Wow! I wish I had more friends with your clarity and ability to describe their needs. Everything you said is exactly what I wanted to know about. Your video is really helpful! You said so any things I’d love to talk about - but hold back - when making friends w someone new.(and I’m a neurotypical.) It takes a lot of courage to start friendships. My new friend is on the spectrum, but listening to your video, all the points you touched on are good to consider/talk about with any friend. I appreciate everything you said and especially that it’s important not to take it personally if my friend w autism needs to leave or forgets to say goodbye. I’m glad I know not to inadvertently rush my friend into anything and also to be very straightforward. You answered so many questions for me and made it a positive thing to be curious! Thank you! Now that I know a little more about what to consider while getting to know my new friend, i feel more encouraged and less awkward.

I'm getting the feeling that I have eventually come to terms with the fact that I been trapped in this apartment of mine for about two years now. And now it's probably kind of safe to say that I'm okay with it. For software developers like me I reckon it's supposed to be somewhat easy to get accustomed to the new norm, the new reality, you could say. Well it steams from the fact that many believe that programmers just, you know, sit and code all day long so nothing has really changed for them in that respect but let me tell you this: it couldn't be further from the truth. I could swear that social isolation that I was forced into hit me reaaaal hard, I remember how I most stopped enjoying life: no bikes, no footie, no walks in the park, no hanging out with my friends, no cafes, no restaurants where I would sit coding something up or just chatting with my colleagues after work, no traveling abroad....all of a sudden the world stopped spinning...and then one day I thought to myself that instead of sitting and lamenting bitterly over all this pandemic stuff I could be spending more time on developing my programming skills and guess what: it worked. So now I spend days at home and it's all fine. I don't know where you come from exactly (even though judging by your accent, I guess it's the United States) but here in Russia most no one is vaccinated, and yet most everyone openly disregards the rules and goes around displaying that awful "I couldn't care less about ya'll" attitude towards others. So going out would be dangerous here.

Focus has been helpful. Loyalty is good, but bad if blindly loyalty. I've directed that loyalty toward myself. I look at myself as a separate person who I protect. I'm 64 years old and tried most of my life to deal with meltdowns. I reduced them but they seem to just be a part of me. A few years ago I decided to become a hermit. It has been interesting. I've been surprised how I've slowly changed over the 2 years of being a hermit. One interesting thing is meltdowns have been completely absent. Not just that they don't happen but that the underlying stress that caused them is gone. I've really enjoyed being a hermit. Plus many people in the world seem to have gone insane, or maybe I just started noticing. It has been like being on vacation. No masking, no trying to figure out people. And with covid it's been safer. When people judge me I generally cut them out of my life. I don't see the loss. I've had a really great life. I was married twice which was OK, but if I went back in time I would have skipped that. I never wanted or had children.I had a career as a software programmer which I got into just as all that was starting so I got to create video games and products at companies where personal computers started doing UI work. It's pretty whacked that looking back I probably worked with a bunch of other Aspies, that was long before people knew much about Asperger's, but weird that Aspies would the ones creating user products for NTs. That Aspies understood how NT brains worked more than NTs did. Now I've reduced my current interests to 3. Gardening, remodeling homes and writing software. I retired 19 years ago but have written software almost everyday since then. A few times for money but most just on things I want. I wanted to know what I could create if I just focused on one pretty simple task.

I have aspergers and personally Its like hell for me because I have a hard time making eye contact, I have difficulty recalling memories, I can't understand some jokes, I can't read the facial expressions of others, I am sound sensitive, and I can't stop flapping my hands. This disorder is too much for me and I wish it could be cured

Have you ever encountered the wonderful surprise of a huge untrimmed blob of fat on an otherwise perfectly edible piece of chicken? NASTY! Suggestion for grape tomatoes: Roast them for 20 minutes and mix them in spaghetti. They go well with a cream sauce and a clove or two of chopped garlic.

Great topic and video. I don't really like my social personality, or persona most of the time. I LIke the way I think about abstract ideas, but this is a world unto myself, largely, but I like that I can enjoy it Alone, but I can say I like Any social interactions, it's kinda sad. It's a weird dichotomy.
