Don't buy the straight wind will tangle. Never tangled for me. With the figure8 method the lines tend to slide down the angle and get loose, and more chance of catching/tangling on the next unwind. Also prefer wind to the kite, and out from the kite. That means you won't need a stake, and you always have the kite tied. And after an unwind you're ready to go right away.

but if you hold it in your hand, can it orient itself with the wind or do you have to plant it on the ground? because when mounted it looks like a fixed block with no axis of rotation to follow the wind

Kurt, do you know where I can source bridle specs for 22 ft. Premier fish kites. My Peace fish swings to sn extreme and I wish to attenuate the motion without resorting to a small delta as a pilot. Please advise. Glenn Mitchell.

Kurt, I have a pair of Premier 220 spinners. The leading edge reinforcement is deformed due to packaging. If like to know if the stiffener is hollow tube or solid rod, I'd like to know if heat will relax the reinforcement structure. I'd like to know if the reinforcement is essential to the operation of the spinner. If you can answer any of these questions based on experience, not speculation, I'd appreciate your wisdom.
