I literally purchased a CD player yesterday for my father who is 87, has dementia and is in a care home. He loves Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra and I’m taking the CD player into the home today. Your wise are so wise.

Right again, Norm. We didn’t even get a leaflet! I did my own research but I dread to think what happens to people who don’t have any family to find out things and help them. To be fair, in Scotland we have access to a support worker from Alzheimer’s Scotland for one year after diagnosis, but I don’t think people in England get anything. My mum wouldn’t engage with the support worker, but at least they were willing to try.

Hello Norman from Devon: Thank you for sharing your experience since being diagnosed with Dementia. I am presently taking UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA online as a MOOC ( Massive Open Online Course ) from the University of Tasmania in Australia. It is August, 2021 and most of these comments were posted 5 or 6 years ago. I hope you are still with us.

Thanks so much Norman. I am doing an on-line dementia course from the Uni of Tasmania. I'm very glad that you were diagnosed early so could get your affairs in order, inform family and special others so that you have their understanding and support and now have an opportunity to make the most of your life prepared with knowledge and supportive resources. All the very best!

I truly admire you, Norman, for your comprehensively advanced thinking. And yes, the message you just mentioned, is very powerful! "I am LIVING with dementia" as opposed to "I am dying with dementia." It is the first time I have heard it, so far, since I have been working as a Recreation Assistant.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I cared for my father-in law but he is in nursing home now. Visited him again today. He says hello and did not say anything at all..I feel so sorry for him. We need more education on dementia so many people can be aware of what to do, and how to cope with it in caring for a family. Appreciate your being brave in sharing with us.

People that are not familiar with Lewy Body Dementia have no idea. Even my family thinks my husband is just fine when they see him for an hour or so. Unless someone is with the person all day and night, they don't really get it. LBD isn't always an "all day" thing. I've told my husband he is good at keeping his secret 😉.. I love him and just want him to have as full a life as he can have. So we just go about everyday like any other day, I just am with him always if he needs me. Thank you for your videos, they do help.

I have been watching different videos and I thank each and every person that was brave enough to make these videos for people that are going through this. They have really helped people. My husband has hallucinations every night all night, and then early in the morning. God bless you. I have just started videoing him to keep a record
