. Have no experience with Crusader Kings.
@@QuietDragonStandstill thanks for your reply. So what's your opinion about scheme in Old World? I really like strategic games with scheme. Can you win the game with scheme?
In my opinion, you can play scheme. Schemer leader (spider symbol) can buy orders for legitimacy (crown symbol), training and money. It can be very useful when need orders desperately which is, in fact, in every single game when play higher difficulties. To buy orders simply click on the scroll symbol next to leader picture and then another action is ready. You also can use spymaster to infiltrate/slander nation, steel research (science), or create agent network in foreign cities once you have Portcullis, Cartography and Scholarship technology. Usually, you can't have every single technology because of lack of time and lack of science. Can one win the game with schemer leader? Yes, but you need other leader types too, and leaders die quite often. It depends on how much turbulent the game is. Still, you can use scheme with your spymaster if you have technology for that. There are so many possibilities in this game which is good. That is the scheme in itself, I think. The best way is to start the game and try it in different ways every time. Lost, learn the lesson and the same again.
good play
I appreciate it. Lost breath in science in the end so it was very close.
great
Thanks man.
Hey man, I was wondering considering you played this game a lot. I have been looking for the secret units hidden in this game. There is a Polish 7TP Light Tank in the “Barbarossa Mission but in the game files there is a Zyrini II a Hungarian Tank destroyer with a 105mm gun, perhaps you saw it somewhere?
Hi man, thanks for your comment. I have checked my last video from this mission. It is quite big map and I must admit there are many black spots there I didn't visit. So, if there is such thing it may be hidden anywhere. This mission wasn't that hard and I have played it just a few times the same way. Yeah, you are right, these days it is the only game I play and the more I play the better it is. Really nice game. If I find anything I'll let you know.
