    Cool design! most of my splitting is done alone too considered your lift table design. I did check out that Gorillabac 3803 log lift that drags the wood to my splitter, lifts it and holds it when splitting. Got one and would never go to anything else. Really lets me get wood up that I could not do before. The prime big wood and gnarly stuff that doesnt roll is easy to get and split. It fits on my old Huskee and most any horizontal vertical splitters. Plus Made in the USA too

    Bill, That is such a great design! We went through a similar build project but ended up with a jib crane lift. The nice thing is that it pulls the log to the splitter too. Then lifts, positions and holds the wood for splitting. Please check it out. @UCLhUuK3G5fRmntum38NObRw . it is a Gorillabac log lift and easily hooks to a pickup truck hitch for loading wood or deer too.

    Bill, can you describe the interchange of cars with CSX? PV's connection is trailing for CSX in the westbound direction so my guess would be CSX from West Springfield backs north to PV's yard with deliveries, pulls out cars waiting to leave, and then continues east. I know a lot has changed at CSX lately but I have an old reference that shows local B730 as the West Springfield - Pittsfield Turn. Maybe PV and the Housatonic RR in Pittsfield are both serviced by this CSX job? I enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing them.

      B730 does the interchange for PVRR. Q424 drops off in Pittsfield and Q425 picks up in Pittsfield

    Bill....Great Splitter!!! Wow, really ingenious. We have been working on an attachment to make splitting more efficient and safer too. Search Gorillabac Log Lift and check out another way of how to "Get Your Wood Up". The only tool that will pull, lift and position your wood.......... for splitting. Save your Back and let a Gorillabac do the work.

    Bill: - Wow, I was impressed with Part II which I saw first. But this one is even BETTER. You did a hell of a job.. BTW, you mentioned the RR telephone box next to the diamonds. I many, many years ago I actually used that phone to call the NY center to tell them somebody, (probably a bunch of kids), had packed the crossover with glass and trash. I told them I would do my best with a stick to clean out the track grooves. Everything turned out okay. Also recalled was a crossover track that joined the main track and the passing track at this point. That old black RR bridge was also used for storing PVRR cars , I remember seeing them out there. Tons of memories !!!

    • @billmitnik8071
      @billmitnik8071 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the fact that you used the phone to call the RR. One time my son and I saw a hotbox that was REALLY hot, and we yelled at the caboose guy about what we saw. He must have called the engineer because shortly, the train stopped for awhile (probably to let it cool a bit) then proceeded slowly to the West Springfield yard. Keep going. Eyes open. No fear. Hold ontoGod's hand!
