WHAT GROW ZONE AND CLIMATE ARE YOU IN??? THIS MATTERS A WHOLE LOT. ARIZONA DESSERT OR TROPICAL RAINFOREST FORT LAUDERDALE, CONDITIONS MATTER PEOPLE. THANKS
I've learned this the hard way But not I wonder why the new growth is curling? Very light green ? I could use some help
The new growth is light green as it gets older gets darker
Podocarpus do not like wet feet so make sure soil is well draining
Dont worry i aint planting those mind controlling podocarpus like what happen in "the last of us" , no sir.
I planted a podocarpus "tree" sapling from Home Depot in my yard about 6 months ago and I think I was over watering it because in the last 6 weeks or so some of its leaves have been browning. It's grown but only about three inches vertically. More horizontally. I put plant food in the hole before I set it in permanently. I cut back the amount of water but I haven't been watering daily. I may give it about 1/2 gal a day and watch it's condition.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Is this the experience in zone 7b as well? Or does this apply to every zone do you think?
well you can now make a bow and arrow set
Will it help if put the plants in the pallets?

Thank you very much . I live in Arkansas so i regularly check everything . But sometimes i assume after 6months things will have rooted enough that i can relax . I plan on getting some Podocarpus Roman Candle when i can find them available. I have this saved for reference and so glad you specially point this out . Any more information you have i will watch.
Mine are dying off one then the next, then the next right in a line, lost 4 now. They are all 5' or more and have been in for over 5 years. They turn brown over a few weeks and never recover.
I learned this the hard and expensive way, never again.
Good info. Alot of people don't realize and are sometimes not told at nurseries that the root is still in root ball formation for up to the first year usually. You need to water the root ball area to keep it moist while the roots grow outwards and stabilize the plant. Till the plant gets settled in and stable. Thanks for the video.
I didnt see any behind you that you kept referring to.
Thank you
Looks like a carpet. Gorgeous!!
Thank you for that, what about dieback branches, we are in Daytona Beach, and plenty of water for sure, any reason for dieback branches?
Fun fact: You can throw the leaves like ninga stars th-cam.com/video/0WinHiWXUCI/w-d-xo.html
Thanks 106 here.i dedi carte to water every day for 3 days then oh I forget to water, so they w die on me.
Just planted about 35 15 gallon podocarpus. Some are slanting and not straight. Is there a way to straighten them
I am in zone 11 and it is essential to water daily when it is our dry season. I learned that the hard way! Once established, these plants are very easy to maintain.
Thank you for sharing this Sir it helps, keep going and Take Care Always 💕❤️💕
My neighbor overwaters, I plant podocarpus along his property line, I win.
I have the 5 gallon size, how far apart planting them please?
Watering Everyday for one year!!! That is a lot, I am not sure what zone he is talking about!
Is this the dwarf Italian cypress the one that's grows up to 12 feet only..I live in the city in a corner lot and looking for something to block my 2 story neighbiors house..don't want anything with aggressive roots. I also need some shurbs or small pines for the fence that faces the street. My yard sits high so people can see inside my yard..I like the hedges but I don't think we will be maintaining it to cut it like a wall all the time.
Love this
Thanks for the heads up man! So many idiots with useless comments. He's just trying to help us, people!
Landscaper planted 6 3ft high at my frontyard and placed carabao grass on the showing soil.isbthat ok? Wudnt it hamper the growth ?
I live in south florida and I have podocarpus macs and pringles as well as petite ixora can I use a 10-10-10?
Are these shrubs really a toxicity issue around pets/children or not? I’m getting mixed information on them.
How long do I water th we m every y Day
I think he said for a year. I just bought 5 15 gallon podocarpus plans and my local nursery says to water them 3 days a week during the first summer. Then 2 days a week in the winter until the end of the 2nd summer. After that you can water once a week. I hope this helps
Thanks for video. After 5 years nice glossy 9 ft tall, but middle somehow bare.
10% of 1000 is 100, but anyway thanks for the great info, you're absolutely correct about the plants watering needs
Well, he is not a mathematician. I bet he know what a woman is, unlike the new supreme justice.😂
He said he planted 10 and 1 died, that is 10% as he mentioned
@@cabezamiami he never said he planted 10 and 1 died, he said 'if' you plant 10 and 1 dies it's about 10% of them dying, later on he goes to also state that if you plant 1000 and 500 of them die which is what my original comment was addressing
@@rifleman542 if you water them as you are supposed to 10% die. If you don't water at all more than 10% die. Make sense?
I water podocarpus everyday but they turn brown and crisp. so i bought new one I water everyday for 4 days only and after that one time a week, hope they make it.
Is it ok to use stones on a newly planted 3 gallon Podocarpus?
What kind of fertilizer did you use and when did you apply it? I just installed zoysia last year.
That was wicked Greg
My lawn th-cam.com/video/sqAtA1eJ3cE/w-d-xo.html
How did u do it
hi i need help my podo turning brown
what is a good soil for podocarpus planting..?
I'd say it really doesn't matter, but if you are going to use something use something to help retain moisture
oh so, well thank you very much dude.. 🙏
I like my Heinz 57 variety lawn . Fertilizer and some insecticide once a year and water only during severe drought . Nice ! Cheap !
Marktuyet I’m sure it looks cheap

whats the most dark green, resistant grass for warm zones?
TaureanKing Bermuda, but it struggles in the shade.
Little & often , a good mantra. Thanks Greg!

I'm about to have empire installed in my yard. I read different opinions on mower type, ie: reel and rotary. Issue for me is, no one in my area really supports power reel mowers, nor am I sure someone can sharpen the blades. Is a rotary mower ok?
It really depends on what you height you want to mow the lawn at whether you need a reel or rotary mower. We have great results mowing Empire between 1.5"-2" with a rotary mower. Anything lower than that would be an issue for a rotary mower. If you go shorter than that you for sure are going to have to cut the grass twice a week in the summer. We are religious about running sharp blades on our machines so that keeps the quality high. I had a golf course superintendent do a consult for us last year on an Empire property and he said the rotary was cutting it fine. I wouldn't personally go through the hassle of a reel mower.
thank you. I have a commercial Hustler mower, but I plan on selling it since the most of the yard will be landscaped and has a 40x30 pool with tons of travertine. So, a push mower cutting at 1.5" is what I am after,
thank you for taking the time to reply. I will give the rostary a whirl at 1.5"
Greg The Flower Guy thats a very nice looking lawn.
@@TheFlowerGuys how often do you change the blades? I just installed empire zoysia and want to keep it in good condition. how often fertilise?
