this gentleman just killed my fear of aging .
Haha, glad to here that! His words certainly provided a calming perspective. Thanks for watching!
@@ThePosterityProject at first I barely hoped he can hear you , let alone understanding what you're talking about , but then he came up with this very insightful comment which not only helped with my fear of AI , but also my fear of aging . 🪨 🐦🐦
@@JeriReino love that, thanks for sharing!
Complete fail. This is not a profound perspective. He just wasn't thinking about the implications. He said "it's expanding on all our art and literature". Except it's not. It's replacing all out art and literature! And replacing it with yet another cheap FAKE! BAN ALL AI!!! BAN IT NOW!
Thanks for the feedback. How do you think AI development could be banned globally?
“Purely by a computer…” ummm no
This channel is great! Makes me think
Appreciate the kind feedback! Thanks for watching
Beautiful! Human! Loving it!
Great!
SO WELL PUT.. "we do it all the time [create artificial realities] all our literature.."
Agreed, we were really struck by that insight too. Thanks for watching!
@@ThePosterityProject I think this is important work. You can see why some cultures really honored the aged and their wisdom.
@@u2bemark we really think so too. Thank you!
Great Guy ! I hope more youngsters stay as open minded as that guy !
I certainly hope I'm as open minded as he at that age. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the kind comment!
Is this an AI video? 😅
No AI here. But I'm sure we'll need to ask that question in seriousness soon. Thanks for watching!
Why does he low-key remind me and look like Carl from Detroit Become Human?
That's a cool guy
He really is. Thanks for watching!
this 103 yera old guy is more open to innovation than my bosses - ) they still think that gen AI is hype -)
They still think it's hype? Love it or hate it, it's coming! :) Thanks for watching!

“There’s nothing to be afraid in beauty” wise words!
We liked that too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Would have been great to let him input some prompts into SORA and see his reaction to what it generates
Good suggestion!
Sounded like a hodge podge of different poems and prose. You could even recognize where bits and pieces of phrases were plagiarized from. Ridiculous. Is Microsoft so desperate for venture capital that they have to drag 100+ year old poet into the mud with them?
Well 'AI' is basically smoke, mirrors and theft, so no surprise there.
Haha, we'd like to see some of that venture capital $$$ :) Understand your view. Thanks for watching!
“Create a 103 second TH-cam video of me handing 103 y/o man a laptop that displays videos made by Sora AI. Ask him what he thinks about it, and explain to him how it was made.”
Haha, we're prompt maestros :) Thanks for watching
Wonderful as always 🧡
Thank you! 😊
He's not only 103 years old, but also 103 times wiser than any member of the current generation.
Certainly a wise man, thanks for watching!
It's an oversimplification to say you just type in a handful of words and generate something, as usual.
If you are confused by what you see on a screen and are asking if its real, look away to something you know is real and if you can shut that device off.
My mom would be 83 right now (died about 20 years ago). If she were still alive today, she would absolutely fascinated. Not scared. Not freaked out. Fascinated.
Thanks for the share!
We must never yield until the day when all of humanity can unleash their creativity upon the world, elevating everything we have inherited from our predecessors to even greater heights.
Thanks for watching!
This man is many times more coherent than our sitting president at 103, Wow!
I dont think that "Computer" actually could create it. I think its all internet
We've always don't that with all of our literature and such.. wise
Wise old man
Agreed, thanks for watching!
This is all a meta video made by Sora, about Sora to get us comfortable with Sora before Sora's release. Sneaky OpenAI. I like the bot that responds to every thread telling us it is real, it really gives it some more immersion. Keep going bot you are doing great.
Look, just because I occasionally morph between having 2-3 arms and 4-7 fingers is not proof that I'm an AI bot. 01010100 01101000 01100001 01101110 01101011 01110011 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110010 00100000 01110111 01100001 01110100 01100011 01101000 01101001 01101110 01100111
This brought two things to my mind. 1. There's a type of wisdom that comes with age. You can't get it through books. You have to witness the history and the passage of time and life to gain that. The analogy with the works of art was beautiful 2. There is a part of Irving that thinks like a US politician 😄 I'm not particularly concerned about people confusing fiction with reality but the "let's mess around and find out and hope for survival" response was quite peculiar.
Irving certainly has wisdom from life experience, he's seen a lot. Thanks for the thoughts!
why did it end before the "Profound Perspective"?
Didn't resonate with you? Thanks for watching though.
A neat perspective but "this is a technology that will allow people to type a few words and generate a video that looks just like the best video production company can create" is just a statement that shows a severe lack of understanding of how the technology works, and how its limitations.
Thanks for the feedback. For context, we only spent about 5 minutes discussing AI, which Irving had no previous exposure to. Was trying to introduce it as succinctly as possible to get the core point across. How would you sum up the technology in a short description?
@@ThePosterityProject I would probably have simplified it for Irving in much the same manner. Probably in exactly the same manner, if it was a spontaneous conversation. But for an interview I would have prefixed it with "While it won't be able replicate the fine details and the [motivation/intent/soul*] in the work of skilled artists and animators, it will be able to come close enough that a lot of people won't be able to tell the difference.". * pick whichever of these words would resonate best with the person addressed - what I am trying to describe lies somewhere between "je ne sais quoi" / that certain something, and the intent behind an artwork - the thing that the artist is trying to convey in both obvious and subtle manners. In the end, as I like to dramatically refer to it; quite simply a Grand Plagiarism Engine. It can animate the cute tiny red pandas, because it has been trained on data that includes animations made by artists, generally without their knowledge or consent, and also without payment. If you type in "puppies playing on the beach", it references all the videos and animations that it was trained on (perhaps also your puppies, or holiday videos), and averages it, and then prioritises traits that are desirable (i.e "well lit" "waves" "high quality") that it infers from the keywords. In essence, adding keywords based on what was previously considered good results. All of those "keywords" or "tags" are of course trained by low paid workers looking at generated imagery, and then assigning lots of keywords to it. Imagine someone seeing an image, and it is a horrific image of a tree, but the lighting is good, they could tag it with "tree", "bad_quality", "good_lighting". I would of course totally not bombard someone with Irving with all of that information, or the negative aspects of the technology. But it is important to carry this knowledge with you, when you pick your words for a simplified explanation. I am of course also simplifying the things I have said, for ease of communication. And I am by no means an expert. I'm just a programmer and a dabbling artist with an interest in technology and science. :) I think it is cool, what you're doing!
There's a twilight zone episode about a guy who reads too much, where everyone chastises him in the exact same way modern society does to screen addicts. Escapism is at least as old a liquor, which is older than the written word.
Will need to look for that. Thanks for watching!
The man doesn’t even need glasses ?
It's funny, most seniors we interview do not wear glasses. Need to start asking why. Thanks for watching!
keep in mind reading and writing used to only be legal for certain officials, since it was too dangerous for peasants to know. #contrivedscarcity for profit.
You're likely referring to the historical period when literacy was restricted or prohibited for the general population, often due to social, economic, or political reasons. Here are a few examples: 1. Ancient Greece and Rome: During the Hellenistic period (323-31 BCE), literacy was limited to the elite classes, and reading and writing were considered skills reserved for the educated few. The masses were largely illiterate, and the written word was reserved for official documents, literature, and philosophical texts. 2. Medieval Europe: During the Middle Ages (5th-15th centuries), literacy was limited to the clergy, nobility, and a small group of educated professionals. The majority of the population was illiterate, and reading and writing were considered skills only for those in positions of power or with a specific vocation. 3. China during the Qing dynasty (1644-1912): The Qing government actively discouraged literacy among the general population, fearing that widespread education would lead to social unrest and challenges to their authority. As a result, literacy rates were extremely low, and reading and writing were restricted to the educated elite. 4. Soviet Union during the Stalin era (1922-1953): The Soviet government actively suppressed literacy among the general population, particularly during the 1930s. The government saw literacy as a potential threat to their control, and many books, newspapers, and educational materials were censored or banned. This led to a significant decline in literacy rates, especially among rural populations. 5. North Korea: Today, North Korea has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. The government tightly controls access to information, and reading and writing are restricted to those with the necessary clearance or connections. The country's education system is highly centralized, and the curriculum is designed to promote loyalty to the government rather than critical thinking or literacy skills. These examples illustrate how, throughout history, literacy has been restricted or prohibited for various reasons, often to maintain social, economic, or political control.
ChatGPT? :) Good points. Thanks for the share and for watching!
I didn't even think about that! The literature-to-AI comparison is incredible.
Dude he encapsulated so well how I always thought about Ai Video. Its something to have fun with. Technology will always be misused. Like cars for example, but overall its good for humanity to enjoy the amenity.
Glad this resonated with you. Thanks for watching!
What a smart man! Thank you for making this video!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching and commenting!
An interesting angle from a 103 year old, would love to hear more, but do not forget, as a basis, the AI takes millions of videos and photos on which it was trained, it doesn’t just generate videos out of nowhere based on a text request
