All These Holes!? Fuel Filter Replacment in Skoolie T444E!
Great progress! Can't wait to see you finish this bro.
YOOOOO coming together man! Looks good
hell yeah doood
Watched all your vids Shem from 5 yrs ago , you really accomplished so much and should feel so proud what you’ve done . Nothings more important then your health physical and mental take care of yourself ….. you’ve done GREAT …..And maybe because we are in the midst of a big overhaul of our class A the way you explained everything and just got right to work tearing apart and rebuilding at your young age is truly inspiring.
She’s a keeper …. Hi Allie
You have done a fantastic job the bus looks great , can’t wait to see your camping videos …… you should be so proud of yourself … applause !!!
The amperage spike is normal, you might want to look into a "Soft Start" adapter that will minimize the issue. These days, MOST rv units come with one built in, I used a 12v chest with a secondary, smaller freezer.
I know the door is normal the thing is that it constantly stays at that amperage draw. Whixh is what sucks.
@@ThatGuyShem What sorta space did you leave around/behind the fridge? Most units require 1-2" of space for the hot air to "move", essentially allowing a passive cycling action due to your home's active air currents. I say "home" but it's no different for a skoolie, van or(in my case) a boxtruck. If you've trapped it in tight then the coils have nowhere to release their heat - There might be a relatively easy fix for you if this is the case, a 12v, 80-120mm fan that will force the heat into the rest of your skoolie. Your AC WILL have to compensate for that difference but that's kinda what it has to do regardless ;)
I had that problem with my old RV refrigerator, plus it wouldn't keep things cold once it got over about 110F. My neighbor, who is also off-grid, had gotten an apartment-sized refrigerator, and told me it pulled a LOT less power to run, plus would keep his food cold even above that temp, so I got a similar one that would fit into the space my old RV refrigerator came out of. It works great. Here is the data I got off of my Kilawatt unit: Refrigerator: Highest: 378W, Running:111W Lowest running: 110W, Not running: 0.8W. Someone in the next comment I see below mentions using a 12V fridge, but I've tried those and found the same problem with higher temps. If you can get an extra solar panel or two, and maybe add a battery or so, you might be able to justify running a refrigerator like the one I have. You just have to check to see what Wattage it actually pulls, to make sure it isn't one that is a power hog. The ones made in poorer countries are often easier on Wattage than the big one made in the USA, because so many folks just pay their electric bills without questioning what appliance could make it lower.
Yeah i think thats 100% the route I'm going to go, I think the power bank and solar should be enough overall which ill cover in upcoming videos. currently searching for a fridge that is roughly the same size and seeking power usage details of each one which seems kind of hard to get unless I go test myself at a store or something lol
@@ThatGuyShem Home Depot carries the Vissani brand apartment size refrigerator that is around the same size as an RV fridge. That is the one I would recommend, as both my neighbor and I have found them to be very good on power savings as well as working well in even hotter temperatures.
@@Tumbleweed5150 that's the one ive been looking at! Thinking of getting it in black!
Do a 12v fridge..You wont need to rely on an inverter to use it and they do use less power....
im weighing the options of 12v or a residential right now! price up front for both and so on!
I'm late but ready see da ShemBus
its Never too late!
pog
Go for the residential fridge. It's quick, cheap, and easy to find and replace and it is WAY more efficient than that RV fridge. I have a cheap Walmart mini fridge in my van and it's been working great since 2020. A 7cu ft visani fridge from home depot should fit in the same space. I have a magic chef 10.1 cu ft fridge in my 1972 RV that I am almost finished restoring.
I think thats the plan! A 200-400 buck rrsidential 7-10 cu ft fridge that is roughly the same size of the rv fridge in the bus at the moment. Man does that rv fridge work good tho!
@@ThatGuyShem The Visani that bbol45 mentions is the one I have, and it not only uses a LOT less energy than the RV fridge I replaced, it also works a lot better in hotter weather. I live in the Southern CA desert, and it can get up to around 120F here. Mine has worked very well since I got it.
for the blocked electrical sockets: they make plastic rings because its against code to have more than i think 1/8 inch gape between the box and finished surface, pull the receptacle out, if you have enough wire, you should be able to slip the plastic sleeve through the receptacle, and then get longer screws to screw into the box, or you can screw into the ears at the top and bottom. also, yea, those RV fridges have ventilation to the outside because they get so hot behind. residential fridges get a little warm in the back, but not as bad
Yeah im going to fixe that outlet! Need to take apart the wall from behind the drawers. My main concern for the fridge is the eating it causes without ventilation. And i feel. Id rather go apartment size residential or rv 12v compressor fridge if i find a decently priced one.
@@ThatGuyShem apparently, theres a conversion kit for those fridges that switches them over to 12 volts, but i dont know who makes them and for what models, but i have noticed that even the residential fridges are pretty energy efficient these days
@@masterbond9 i didnt know there was conversion kits! Y3ah i think they roughly run at 4-6A so its worth looking at!
Pretty normal for an RV-Fridge in AC-mode - they have a 400W heating element - which runs a lot, (400w/12V = 33A) those things a not good to run on solar. But run a month or more on propane.
Yeah i see that now after testing it a bit. My main concern still is the head it produces and having to cut ventilation for a fridge. I am thinking of looking at decently.priced 12v compressor fridges or getting a apartment size residential.
@@ThatGuyShem it depends in what kind of climate you want to hang out. If you are somewhere cool just running the fridge on propane is not a bad way to save on batteries and solar. A 12V or residential fridge needs about 1-2kwh / day. To be on the safe side for a couple cloudy days - you need 3 kwH batteries - 300AH. The RV fridge needs 6kwh /day in AC but only 50WH in propane mode.
@@ThatGuyShem The residential fridge I, and another of your Commenters mentioned above works great, and doesn't put out even close to the heat the RV ones do. There is no open flame, either, which one needs to make sure of having ventalation when using an RV fridge.
Looks amazing man. Great work, keep going! 🤠
Thank you! I plan to keep going till it's done!
Could you push the bed to one side and then build a storage shelf/headboard on the other side?
I did think of this but i also want the windows to be available, i may do this but build the storage under the bed a tad maybe!
