We've had the gr yaris same motor here in Australia since 2020 no lemons, no fires all good over here
A lot of parts for this car are on back order it’s rediculius I ordered the air box rubber grommets last year and their back ordered at time still never came in yet
You're not the first haha, prepare for the process to take more than half a year.
Guys the ONLY thing that's going to move the needle with this stuff is collective action. You HAVE to put pressure on these companies to issue recalls OR extend warranties at the very least. We spend so much time crying amongst ourselves and arguing, while these companies implement quiet, rolling changes, leaving all the people with the old shit out to dry. I think this platform will always be fundamentally flawed until Toyota rolls out a generation 2 GR. We saw a similar thing in the ND Miatas. The ND1's had a host of transmission issues that Mazda (largely) corrected in the ND2.
Go buy a fl5. You're welcome.
May ir may not be an option
My German Supra has had no issues.
Good to hear
toyota dealers need better mechanics thire car deserve.
I'm a big Toyota fan, but I think something is happening with their quality right now. Old Camrys that are made in Japan feel more solid than some of the new cars.
How old are Camry and 95s
My 2023 GR Corolla has also been in the shop since mid November. It repeatedly has misfires on cylinder 2 causing the dash to light up. This only happened after I got an oil change and maintenance done on it at the dealership. They replaced the fuel injectors and ports but it still has the issue. I’m thinking about doing the lemon buyback if they can’t figure it out. They have already sent out a Toyota Field Tech since the tech at the dealership couldn’t figure it out. It’s a real bummer.
@@RomanPyromaniac I've never had a misfire (at least that I know of or have noticed), but the injectors being replaced on both of our cars and not fixing an issue that was seen as those being the problem is concerning.

they did absolutely nothing to help with the clutch issue. basically just wear and tear. I'll never own another Toyota after seeing their help. I'm sorry yours is still having problems. I really liked these cars.
@@richardjfarley sorry to hear they didn't help you out at all. Toyota has been pretty good to me, fortunately, but this situation is just unfortunate for my car.
Good luck with all that Cody. I’m having my own fun with Honda right now. If you have questions about lemon law reach out; I unfortunately have had to deal with on a former vehicle
@scotturich thanks, Scott! Hoping that Toyota can get this figured out sooner than later, but I do plan to go with a lemon lawyer in the next week or two if nothing new comes up. Good luck with your stuff as well! Your situation sounds really bad
I remember when dealerships had reputable mechanics. Now they just try to get you in and out as fast as they can, then take your money.
@r6erik I think that a good amount of techs know what they're doing, but they do have a large workload that can take away their focus. Regardless, you're right that the quality has been seemingly declining over the years 🫤
I wasn't going to play that lottery, so I bought the parts and special tools necessary, and did the Honda steering recall work myself on my car, paying out of pocket.
That totally sucks… I want this car so bad I’m thinking of purchasing one this 2025 spring or summer a silver circuit edition with carbon roof and sport hood. Ugghhhh. I guess I’ll start second guessing on a Acura integera type S
I wouldn't necessarily second guess the GRC as these situations are seemingly unfortunate cases for mine. As I mentioned in the video, the majority issue could be dealer induced
Nooo this video wasn't mean to dissuade you from buying oneeee
Obviously all of these aren't made the same lol, or maybe there was a bad batch of cars/parts. It sucks that you're having a terrible experience with yours, so many thoroughly enjoy theirs. Do you think you'll look for a different car after everything gets resolved? CTR seems like the best bet for reliability.
@SethKnows totally agree! I still love the car and would love to have another one or get this one fixed. I have mentioned it in all of my videos that this isn't every GRC as every car has issues of some sort, especially first MY's. I have just unfortunately run into the most issues and openly documented them. I am currently perusing other options for cars, but a 2025 GRC is still on the list as well 🙂 the CTR is never a bad pick either

Right? Can you believe this asshat just beats on it. It's a Toyota, not a racecar. Sage advice, bud. Hope someone will listen.
Autox/track is hard on the car but does not necessarily cause all the issues he's going through (especially on a brand new car). Also, high G's don't cause seats to become loose, vibrations and insufficient fastening torques do.

That along with short throw shifter should pair well. I feel lucky mine has handled the abuse pretty well so far. besides my bumper popping off due to me removing it a few times to do installs, my rear right clunk which is likely my fault as well cuz after market control arms, and lowering springs I installed. Having not gotten like 3 CELs in like a few months and then it just never happening again since. my car has been pretty solid. ohh and the paint is shit if you dont PPF front end is done for.

Got the pick of the litter I guess...
just got my transmission replaced under warranty - I had the '2nd gear pop-out' issue.. the way you're describing the new clutch behavior is EXACTLY what I've noticed. It feels like a different car, it feels like my old Evos did. It PULLS. It was assembled in nov 22 purchased jan 23, and started popping out of gear in the spring of this year around 14k
It is a night and day difference! Glad you were able to get your issue resolved under warranty, and that is an interesting one too.
- Hopefully look out in the next fastrack for letter #37232, where I asked for clarification on if 23/24 GRCs can use 25 shocks. SAC sent it to the SEB last month. -Still no word on my letter to release us GRCs from our BS camber jail back to DS. C’mon SAC!
You can use the shocks, just not the springs. I don't believe the new shocks will work correctly with the 23/24 springs, but only time will tell. There have been a lot of us that put in letters this past year, especially after Nats, asking about going back to DS. Nothing has been mentioned about the GRC in the past few fastracks, so my guess is they may say something in 2025.
eh, it’s kind of a grey area, since the 25 shocks have an added rebound spring inside the shock body. Do the rules not care, do they consider that a spring, do they consider that a bump stop? That’s the clarification I’m after.
As long as the shock can mount the same as OEM, there isn't an issue. That's why MCS' are allowed with all of the damping adjustments and stuff, cause they can use the same OEM spring and mounting technique.
One of the largest issues with reruns at Nationals is that the Grid chiefs are not on the same radio as grid so when they need to make ruling it has be bounced to the timing trailer then back to grid which is unacceptable. When cars are on the clock and many cars are on the clock the chief needs to be there to make rulings immediately. This year at Nationals now that I know more people I just asked the chief to be traveling around so that we could get rulings quickly.
I think communication between key stations is definitely a big factor in making these events go smoothly.
Isn’t the R32 AWD? How’s that fair for the Fiesta Hatch in STH? Was already outclassed, but geez. Complete dead end now.
It is AWD, but it is also naturally aspirated. So there is some leeway there to having the FiST be competitive against it. You also need to remember that the WRX is classed in GST as well haha.
@@907thpeterson there are a few AWD cars already in STH. WRX Forester XT TT quattro Mazdaspeed6 Lancer Ralliart Eclipse GSX Mk6 Golf R Saab 9-2X
My clutch pedal started making squeaking noises when engaging around 26K miles, had it for almost a year. I have spirited drives with it but commuting for the most part also. Haven't done any tracking or autocross in it. Starting to think the factory clutches weren't made with quality if other owners are having clutch issues,at way less miles at that. Might as well go stage 2 clutch instead of OEM if we're going to have warranty and getting overcharged by the dealerships.
Glad to see the Mazda6 Turbo finally got STAC's attention. I hope they class the Mazda3 Turbo and CX-30 Turbo in the future 🙏 Also... congrats on 1k subs!
Would be cool to see more Mazda platforms out there again for sure. And thanks! Got a few plans for 2025 so hoping to grow more haha
Happy Holidays!! Hope everyone's holiday season has been great! What did we think of this months fastrack?
Probably should update this video to point out the stock motor mount is not broken and that is how it comes from factory on all cars. This has been heavily discussed by now
@GR_FIRERARIZZ honestly a good idea to do this. I will probably put that on the list to do sooner rather than later. I have definitely seen quite a bit of talk about the flashing on the rmm's over the past year. I did end up getting a spare eventually, and it does seem to be normal for them to have slight deformities for the flashing in the section that has the gap between the metal. But, regardless of the flashing looking like that from factory, the motor mount that I had replaced under warranty was the cause of my symptoms, and the techs did say it was seemingly defective when they tested the mount itself and with driving the car before and after replacement. Maybe the wear was induced more cause of autoX/track stuff, but so far, the new one hasn't given me those symptoms.
Abuse your car then make a video about it!
@@DennisBoyko-n7d using as marketed* fixed it for you 🤙
Who resurfaced your rotors, I haven’t had any luck finding someone to do it for me.
I'm not joking when i say this lol, a local O'Reillys resurfaced my rotors. I was skeptical at first, but they were able to do it. And many daily drives, autocrosses, a track day, and rallycross weekend later, they are still holding up great!
I'll be honest, you overdid it with the grease. You don't grease the pins like that. You're creating an area for dirt and brake dust to stick. It does absolutely nothing positive for the brakes. They also aren't greased from the factory.
@RuneRavenX if you're referring to the slide pins, you're probably right lol. I had the same thought afterwards, but they look fine right now, so no harm, no foul.
I was gonna buy a GR. But now... I have a 2015 corolla S . Got it brand new..it has almost 200 miles. It's a 6 speed. Not one thing ever went wrong with this car other than changed the battery and brakes. Now im thinking i will wait another couple of years to get a GR. Do these tjings catch on fire regularly?
The GRC is a fantastic car. Don't let this situation necessarily deter you, and no, they don't catch fire often at all. The clutches being defective seem to be mostly for some cars in the '23 MY, or at least built in '23. I know many '23 owners that have more miles than me or have done the same amount, or more, of autocross/track stuff that I have done with the car that haven't had the clutch issue yet. As stated in my videos, the new clutch that Toyota put in (or maybe even the new throwout bearing) has the clutch system feeling significantly different and better in every way. This being said, I am still getting messages regarding both '23 and '24 clutches go8ng out the same way as mine, the majority of which are just from daily driving. So these are isolated incidents, but still cause for concern.
@happyhills_garage I'm gonna hold off for a couple more years. My current corolla was rust sprayed. Before it saw 1 candian winter. The car is so reliable. I'm sure toyata will work out the issues in the future models.
@worer850 honestly not a bad car to hold onto haha. Especially if you are keeping up with the maintenance, especially in cold climates like that. I don't blame you about waiting for another gen or two either. I think the 2025's worked out quite a bit (bit not all) of issues from the 23 and 24s, though.
@happyhills_garage 2015 S 240k The only thing that has gone on it is the drivers side rear power lock doesn't open from outside. ... but I never use the back seats, so lol I won't buy anything but toyota. Ny precarious was integra gs. 98 built in Japan. Another super reliable car 👌 had 420ks.
2024 20 000kms, 0 Clutch issues.
Great offers! Thanks HappyHill!
My first thought it that it could also be a difference in torque wrenches. I would guess that the ones that are used at the factory are calibrated often and more accurate than the ones we all own. Is the 37 ft/lbs for only the 14mm bolts? I guessing that it's not for any of the smaller 10mm bolts but it was hard to see what you were pointing to at the end.
@@jimsgaragetoys Sure, their tools are consistently calibrated compared to the majority of ours, but the nuts moved about a quarter turn or so before fully torquing. That seems pretty substantial either way. Not to mention that practically every GRC owner I know (at least in the AutoX community) have them the same way mine were. Hell, I even think they are loose again cause I hear squeaking around that area now. Could be something else, but this is going to be the first thing I check. I only talked about and primarily showcased the strut top mount nuts in the video, so yes, the 37 ft/lbs of torque is for the 14mm nuts.
@@happyhills_garage I was picturing that you got a 1/4 turn on them before you heard a click for the torque. This could be that they were torqued properly but the torque wrench was different. Hard to say without seeing exactly what you saw and felt. I checked mine and they were fine. I should do the German torque of Gut-in-tight and see what that torque reading shows. 🤣
What deals are you taking advantage of this year??
Dress up bolts! It's the small things sometimes. It might be something only I'll ever see, but it makes the car feel more special.
@kameronrachell1521 absolutely! As long as you like how the car looks or feels, nothing else matters
The video was 19 minutes of all the details of installing that performance rear sway bar, but you never went for a test drive to tell us how the new sway bar improved the car's performance... Why not..??
Maybe cause the video is an install video? 🙃
Where did you get the camber tool kit?
Technically they're crash bolts lol, but you can buy them from Toyota's parts site. I believe I have the link in the description of the video.
This will pop up code for (open PCV) system. It did several times on mine. If you do not have a code scanner you will have to take to the dealership which will cost about $150.00 to clear ir. I have looked on the container before removal and found no oil deposit in the catch can. It was on for a year (8000 miles).
It doesn't pop a code unless you have a pinched line during installation or have an aftermarket intake system. True, there is very little oil that gets caught from normal driving, but that is apparently true for all of the catch cans for the GR Corolla from friends I've talked to
I've gotten mine to start depositing after taking it to the track 5 times. It isn't much but it's working. I cannot get the P2C90 to go away, even after replacing the line thinking it was pinched. I really want to figure out how to program the computer to ignore this code because it comes on every 2 to 5 times the car turns on after a few minutes of driving.
Are you happy with car?
Absolutely
@happyhills_garage cool
Is yours tuned to get it to redline like that ?? Mine won’t go into redline while parked lol
It is absolutely not tuned lol. What you have to do is: 1. Make sure it's warmed up, and 2. Press the clutch in, then rev it! (May have to put it into an gear while the clutch is in, but i think it works in neutral as well 🙂)
Very interesting on the part number, i wouldn't put it past Toyota; we were the early adopters and typically get outclassed by an update pretty quickly. I may pursue this.
Definitely do! They changed the parts for 2024 and are rolling out a bunch of manual transmission part updates for the 2025s
How about mine started at 8,300 miles same way pictures look fine but the flywheel is burned which clearly shows the pressure plate is not up to spec to deal with HP/Torque the G16-GTS is producing.
Were you able to have it replaced under warrnty/reimbursement? That is way lower mileage than mine was at
