I don't know about the rest of the stuff but about 75% of yhe classic car ads are scammers. So sad we live in a world where scumbags don't get punished.
"You receive an email" FULL STOP. Delete email.
Excellent video One more advice is a motto A online sucker is born every minute Money back guarantee is a fantasy
This is especially true if you find the site by clicking on an ad such as one on instagram. Instagram does nothing to prevent fraudulent ads on their app. Also when doing google searches very often the first few results are ads.
Watch out for some products advertised on TH-cam, a bit dubious to say the least,
Thats why i use paypal NEVER use card number if they dont use paypal i dont buy it and Never answer email that say there has bin a problem Call the company they say they r directly Look it up and buy phone Not any link or number they show in email
Just a note from someone very familiar with online sales. Everyday, between 10%-15% of our sales are declined by the bank. This is normal. The vast majority of these declines are because the customer is shipping to an address other than the billing address or they are over their limit. 99% of the time the customer will call their bank and give them the merchant name and amount and the card will then go thru. I just wanted to bring this up because not every "decline" is a scam, in fact most are not. If you have a card and you know it's good, but still get a decline you should not give the website another card, you should call your bank right then and there. Repeat: If you know the funds are there or you are not over your limit, there is no reason to give another card. Call your bank first thing.
If this happens stop your card
If the banks do sort this out . Who is going to trust on line banking.this is why we need cash
it’s Good to put an app on your iphones and computers where it notifies you when you enter fraud websites. I have Guardio. There’s others you can try as well. It also helps with not getting scam calls.
The perils of technology. Do so at your own risk. I don't have a credit / debit card. I don't do online shopping, banking. I had FB and messenger because of the pandemic induced WFH. I post nothing on FB. I plan to restrict it. People say i'm so out of sync with the times. So be it. I need peace.
I have a special account I use for online shopping. If I want to make a purchase I transfer in only enough for that transaction. There is never more than a few cents extra in that account. I know of one time a scammer tried to con me and it was prevented . Perhaps there were scam attempts I wasn't aware of. Doesn't matter. They wouldn't get anything from that account.
Great video, thanks
Calling bank is scary too
I buy prepaid Visa debit cards if I ever have to buy anything online and the Visa debit cards prepaid are behind the counter at your local drugstore. I've never put my bank information online or my debit card to paranoid
Excellent educational video.
Can authorities do anything about this? The NSA maybe?
This is why I mostly shop at Amazon. While not all vendors on Amazon are legit, most are and Amazon will most often back you if there is a problem. I've only had a couple problems and they were resolved.
That's why I always use PayPal. If the merchant does not use PayPal, I don't shop there.
If that happens..I just log out and stop the transaction.
Should you be talking so loudly in the library? ;-)
Why are you leaving out paypal payment system as retailer or scammer doesn't get your credit card number. Should they not take paypal move on.
Never call any credit card phone number EXCEPT phone number on back of credit card
Thanks for the great tips.
Before making the initial purchase: 1. Check the email address that sent you the offer, and check the email contents for any red flags 2. On the sales website check the website address and the website security (usually by left clicking on the symbol next to the website address in the address bar)
Thank you.
It's a good thing these scammers are stupid. Why have a message that says the card was declined that is likely to get the customer to call their bank which will lead to the illegal charge being declined and the card cancelled? If they just had a fake receipt pop up or email receipt then they'd have access with the card longer. As I said, most of these losers are stupid. Thank goodness.
Use a credit card, not a debit card, to purchase online. Then when you see the purchase on your bill, charge back the card. Do *NOT* use your own money to pay for online purchases. That's what credit cards are for.Regulation E means you're not responsible for unauthorized charges.
Good, sensible advice. If I want to buy on-line from a new ( to me ) supplier, I always telephone first and talk to them. If I can't talk to a real person I don't buy. There is always another supplier...
Thank you. Just talked to an old friend and he and his wife just got cleaned out of their accounts for a bunch of money. And they are just now getting back to normal. He told me that they seemed real and honest!!!
When shopping online I use the official app of the establishment, always. (Amazon forexample)
That’s why you always use a credit card not a debit card.
Unless I am shopping at a well-known retailer, I use PayPal.
NEVER use a debit card! Set text alerts for all credit card purchases over $1 ! NEVER respond to unsolicited email offers!
So, you get an email from a stranger and then give them your bank info, really? brilliant!
I was just stung by this through a "customer loyalty perk", just pay $14.95 for shipping on something that enticed me. Fortunately I did NOT whip out my other credit card, I knew this one was good. The credit card people contacted me with a scam alert and we shut the card off. Then I found your explanation of what just happened. Thank you.
I got a message like that. But no code was asked for. It felt like it was a scam. Would have bet it was a scam. But it wasn't. I was lucky. Very lucky. Thank you for the video. I will be more careful.
Don't trust the padlock or https
There is a character that looks almost exactly like an "a" but it is ever slightly different in appearance and is actually a different character. I am not referring to the @ symbol either. The one I am warning you of is a Cyrillic character.
NEVER USE DEBIT CARDS ON-LINE!
I'm planning to do some long distance air travel this year. This info is particularly helpful. Thank you.
Good info as always from your channel. Thanks.
My eyesight is bad. I thought the scam had something to do with sending a photo of “I verify it’s legit” 😂 Thanks anyway
Thank you for this info..!
So this is normal phishing. Be careful where you shop and watch the actual URL link. Also only use a credit card, not your debit card.
Thank you. Good information. I do try to remember to check the URL when I'm making a purchase on a new site. Thank you for the reminder.
Another idea, I have one credit card that I use exclusively for on line purchases, it has a fairly low limit but high enough for any on line purchases I make.
ads on Facebook
Well done, thanks!
Temu has done this to my MC multiple times. So, I've never made a purchase from Temu. I find this suspicious so, I go back in and remove my CC info. I stopped trying to buy anything at Temu; guess I just don't trust the Chinese.
