Big Bucks For Big Bucks: Hunting Stereotypes | Raised Hunting Podcast #128
If you are a hunter, then you have probably heard about all the stereotypes we all get stuck with. Whether you hunt public or private ground, you are the rich hunter or the just average blue collar hunter, there is a stereotype that targets every type of hunter. Odds are that is you have been hunting for a while, you may know some people that fall into the categories of stereotypes. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we break down a few of these in a humorous and controversial way to see whether or not we agree with some of theses stereotypes. We also dive into a question from one of our podcast listeners. The question up for discussion is, how many hunters out there are paying massive amounts of money to shoot massive deer? The topic of this question comes from hunters that will come from out of state and pay farmers for a leases just to shoot one specific buck. So if you guys enjoy the fun family banter on the podcast, then you guys are in for a real treat today!

    I'm really but to upset with CJ.... shouldn't have lied but idk he whole thing just doesn't make me upset. Why do yall want to assault him? I also dont really understand why yall and him to go to jail either? The read out his punishment and it seemed like he didn't get off lightly as well. I personally think it's too easy for someone who's never been to jail to send others. If they knew what it were really like then they would almost certainly sing a different tune. I'm looking coast to the new story I the first one sad entertaining for life 6 months and, it wasn't even real so so i damn sure want to know snag really happened!

    You know we had the same problem when they legalize compound bows. They legalized compound bows. We were finding so many dead wounded deer in the mountains. Pathetic with that note. I am definitely definitely done listening to you guys. Have a nice freaking day.

    Most crossbow kills are under 30 yards. You guys better get your information right cause this is a really really bad and I used to like you guys. I can tell you one thing I won’t be watching Ray hunting anymore or buying more products often than if this is the way you guys feel because you guys don’t have a clue what you are talking about not even close.

    You guys have the crossbow so misunderstood it is pathetic. You still have side in the average crossbow only shoots 350 ft./s they’re not accurate for more than 50 yards or you can hit paper or make a hole in paper. You’re not gonna kill anything you guys do not have your information together not even close to what we had but we compared to keep compound bowsout of shooting in archery season. Your records are way way off.

    OK, my big thing is I’ve been a boat hunt for years. I shot 44 deer with a recall shot shot more deer with recur than any other bow back when they first came out with compounds they did not want to leave compound funders in the Penn, Pennsylvania hunters Association and they did not want compound hunters hunting at the same time Now in the meantime I’ve had seven strokes. I’m parked paralyzed on my right side. I’m shooting a compound bow right now, but I don’t have a down to 30 pounds. I don’t have enough to kill a deer but I do have a crossbow just so I can still go out and enjoy archery season. That is my biggest concern. What you are going through right now with crossbows it’s the same thing we went through years ago with compounds they were trying to say that compounds weren’t legal because compounds were not an older weapon.

    Great episode guys. Glad you liked the calls. This topic is a tricky one and there is no right answer. But, people need to understand that just because something is legal doesn't mean it is right. I struggle every year with this. I expect people to have the same morals and ethics as me, but I have to understand that not everyone grew up like I did. Also, on the public versus private issue. Coming from Pennsylvania most of the private gets just as much pressure as the public. But, if you put your time in you can still get on nice deer. Hope you all have a Happy New Year. God bless.

    Merry Christmas Fellas, here's my opinion. Everyone is paying, whether it's in sweat-equity or Benjamin's. We all watched Lee go to Ohio, the guy put in the legwork all summer longs, banging doors, offseason scouting, all of it. He outworked everyone in the area. Then you have guys like you guys, you put the work in for years on the same farms to get the mature bucks that you want to shoot. Then there are others who are paying their way to a nice buck. At the end of the day everyone is paying just in different forms of currency.

    David, I understand your point, Your saying managing and owning your own property and raising your deer heard is different than someone hearing about a Huge deer and paying to go shoot it. I agree I wish there was a way to manage that or not let it happen, I also hear the side of, if someone has enough money to go pay for that deer, than why not let them do it. It’s something that I don’t believe is manageable. Anyway, I love the Podcast, as Always

    Merry Christmas guys! Thanks for my sticker with the Christmas note with my podcast shirt! Is it too late to get a XXL? lol too many Christmas cookies! What it comes down to is “Money talks and people listen!” But whatever each of us can afford we just need to accept that others can afford different scenarios. The only thing I disagree with is when folks pay to hunt the high fence reserves and they call it hunting. It’s not hunting it’s target practice in live animals. Any way, paying to do a fair chase hunt is ok with me no matter the caliber of animal and cost (if one can afford it).

  • @buckydoedowner9040
    @buckydoedowner9040 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Im sure if your in the right line of the industry.. paying to kill those bucks could just be used as a tax write-off? Say if you run a youtube channel, and make $100k a year off of it. Paying 20-30k to kill a deer for content may be better than handing your money to uncle sam.

    I’m a licensed leashed tracking dog handler in nh for 17 seasons. Nh is a leashed only state with legal tresspass on land unless posted with signs. Nh is also the second most forested state in the USA. With one exception (deep swamp or lake where deer is floating in swimming depth water) there is no deer a drone could find (by a legal operator following both FAA and state drone rules and laws) that a leashed tracking dog (a well trained experienced dog with handler following all laws and rules) can’t find. Also, a dog handler can teach the hunter what the sign you are seeing while tracking means so that hunter can learn better eye tracking skills. And the sign and deer track behavior we see while tracking can tell us readily if the deer is terminal vs marginal survivable Many of our tracks are fairly far and maintaining drone line of sight (faa rule) would be a challenge for drones And in our state if we come on a dying but alive deer the licensed handler can dispatch the deer with a hand gun at short distance vs a drone where you (in most states drones are legal) you have to walk away leaving the deer to suffer Also drone operators charge hundreds to come out and here in nh we are legally forbidden to charge but can accept tips/donations so our trackers are available to all hunters regardless of wallet and for all size and sex deer bear or moose The boys point about flying a drone in the dark before legal light to scout is a valid concern as well as their point about people not being friendly about drones near houses Diane

    I wonder if these guys understand that the argument is long over. Crossbows aren’t going away! They will not be restricted either. They own the majority. I think what they’re really mad at is the thought that someone may get the deer they want. They throw their tantrum, all the while they couldn’t care less about anyone but themselves. They are helpless to change anything anymore.
