Sounds beautiful. Love David Crosby’s music. But is it safe to tune the A string up to a B without it snapping?
Hey Adam! It is possible but like with all of these tunings I recommend going slow. Also the older the strings the more likely they are to snap. If you’re still worried you can always move the whole tuning down a step.

Great video Josh, thanks for sharing this fun tuning. I discovered this tuning on guitar tuning database a few years ago and used it when I composed my track Mortal Coil. I find this tuning is great for chords and arpeggios.

Reminded me of the tuning for "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls but I checked and they used B D D D D D. Then I thought of "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" by CSN&Y but I checked and Stills was tuned to E E E E B E. So I guess you could say its kind of a hybrid between those 2 tunings. Did you have to customize the string guages? Seems like it would be difficult to achieve with a standard set.
Yes! I haven’t been able to find this tuning anywhere else yet either but it’s probably out there somewhere. I’m using all standard string gauges, the high e string is a little dicey but other than that it’s very doable.
Very interesting tuning. Thanks for sharing. It will be a change of pace for me to try instead of the open G & D tunings I’m playing around with.
