We love the challenge of bringing a drab gardens and lawns to life. Today’s busy lifestyles make little tasks runaway and turn into a weekend job. Lawns and gardens become overwhelming. That is where Tara and I do our magic.
How to Dethatch lawn using EGO mower
How to dethatch lawn using EGO mower. To do a hard dethatch and scarification of the Tiff Tuff couch.
Today we are using the select cut XP with a raker blade ( Google dethatch blade 20" $55) and a modified SP 2020 to do a 15mm cut.
The raker blade does just as good of a job as a dethatch machine but it doesn't cut the rhizomes into smaller sections
If you have a cylinder mower or a Honda you can mow down to 2mm.
This was a 100m2 area.
I have fertilised with
-Earthlife Soil Mate 10kg
-qld organics Eco 88s 10kg
Then watered in using
-micro start liquid microbe mix 100ml
-micro start fungi mix 40ml
-vicchem Soak n Wet 25ml
-Earthlife Breakdown 200ml
- Propyzimide 15ml
G’day,
Thank you for watching my channel at 1 Green Thumb Gardening
My name is Scott, along with my wife Tara we run a small gardening/landscaping business in Toowoomba QLD.
We promote our business as full property maintenance service that aims to reduce maintenance, and future costs for our clients.
We use EGO battery equipment and charge with our solar where possible,
We are passionate about fixing soil structures to have healthy lawns and gardens, we use organic fertilisers and pre emergent seed control to reduce the use of chemicals
Did you know that through the process of building better soil structures and healthy plants your garden can pull carbon through your plants and into the soil to help fight climate change.

How to tell the difference between onion weed and flowering bulbs
มุมมอง 101หลายเดือนก่อน
Onion Weeds form in summer and autumn and seeds are spread by wind, in soil and in water. Small bulbs develop from the main bulb and can produce new plants after the main bulb dies, making control difficult but not impossible. Flowering indicates the Onion Weed bulbs are dividing and generating new plants. To get rid of Onion weeds you must dig a large area around the main bulb and throw in the...

Would be nice if you could get a micro chain for these pole saw as the stock chain sucks And a lot of the reason that chain comes off is the single bolt that holds the bar on so even when tight the bar still flexes
Thanks mate really appreciate it. Looks like chainsaw is no slouch...
Thanks for sharing. How is it going after a year? Also, how often do you change the battery? Thanks.
@@CalmDelights Hi. I have had many on my place and customers that are well over 4 years old. I change the batteries every year in August mine and customers. This is because I have had customers lawns and gardens suffer from not checking regularly and battery has gone flat at some point As they are something I don't check regularly I can't give an exact time frame. The batteries definitely last a lot longer being a 9v then the AA' in other brands. My Holman WX1 wifi I charge every 3 months with energizer lithium. The Holman digital is By far one of the simplest and best timers. (In my experience)
@@1greenthumbgardeningtwba Thank you very much for your prompt reply. That's good to hear! I saw yours work on hanging baskets as well. Is this from one Timer? ie. zone 1 for lawn, zone 2 for hanging baskets? Is that how it works? Sorry I have so many questions. I've never used one before. :)
Loved your video. I forgot to close my tailgate and my ego pole trimmer and multihead both fell out (not attached to each other). The pole trimmer now doesn’t want to move, there is a small click noise like it tries. Thoughts on what I should look for in a tear down?
Hey. My first thought would be that a tooth is bent and jammed. If you disconnect the trimmer from the power head and see if you can spin the shaft back and forth. If it goes backwards a bit and jams, you should be able to see the bent tooth. If so they do not bend back easily and I generally get a pair of pliers and snap the tooth off. Or if you can wait to get home you can try to straighten. Other wise if it fell on the shaft it may have pushed the shaft into the first gear housing in which unscrew the aluminium pole and pull apart with the shaft and put back in. Should go Thirdly may bethe gear housing bearing may have popped out of place.
Any luck mate.?
Hi Scott, great video once again, good info. For the far end of the hedge have you ever tried a circular wood cutting blade for cutting back wobbly wood thats too big for the hedger. Its my go to for situations like that. you can scythe very fast through stuff like that and it can easily do up to 30mm. Also would really appreciate a real time portion within the video as its hard to do much evaluating of the tool performance and efficiency without it. Cheers mate love your work
Ego Pole chainsaw to cut back overgrown hedge in real time th-cam.com/video/pfFjrG-YggI/w-d-xo.html
Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully this video shows the time it took to do this section. I have tried a circular saw blade on the brush cutter which is great, but I wouldn't use it on this type of work as I feel it would be too dangerous, in case it bounces of a branch.
Thanks mate fair enough. I don't think the blade poses any risk during a kick back as it's so far away from the body, however i guess it could be a risk of falling off the ladder.
Hi mate love your videos. Just wondering how long the head would last with that sort of punishment? have you broken any gearboxes? Love that you left this on actual speed as that really helps to evaluate the tool performance for someone who is considering getting ego.
Legend - been scouring the web for the right tool, turns out it's a lil elbow grease.
4 decibels difference is actually quiet something. A few decibels difference, do make a difference.
Probably smarter to go buy a Garden Fork from the Hardware store...
Only if you want your lawn to look like the moon - full of creators. Don't knock it until you try it. Thanks
Would it be good to use with the chainsaw?
Yeah, but show how do you do it when you're 50 feet up in the air.
Definitely doesn't look like it should work! Fantastic idea, tho' ! How small can the strips be? Have you tried it with only 2 or 3 cm?
Hey. Once you get below 10cm they are not very straight. Can't say I have tried that small.
@@1greenthumbgardeningtwba 👍Thanks!
Is that the 1400? Do you think the 1420 is a better option if you are going to buy and don’t have the 1400?
@@wakawaka1976 hi. If you don't have a power head yet I would buy the 1420. It has a higher speed, better water proofing and I believe more power. If I could I would upgrade, but I have 3 of the PH1400, just waiting for one to die.

I have an underground parking garage to clean up. I wonder if I lightly wet the surface before power sweeping it would minimize the dust…. Too much dust would set off the alarms so I’m looking at options.

Hi, Yes the bristle brush is great for scrubbing, the only problem I see is it will spray the dirty water on the walls which you can rinse off. The bristle brush saves a lot of hard work
Also you can buy wheel attachment that saves a lot of the weight. Google wheel attachment for weed eater.
Why are you trimming her edge?! Isn’t it her responsibility to trim her own bushes from all sides?
Hi, it is not the hedge owners responsibility to hedge anything hanging over their neighbours side, By me doing it into their property the waste becomes their responsibility and not my customers This doesn’t apply to all situations Thanks Scotty
How about you drive a nail with a screw driver and a screw with a hammer? Your doing the same damn thing, using the wrong tool for the job.

I am considering this tool, as there are few cordless battery tools with that reach. I already have the Husqvarna 520i Ht4, which i like in terms of its weight, reach and adjustability, but it just isnt durable for professional use. The EGO unit seems robust, has good reach, adjustability seems a similar mechanism to the Husky ( requires two hands). It would definitely be an advantage having the cutting head as removable and therefore replaceable, as the cutting head failing has been the big failung in my husky. Do you have any thoughts on using the EGO in the rain? I accept its a heavy tool, but i will use a petrol Stihl for cutting efficiency and use tge telescopic husky just for extra reach, so the weight is not a big problem for me if it is well balanced.

Hi, can I pour propiconazole around the base of a frangipani ? Will it help kill the rust
Hi. I have used it as a soil drench, rust has been one of my biggest challenges. I have reduced the effects of rust but not eliminated. For example a soil drench on this frangipani you can use a watering can and mix 15ml of propiconazole to 9l of water then water in with 150l of water roughly 6 minutes of watering from the tap. NSW, Qld. Vic, SA, WA only 30 mL/100 m² in 150 L water Apply as a soil drench and water in immediately, ensuring thorough mixing with the soil. Spray in January to March, after renovation and recovery of active growth. Make a second application one month later where infection is severe. 4farmers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Propiconazole-500-EC-leaflet.pdf

No electrical tools. No worn blades. No noise. Very little danger. I should have thought of it. But didn't, and that is a worry.
