Subaru BRZ tS Phillip Island Hot Lap
มุมมอง 72วันที่ผ่านมา
Back in 2019, I convinced Subaru to let me run a BRZ tS long-termer as a club-level motorsport car. I took it in motorkhana, autocross, skidpan and to the track. I maybe drove it a bit harder than Subaru was expecting but man was it fun. I was driving a lot at this stage and felt pretty confident. You might think a BRZ would feel overawed on a big track like Phillip Island but not a bit of it; ...
2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Walkaround
มุมมอง 37314 วันที่ผ่านมา
You've hopefully seen my track comparison video between the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and Z06 (if not check it out!) but here is a bit of a closer detailed look at the E-Ray. It does cost around 30 per cent more than the Stingray, but it's arguably a better value package, with proper supercar looks and performance thanks to its hybrid system. I like this car❤❤❤❤❤❤
Too much talk less Revs
Well it is called a walkaround. You’ll find the track drive elsewhere on the channel
It's a walk-around dude!
Is this an overseas spec??
Nevermind I just seen it was.
Wait why is the z06 pipes in a different position??? 🤨 🤔 🧐 but it says z06 badge on the side.
I just noticed that…. Very odd
The European layout is different....my guess is different emissions standards.
Non-US cars have petrol particulate filters so they’re down a bit on power (40bhp) and a bit quieter
@ makes sense, thanks for the clarity
Great video, I've booked a track day for next week, so good to get a preview of the track.
Enjoy, it’s good fun and a good challenge
2.5 zero to sixty if your going to do video get it right
I did get it right. The claim is 2.9sec 0-100 no rollout
I really enjoyed this. More guides please!
Ok then! Stay tuned…
How easy is it to tune suspension? Are the roll bars cockpit adjustable for example? Be cool to see you do a test and tune track day and evolve the shock and bar set ups through the day. And how does it impact warranty (boring question, yes)?
Damping is just a few clicks, piece of cake, bars would require some spanners. We are planning a trip to Winton when the blower goes on…everything that hasn’t been touched is still covered by Ford. Though I believe RTR stuff is covered in the US as there’s a very close relationship over there
'Newman wants a long termer. Order spare tyres and brakes' - every OEM PR department. :P #snappyshifts
Yeh maybe a bit hard on the ‘box on this one 😬 but not EVERY long termer…
@@addictedtosliding yes all the autos 😄
Idk about cool, but it’s something.
😂😂😂

Needed a Hemi 🎉🎉
Would’ve been perfect
You need a proper microphone mate. It was hard to hear what you were saying. Anyway I attended this show too and yes, it was absolutely mental. I've been to every show since Highball 07 and this was the busiest of the lot.
You may not know but they are mostly despised in the USA as underpowered not V8. Odd that Chrysler did not put at least a little V8 in them. I thought they were quite cool. Chip Foose did a V8 conversion with some other upgrades. 😊
Great information thank you. I knew they weren’t particularly well thought of due to the V6/auto combo but any production car this outlandish is worthy of at least a little respect! It’s given me an idea for a longer video…
@@addictedtosliding 👍
the only thing is, i have never ever seen a high country or a denali or any tahoe or yukon on the road and thought "wow thats a super nice suv" lol i just think theyre super overpriced for what they are.
W1 all day
W1 faz mais curvas, por causa do peso. O V6 da Ferrari é mais leve, mas tem 4 motores elétricos a mais.
W for the Mclaren and it looks better in that spec
Yeh the orange launch colours did it no favours
@@addictedtosliding agreed, but give it some time it would grow on people
@@addictedtosliding Ye it was too old for taste
pretty sure Ferrari made that "5.75" after W1's reveal lol
It is suspiciously accurate, isn’t it? 😂
The upcoming Zora will take the best of both of these vetts and can’t wait for its debut.
The Zora will be something truly spectacular. The ZR1 is already ludicrous enough!
Were these in US Spec? Because if not you sold yourself short
These were in Australian spec because I’m in Australia, but there isn’t much difference
@addictedtosliding Lower HP and they weigh more than their US Counterpart how is that not a difference everyone that has driven both noticed a decrease in performance
McLaren because its lighter
Fair enough!
Ferrari❤
Hard to argue
Can't wait to see these Yukon Denali's on the road here in New Zealand!
Won’t be long now!
Does the Eray feels like a FWD car while turning or accelerating?
Not at all. There’s no corruption of the steering at all, it’s very well tuned
The prices in Australia are crazy high! How much is the importing tax, 2x the original price?
Not quite. Our cars are high spec, about US$125,000 for an E-Ray. Convert to AUD is x1.5, then shipped here and then we have 33 per cent luxury car tax. US$125K*1.5*1.33=AUD$250K
14:20 That's our V70 V8! And haha, no, the V70 did not come with a V8 from the factory. This was our Covid lockdown project where we merged the blue V70 (had a dead transmission) with a lightly crash damaged S80 V8 that was written off. We have a few videos on our channel from when we did the swap if you're interested. And yes, we did badge it to look like it came from factory 😋
Fantastic, I’m so glad you found this vid! You had me properly bamboozled! I knew it didn’t and yet here one sat in front of me. Will check them out and if you feel like letting me have a go for a video review you know where to find me😊
why 😂
Because they can, I believe is usually the answer
That battery didn’t last long
It didn’t, but that’s extreme use and it recharges equally quickly. A few corners and it’s ready to go for more laps
@@addictedtosliding i guess it wouldn’t be a good track car. Maybe good lap times….
Or when it's rotting on a driveway and they won't even speak to you. 😢😢😢😢
Oh that’s the worst - LET ME SAVE IT!
@@addictedtosliding yeah I know. It's an E30 318is...
Great video! been really curious about that comparison. I have to note something -the last front-engined Corvette was the 1962 model. They've been front-mid-engined since 1963. The C8 is the first production rear-mid-engine Corvette. It does the others a disservice to call them front-engined - the engine is not over the front axles.
You are of course correct, they are front-mid engined, though it’s more of a “in front of driver” or “behind the driver” distinction
А причем тут Абдулов?
And who is Abdulov?
These are a bargain to buy but not from these dealerships. You need to learn about the r230 and buy smart otherwise this car will drain your wallet. My channel is all about how to buy a daily driver Benz on a budget youtube.com/@CL500MBZ
Tsk tsk tsk..suchs LoneLy one,,,!!!???
$150,000 ?? Wow thats way to much for that! 👎🏻
It is a lot of money that’s for sure!
Whilst I agree with you, Toyota flogs 1000s of 300 series that cost more than $150k. Clearly there's a market for it.
Actually you are saving money…
Yes, not buying a 20-year-old high performance Mercedes is a good way to save money!
You did drive the red Pacer on a feature for Unique cars many years ago, good memory !!
Ah excellent! I thought it must be the same car as I said, there’s no chance two exist in that condition😂wonderful to see it again, very fond memory
Bring it on. Drove one in Canada. Mega car. Beats a 200/300 series
It’ll certainly be an interesting comparo between the two, or perhaps LX500 might be a more apt rival?
I believe the difference in power is not due to measurement. It's due to the different exhaust with particulate filters.
You’re right, that is the bigger factor that I should have mentioned
Me when I see a BMW E31 sitting right in front of me but I'm with empty pockets:
Worst feeling
So, does Australia get the US-spec, full 675 hp Z06 ? Or is it neutered like the Euro version, so as not to properly compete with their cars ?
Our cars have the petrol particular filter, same as Euro cars, which robs around 40hp and they’re not quite as loud.
Man with that being said I would say mine has 100HP more than the spec they get. Dang that sucks! I should disclose that mine has a Titanium and Catless setup. Might even have a cold air intake and 91mm Ported throttle bodies 🤫
I don’t like EV s but I’d take the E- ray because awd is sick
The Z06 should definitely be the track favorite, because that is what it is designed for. It has the advantage on track of being higher revving and lighter than the E-Ray. The E-Ray is a better daily driver (especially in inclement weather) and at the drag strip. It has the advantage of having AWD, more low-down torque and much more torque overall than the Z06.
You’re right, but it’s pleasantly surprising just how good the E-Ray is on track, it’s very impressive
The eray for that awesome sound
It does make a very cool collection of noises!
😂😂 You’re joking, right?!
@@cali2468 oh nah, it sounds good. The mixture of the v8 and the electric motor is cool
Why didn't he include lap times?
Because there was no lap timing at the event, there was a passenger in both cars and the footage you see was the first time I’d ever driven either car. I’d be happy to do lap times as they long as they are representative, but even if the opportunity was there they wouldn’t have been
@@addictedtosliding not sure if you would be able to do it again but if you did that would be great! Still a well done segment though. 👏🏽👏🏽
Z06 is a fantastic track car but is not your daily driver.
I think it could be, though the tyres would be a problem in the wet or cold. Perhaps a set of regular wheels/tyres for street use
Yes the CUP 2R tires do not work when it’s cold or wet. “the tires should not be used, stored, moved, or shipped at temperatures below -10°C (14°F). Lower temperatures can cause the rubber to crack, which is not covered by Michelin's warranty.” They also have limited range (5-10K miles)… the Sport 4S or the All Season are much better for daily driving. The Z06 engine (no AFM and high reving) is also excessively loud for passengers and even drivers on long(er) trips. Note that carbon wheels require specialized tools/dealers to swap tires. Most tire shops can’t do it… But, still Z06 is an awesome track car! No questions asked and hands down!
I bet your laptime would be lower if you don't use the paddle shifters. I just keep mine in track mode and automatic, and it's a beast on the track
Perhaps so, but it’s fun to use the paddles and make your own choices!
Eray any time..
agreed and the sad thing is I have no doubt GM de-tunned it to not go much faster then the z06. You can get the CF rims on the e-ray but not the cup2s and those help.
It’s a great package, it surprised me. Reckon it’ll be awesome on road
e-ray pulling mid 2's just like the z06 to 60?? z06 and gt3rs trade wins on different tracks .
GM state is 2.5 for E-ray, 2.6 for Z06 .. but on real roads z06 aint going to get near that. Watch the Haggerty video from a year ago.. they talked about how it took many attempts to get a 2.6
We did a run using the onboard computer and it displayed 2.4sec 0-100km/h (60mph is 97km/h)
Not the EV. Sick of EV's.
Hybrid, not EV, though the name is somewhat confusing
@darksideblues135 Not an EV. the electric motor powers the front wheels only and is only for performance. The 6.2L naturally aspirated motor powers the rear wheels.
I was excited about the review until you defaulted with "it is like a 458 on steroids". Sir, you lack originality. Just another rehash of what other journalists have been told to say.
If other journalists have made that comparison - and presumably they have because you’ve made this comment - it’s because it’s an apt comparison. In terms of speed, noise and feel the Z06 feels very like a 458. And that’s high praise.
