Wow, thanks amazing BCL power station snapshots and good to see one of PNG man and a New Irelander Cosmas Vali within the team. He later when up to OTML got another 20years and 25years at current Lihir God. He already resign in start of the COVID 2019 at Lihir, now he must be at his beautiful place in Kavieng.❤❤❤

When I was a kid I had the opportunity to see this magnificent structure ❤

yes I was up there in the 69/71 crew when old man Moses was collecting money from the boys in camp 10 ,his idea was to buy back the mine for the local people ,we were under Oneil industries working for Beavis and bartell plumbing we had a crew down at the power station site and a crew around the mining buildings

An exotic island Went to Arovo Island with my mum & dad as a 9 yr old with sisters Dorothy and Heni and brother Peter on several occasions between 1972 - 1975. I also attended Tupukas Primary school.Did Grd 2 - 5 there. Brings back a lot of good memories.

The Region has a special place in my heart. I was born in Bouganville when Panguna was just starting. Thankyou for those pictures, specifically the Waterfall at Rumba mission, and kieta. I will visit the island some day soon. Thankyou very much Bob.

Thanks in a million for this yester years peak into the past on Bougainville,North Solomons back then. I just loved the pristine environment so cool and very charming on a daily basis as shown vividly. I missed my chances of being denied by my maternal grand parents to go to small Buka in 1988.That's when the crisis broke out but to this I hope to see the Autonomous Region of Bougainville one fine day.TA!

I used to walk over that power station cause it was built under ground next to the beach when I was a young boy. Never seen anything like that anywhere else. Only in Bougainville.. Thanks for the Video.❤

Nice photos but as a bouganvillian this is utter bullshit and crap of how you have introduced the history of bougainville. The fact that you say in earlier comment you were there indicates pure negligence. Shame on you get the facts right.

you dont really understand the whole picture you started by assuming the landowners just woke up one day and started the war when oz and png gov where asked afew times to negotiate they went even to high court of australia you better get your facts right cobber befire making such simple claims

good video mate but you missed alot of the history of the war how and why it started The war did not just started in 1989 it was brewing since pre 1970s up the deal was made by oz gov and png gov you did not tell why and how it started you mention the actual landowners who had the greivenous with png gov totally wrong

I was there, George took me there on our 30 foot banana boat

I stayed there i the early 70's as a young boy

But now local Business Houses are slowly rebuilding those buildings 💯

This was the best time of Solomon Islands. The town was clean and green. No beliga. Jobs were available, no pothole on the road even backway roads. Honiara now is not like used to be.

Great job Bob . Yes lots of good memories.I was only there for 12 months. 1970/1971 working on the port power house . Staying in camp 6 I think. . Shame that such a beautiful part of the world,, with lovely people now looks like this . Many thanks Bob .. cheers Jim Hudson. The tea maker .

Now well into my 70's, I spent over 7 years on Bougainville, with BCL in B16. from end of 1970. Loved every day there except for a tragic event when my then wife was assaulted in our Arawa Sect 16/69 house. Miss it and the friends I made there, though several have since passed and sadly, some were victims of the unrest. Gee I stayed at Camp 1 for a year and then Kaweronh Haus, before marrie accom came my way. Loloho, Birempa, Panguna and Arawa, are indelibly melded in my heart. "Bougainville, Maus Bilong San Kamap"
