You explained so well some of the grievances I had with this whole event. I was part of the splatoon group and the main reason we wanted entered the masquerade was to do a performance. They ended up updating the rules only a couple days before the con and even though they took out any mention of skits their language made it sound like there was another option that they weren't mentioning. Also their description for the masquerade still says skits. Sorry your prejudging experience was ruined. Glad we skipped it but one day I would like to do it.
