This is part 2 of my video on sailboat righting moment. In this video I compare the Wave Rider and Weta trimarans, Yellow Pages Endeavour, Hydroptere, and Sail Rocket 2 and possible future record breakers. Please note, while I have tried to represent all these boats as accurately as possible based on published specs, there may be some small discrepancies in my illustrations, in the actual hull buoyancies, weight distributions and boat geometries. This exercise was initially done out of my own curiosity to try to fine a pattern to determine how much sail area the wingmaran and other boats I am designing could carry, however, now it is the beginning of the pursuit of a unified formula to determine the predicted top speed of a foiling sailing craft. There have already been formulas for estimating the top speed of a displacement keel boat, but never a formula for boats that lift up on hydrofoils and hydroplaning surfaces. That is my next project!
