Wirral Snippets
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ธ.ค. 2020
This channel will feature short videos of places throughout the Wirral Peninsula - and beyond. It is mostly for my own personal enjoyment and a record of my rambles out and about. However, everyone is welcome to look at them and I hope you enjoy them. I intend uploading frequently - at least weekly. I love the Wirral and think it is a great, although overlooked, part of the UK.
I used to upload videos for my American email friend, Helen, to amuse her and show her life my side of the pond. Sadly she passed away in November 2020 but I thought I would carry on uploading mostly for my own pleasure.
My previous channel is under my name: Morris Kenyon.
Have a good day.

Bonfire Night Fireworks Festival. Meadow Crescent, Woodchurch. November 5, 2024. Part 3
Great Bonfire Night Fireworks Festival on the Wooodchurch. There was a huge stack of pallets - 50' high which was set ablaze. It all felt magnificently pagan. There were so many people out; it was real community event. Thank you to whoever organized this event. Sadly my camera is bust and keeps conking out - I will have to buy another for Christmas.

Abandoned Central Hydraulic Tower, Wirral Waters. September 29, 2024.
มุมมอง 923 หลายเดือนก่อน
NB: This video stops too soon as once again my camera conked out so I will have to buy a new one. The Central Hydraulic Tower was built in 1863 and used steam to power the lifting of the bridges and docks in Birkenhead docks. The design of the building was based on the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. After the damage left by the blitz in WW2, features such as a large lantern on top of the tower we...

Roman Gardens, Pepper Street. Chester Walls. May 1, 2024.
มุมมอง 507 หลายเดือนก่อน
On a visit to Chester May 1st, 2024, I looked at the Roman Gardens just outside the city walls. They are a collection of pieces of pillars, mosaics and underfloor heating assembled together from various places in Chester. It is a very pleasant place and makes you think of our ancient history and the people who once walked where we walk now.

Brook Street: Birkenhead's 'red light' area? March 7, 2024.
มุมมอง 13K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
I must lead a sheltered life as I only found out recently that Brook Street is apparently Birkenhead's 'red light area'. However, walking down at lunchtime seemed safe enough but I wouldn't want to walk along here at night. During the day it is an industrial area and is a long, straight road showing how Birkenhead was originally developed. On a personal note, I feel sorry for those women so cau...

Willaston Village Green. March 5, 2024.

Back by popular demand - well one person actually. I'd stopped making these little videos as I really make them for myself and I had got really into drawing and painting (badly but never mind). Anyway a few people have said they like these little snippets. So today I went part of the Wirral Way and ended up going through the lovely and upmarket village of Willaston with its delightful green. I ...

Tadpoles in ditch along Wirral Way near Heswall May 30, 2023.
มุมมอง 50ปีที่แล้ว
I haven't uploaded any videos for a while as I have been focusing on my art. However, on a walk along the Wirral Way today near Heswall I came across a whole bunch of tadpoles in the ditch water by the side of the path. I like frogs so I wish them well and hope most of them make it.
Views from the top of St Bridget's church tower. May 1, 2023.

I've been up the top of St Bridget's church tower several times now but it is always worth the climb. It was the Ashton Park Mayday fair today and as part of that, St Bridget's was open. So I went up the bell tower to be rewarded with spectacular views over towards North Wales. Happy Days!

Loads of comments since my post 2 years ago??
What a dreadful , amateur and usless video .
Never heard of Brook Street as a red light district, Corporation Road was a red light district.
hello,i have a request,on the other side of Duke street bridge directly on the left there is the "ferrymans café" later "bridge café" (red brick with the white round wall )your video shows only a couple seconds from the side of it could you do a video about that pub? i have good memories there from way back in the 1970's and it might not be there for a very long time, your video would possibly be the only video of a piece of Birkenhead history
Used to be terraced housing ,all around there. With Cottage Street, Arrowe Place,Caldy Place. All cleared about 1960.
Bwook street 🤣🤣🤣
Great guy, no apparently about it he was my art therapist for a few years. This guy's an absolute legend.loved your video. Nicely done.
You may not see this comment now with it being a few years ago I thought I’d give a little bit of history the reason market street is called market street in Birkenhead is that area along Hamilton street where you mentioned those modern buildings was in fact where the old Birkenhead market once stood between 1845 and 1974 that triangle building stood along side it. If you look up Birkenhead old market loads comes up with photos to. If you see my comment hope that helps.
I'm 60 and I've lived in Birkenhead all my life (I still do) and I always thought the red light area was Corporation Road.
Me too never known it to be brook street
Is it still? Asking for a friend.
@@michaelglass1911 🤣🤣🤣
Not since they built a police station on it surely
Hi I’m mark I live in Wirral in irby. I’m into history a scenes of Wirral. I’ve subscribed to your channel I’m going to Start watching them all from the start. Keep them coming these videos.
This is my school!
Looks a good school with happy kids at playtime.
i love Liverpool I've explored most areas now
Hand made bricks
Thank you! We were following the planet trail today and thought we were crazy because we couldn't find Neptune. You made our day 😂
Hello
Video is soooooo jerky, difficult to watch
My red water bottle got stolen in Macclesfield 12 March 2024.
From the Mersey to the Dee, Wirral will be prozzie free!
🤣
So said the Yorkshire Ripper 😮
What a KNOBHEAD !!!
Not one hooker insight
Thanks for this. I grew up in Upton and remember the thrill of going there with my dad to choose my books. We would then go to buy some cream cakes from a little delicatessen in the village. Happy days 😊
interesting location how would one get from the boat house down to the boat in the water? im curious about thanks
Was there yesterday, red ribbons still there in the trees , interesting history for sure 🌞
Visited myself recently. Interesting experience. It felt strange but also spiritual to see the remains of a community which had pretty much vanished in a town which felt very local to me. It was also great to see different grave styles that couldn’t be seen in the neighbouring christian cemetery (thoughthey were some styles I found unique to Blackpool there too).
Thanks for watching. I'm not Jewish myself but like you found it a spiritual and peaceful place with all the graves marking a community no longer evident in Blackpool. It made me wonder about their lives.
when i was young i would go to these baths.
Worth a visit again now.
very sensitive commentry - thank you. I will show it to Nigel he will be touched by your appreiation.
Thank you. I really enjoyed the exhibition and Nigel is so talented and his art is inspirational.
Thank you 👍 Always intrigued by the ' Greenland Fishery ' ........it might have something to do with Wilfred Grenfell, born at Parkgate, son of the Headmaster at Mostyn House School there. He became a missionary to the fishermen of Labrador 🤔
Could be? Although Labrador is some way from Greenland. But both are really cold!
It's not 'global warming' it's 'climate change' now.🤡🌍
Thank you 👍 That was great 🌟 Loved my visit 😊
Sorry I missed you at your allotment! Sorry for the late reply as I have been looking after a friend's dog the last few days and not been online recently. Hope you are keeping well.
Ah, that was a good day out. 😀 Looking forward to going to Blackpool again! Went to Turner Exhibition at Tate today, Feb 15, 2023.
Thany you 👍 A universe 😮
A miniature universe within the mosses with tiny little predators and prey.
Thank you for the Snowdrops and the tour 👍
Fabulous architecture, I love that library.
I like that library too, it is a shame that the council are considering closing it. It will be a loss if it does go. How are you keeping? 😀
Such a shame if it closes !! Criminal. I’m ok thanks Ed, hope you are too.
@@systemaddict4032 I will be very annoyed if they close more libraries. I wouldn't like to be responsible for the council's budget but that library has been there nearly 90 years. I'm great, thanks for asking, and glad you are too! What are you up to? I'm busy doing a painting at the moment.
Hi Ed, met you in Moreton cross! Thanks for your vids 👍🏻
Thanks, it was nice to see you, too. I will do some better videos soon (I put the wrong SD card in my camera!) Hope you are keeping well.
Longs hotel's clean with good food and good bar and pool table and snooker table that's the main thing's
The President Hotel, fit for a president or a king or queen.
its a shame as upton fire station reminds me of trumpton fire station
Get the gas cannisters on it😆❤️👍
Nt offering but i think that calls out for a series of murals painting all round it.
Nice to see the green looking better Pity the mens team folded
How fancy do you think st Aidan’s is 😭 you should see inside it’s a dump lmafo
Sorry to hear that; don't know anyone who lives there so never been inside myself but the exterior is so impressive.
Very good bus service to Liverpool

It’s a shame they keep these places locked when they could generate money in tea and coffee rooms
Hello mate. Just found your channel, really enjoying the snippets! Going to take me a while to catch up on them all, but I've subbed! Keep them coming, Will
Thanks - they're very amateurish but I appreciate your comment.
The 1st building is in use still by the scouts. They have a book sale most Saturdays.
Awful camera, out of focus. Blirred images.
Might be best to try that again
