Hey my friend, borax helps to get impurities off the surface of metal, i use 999s fine silver, so pure basically, so there is hardly any impurities in it, so i dont use the borax, if you are doing say gold which is not pure you would need to use it, also with silver etc, i do however glaze the dish with borax, hope this helps.

@@SilverPunkPour thank you for getting back to me I am honestly just learning and becoming obsessed I thought the borax helped heat the metal as well and remove impurities thank you for clarifying and for teaching me that you have to prime with borax or it would stick not many people throw that but of information in
