Fender Rhodes Gold Piano Bass and Gold Jim Morrison Microphone
Here is the rare Fender Rhodes Gold Piano Bass, this was made in 1965 and is in great shape. The other one I had had too much work for me to consider it original, but this is the real deal as seen used my the master, Ray Manzarek back in the day. They are rare rare rare.

After tinkering around with the organ and bass, I decided to do this. I still need to tune the bass piano. My goal is to get better with my tempo when not using a backing track. Obviously my little crappy camera was not designed to record such a high pitched sound..it really distorts it. Oh well...its still fun!

This isn't a song,... just a little warm up I play to get my figers going.. I had just cleaned some contacts and wanted to see if she sounded ok. The piano bass is getting a cleaning treament as well The wood keys are feelin' good.

This is not JIm's exact one,but is the same kind that he used frequently in 1968. The silver ones are easy to find,but the gold ones are fairly rare...I've only ever heard of 2 others. I'm going to frame this with a photo of Jim using his.

This is a slighly condensed WTMO intro played on the Gibson Organ and Fender Rhodes Piano Bass. I've been practicing this for the last 2 days and just wanted to post a progress... Putting both hands together is a challenge,but I am getting better every attempt.

Last time I do a video with a cold. I was really off in some spots, but I'm a beginner. IT was still alot of fun playing this on my Gibson G101 and Fender Rhodes piano bass

Hi, Yes this continental is Italian and near mint. The one in my other videos is a wood key American version.
Now that I think about it, I don't have videos of my Italian continental. I may do one showing it with my Acoustic 260/261 amp.

Hi Drake. Thank you very much. I will try to post the whole song. I do have a video of the whole thing,but I usually post directly from my camera and when I try to post it, it says the file is too large. I need to finally get some video editing software so I don't have this problem.

@JonasVanRetro I'm cheap so I wait for good deals. I got the microphone for $40 and the piano bass was $500 or so, again, I was patient, bought it from someone that just sold anything he found....he didn't really know what it was.

The Doors are one of the greatest bands ever but let's not forget the Beatles' performance of "I'm Down" at Shea stadium. John had a nice continental (didn't really know how to play it) but still sounded excellent.
The mike is pretty awesome! It actually kinda looks like a lightsaber, so it panders to my inner Doors and Star Wars fans!

Look at the video, Ray loves to lift his hands about three feet high. Timing is built into us. You ever dribble a ball in time to something- it's like you automatically know exactly how hard to bounce it so it will come back to your hand on beat. Your playing is groovin as far as I can hear it. Imagine, that organ is three years older since you posted this. what an awesome color for an organ. I just got a Farfisa Fast 4 cheap and I just removed all the keys to buff them back to life. Easy2do.

NICE!! The bass is easy to tune. I used to use a guitar tuner & line the arrows up parrelel to the tuning spring in the Rhodes. That way I'd know which way to move the spring to tune it. P.S. When it is tuned Play "Light My Fire" P.P.S. I used a Boss OC-2 Octaver on mine to get that "album" bass sound from the key bass..
I'm picturing a clock on the wall with the second hand moving while John Densmore struggles to bust through a plexiglass window so he can play. What a perfect band! Hey, good playing. I know these youtube videos might not warrant such a thing, but someone should record their Vox through an amp with a nice condenser mic so people can really hear a good Vox organ sound.... besides putting on an actual Doors record.
