日本に到着した９８年ごろ、俺が親から貰った初めてのゲーム機とゲームソフトがこれだった、親父はエジプト好きで、本当は自分がこのゲームをやりたくて俺への家でお留守番の褒美と同時にPS1を買ったのだと思う、そして外人の自分はもちろん日本語の言葉など一言も喋れなかった。 このゲームも何を言っているのかわからないまま、２年くらい掛けて徐々に進んで、最後の秘密は紙と図を描いて何度も何度もメモを取りながら奇跡的に全クリアしたが、今でも内容はよくわからないままだったのでエミュレーターでもう一度プレイしてみようと思う。 印象深い作品だが、今見るとなかなか凄いゲームだよ、３６０度カメラで撮影していたんだな、教育としても良いゲームだ。 今ではグーグルマップやＶＲで色々と３６０度で観られるけど、これが２７年前にこのゲームで実現されていたと思うとなかなか凄いよ。

Lmfao I remember a fuzzy memory from when I was around 5 or so of my cousin playing this game. For the longest time I was trying to remember if it was on the PS1 or PS2. Tonight I was looking up PlayStation 1 console images, and for some reason this time it actually clicked. I’m thinking it was definitely the PSX. I looked up “PS1 Jet game” and found it 😂😂😂

This is an excellent addition on my modded PSclassic mini. It is a little buggy in some areas (certain items in shops aren't available, some crashes) but using save states it's not that bad at all.

Wow... Diablo has no problem filling the screen and using transparency on overlays... This is as bad as those Sega CD Games that were cropped in the middle of the damned screen
To be fair, the PC version is similarly "cropped" for the UI. It is for gameplay rather than performance (though I'm sure it did help performance in this unoptimized, unfinished PS1 version). Gameplay wise, it is an infinitely more complex game than Diablo, so having the UI is absolutely necessary. You need to be able to select individual characters and give orders for different spells and skills constantly in combat. Many encounters require playing as a turn based game, pausing every second or so to change party members' positioning, targets, items and weapons.
Probably too much content to fit on one cd, too much data to work on the console, and optimizing a port probably was too much trouble at thus point and with ps2 released, so I can see why they didn't finish or release it in this state

Oh my god they re-recorded the word Faerun for this port to fix the pronunciation... but just spliced it into the existing audio.

Wow, thats amazing that Baldurs gate was actually on playstation. I imagine it would be horrible to play with a controller as opposed to a mouse however
Ps1 has a Sony official mouse peripheral.
I know this is a year old comment but Pillars of Eternity on the PS4 plays really well. I don't think they would've been able to figure out this kind of controls back then though.

Every single aRPG from Diablo 2 to Grim Dawn I will ALWAYS play on the couch, relaxed, on a giant TV, and with a CONTROLLER in hand. I never found the need to be hunched over a desk in some office chair clicking my mouse and use digital controls for primary movement, especially now when movement isn’t restricted to 4 and/or 8 directional movement via up/down/left/right and WASD. All I can picture is that guy from South Park’s “Make Love Not Warcraft” episode that “has no life”.
