Clifton, Virginia - Disney’s America Site - Occoquan Regional Park
A visit to three places in Northern Virginia with my dog Cookie on November 16, 2024:
A walking tour of downtown Clifton, Virginia with historic homes and local history. www.cliftonva.gov
A visit to Silver Lake Regional Park in Haymarket, Virginia, Prince William County, on the site of the planned Disney's America theme park, a Walt Disney Company project led by CEO Michael Eisner that was proposed in 1993 and abandoned in 1994, after opposition in the local and regional community and disappointing early results for EuroDisney, now Disneyland Paris. www.visitpwc.com/listing/silver-lake-regional-park/460/
Correction: I only mention commercial development at the Haymarket site. There has also been other development, including houses, a country club, schools, churches and a health center.
And finally, a quick stop at Occoquan Regional Park, including lunch at the Brickmaker's Cafe, a stop at the water with Cookie, and a visit to my Trailex trailer in storage there. www.novaparks.com/parks/brickmakers-cafe clcboats.com/shop/recreational-vehicles/teardrop-camper/

Visiting the Firestone building and the site of my grandparents' home in Kokomo, IN - 10/23/2024
มุมมอง 314หลายเดือนก่อน
I visited Kokomo, Indiana on October 23, 2024 to see the Firestone building at 219 N. Union Street. It is about an hour drive due north from Indianapolis. My grandfather Max Cork worked in the building in 1930's. He was born in 1915 so he would have been 21 when he started working there in 1936. He died in 1970 and I have only vague memories of him. At the time of this recording work was underw...
Camper and Shed Project Update - Feb. 4, 2024
มุมมอง 1739 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are building a Chesapeake Light Craft teardrop camper, and we also built a shed to store it in between build sessions! More updates to follow when the weather warms up. This is certainly the largest woodworking project that I have undertaken - sub-assembly of a number of parts is already complete inside the basement. The camper is made mostly of wood and will be covered with fiberglass cloth...

interesting town, thanks for sharing!
It sure is! Thank you.
I am not sure you are aware but the city plans to tear down the Firestone building very soon. You visited just in time. I lived in Kokomo for 40 years and was once the president of the Historic Review Board.
@@CharlesDuncan-g2z thank you for your comment - yes, that was why I visited this week - did not want to miss seeing the building.
Dude/are you fucking serious??? stop just stop everyone knows its bullshit
Thanks so much for this tour. It brought back great memories of my dad and I doing this many years ago.
I am glad you enjoyed it - I have great memories of giving my late parents a tour!
Nice little tour. Thank you for sharing. I get the feeling if I ever got into that place, I wouldn't leave for a month. I would be staring at each exhibit in awe for hours. Thanks again. C. PS - I only just noticed your surname, so I had to add this.... Greetings from Cork, Ireland!!
Thank you, it’s definitely a cool place!
Memorials are dogma and mean nothing. Lives were lost and people will forget. Would be a better idea to construct low-cost housing over this land so that LIVING people might actually have a chance to live.
🤣😅😆😂 You're pathetic. Hilarious, but pathetic.
you do NOT win the congressional medal of honor. period
You are absolutely correct. I should have said recipient. I have updated the video description.

Apollo 1
Such an unremarkable gravestone for the late, great John Glenn. Probably just the way he wanted it.
I was just thinking about that. Rest in peace to an amazing American. (And Annie, too.)
I remember when they interviewed Laurel before the launch. she said when she got back she would have a story to tell I wanted to here her story. may they all forever R.I.P.
Death is such a hard thing to deal with. The caretakers of Arlington National Cemetery are doing a wonderful job of honoring these heroes.
No, they are mowing grass and pulling weeds. The dead are long gone.
Changing of the guard is very powerful and emotional to see.I'll never forget it
Thank u so much for this. I was there as a child
Note. John Glenn is also the oldest man in space.
At that time, he was, yes!
@@RobCorkSpeaks Redo. Glenn is still the oldest astronaut in space.
Thank you for making this video. I was particularly struck by the simplicity of Audie Murphy's tombstone. That modesty is much more becoming than something grandiose.
There's another Audie Murphy memorial at his crash site just off the Appalachian Trail in SW Virginia, takes a little bit of getting to as it's on a mountain ridge but you can drive there. More elaborate with a flagpole and many have left mementoes there, eg many dog tags.
I agree, the simplicity of the headstones is beautiful. My Dad is also buried in a veterans cemetery with a standard headstone.
The fake shuttle, it did its job
I saw this in the Smithsonian when I was an 18 yr old fresh navy recruit. It is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting this I had forgotten all about the restoration.
Another step for mankind if only graves
Have you visited the x-15 pilot Scott cross field here??
Not yet I will have to do that in the future!
Have you visited the x-15 pilot Scott cross field here??
Not yet, plan to at some point.
I often think of lifespan of people in cemeteries. Its amazing how quickly all are born, live, die on this rock. Think about it. in 100 years 99.9999% of us will wind up here. In just 100 years therefore EVERYBODY that you knew during your entire lifetime will be gone (along with you). In fact only half of us globally will celebrate our 60th year. Nope we are not here for very long.
Much respect and gratitude for our brave men and women who have served our nation well. Thank you and GODSPEED🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That was a great tribute to your dad! Thanks so much for sharing it.
Very impressive Machine keep up the great site cheers Michael Svenson Australia
I attended this convention too and recorded a lot of footage of it. This is what content of that convention I have on my youtube channel now. Power Rangers Q & A panel, the cosplay contest, and a music video of the merchandise and artwork. I'm working on a cosplay music video now.
What a beautiful way to share memories of you Dad and to remember the wonderful times you spent with him.
A beautiful tribute to a wonderful relationship!
Brilliantly done!
Thank you, it was fun making it!
