Please don't downplay this video, I'm in my 60s and I knew what she meant, If we get the "Is this still available" just "right after it is posted" then it's possibly something to red flag. I'm grateful for this video and I'll be a little more cautious because times have changed and I need all the insight I can get to stay wise and protected... Thank you for your informative video.😊

Great vid. I put an ad on FB market place today about selling my used Samsung tablet ($300) and got few interested buyers. All asked if I accept venmo, and asked for my email address. None of these buyers had any profiles on FB so I didn't feel comfortable giving them my email address. Most likely its a scam.

PayPal is the safest payment platform I would use. We don’t have the problems you have in USA, here where I live. No one can pick up anything where I live same day. Lolol we know everyone here. It’s a Pueblo.

When Facebook started charging taxes for the government, I quit using that site.

My red flags are when the buyer's details are a pic of a young pretty girl with a strange name.

"Is it available" is actually a canned response that Facebook marketplace puts in the chat.

I live in the seattle area and was looking for dining table. I text back and forth a few times and when i asked for her address so I could pick it up she gave me an address and when I couldn't find it I called her again she said it wasn't in seattle but boston Mass. She apologised fot the mistake.

Use common sense when selling! I will not give out my phone number nor will I meet or deliver. My items are porch pickup only. I always check their Facebook account and if no info on it, I may block as I don’t trust them. I’ve been selling for almost six months and have had no problems. My biggest complaint is no shows with no explanation!

The one i see in England a lot is someone selling a bulky item ie A sofa, Garden furniture etc saying " I can deliver " usually for a small fee £30 ish so people think well bring it and if i decide not to buy ive only lost £30, the item NEVER gets delivered and is still for sale for a few days afterwards which no doubt plenty of others have also lost there £30s , great video

If you are stupid enough a criminal having your social security number is not going to be used for crimes, I dare you to give your social security number to Identity theft criminal. You'll find out real quick that they used your social security number to buy a house or a car or an apartment or whatever and now you are on the hook for those things. YOU.

I never answer my phone. All calls go to voice mail. Most scammers will not leave a message. Some will however so don't assume that just because they leave a voice mail its legit. I keep a burner phone in addition to my regular phone. When I get a call that's not on my contact list and they don't leave a message, I'll call that number on the burner phone to investigate it. Most of the time the scammer won't answer. It goes to some automated response.

I find the easiest way is to have them call you, oftentimes scammers are foreign and have accent 😮and a phone that is not USA. Scammer done. They leave u alone after that. It’s rare a scammer will ever call you. Just don’t give them the Google code. Lol

I have been a victim of this for the last 8 years. I still dont have a current number because a gave up. I am in Australia and the police disregard everything. So does my server which is Telstra. I haven't tried for months although every device 8 are in the control of a Narcissist I know.

I don't use Facebook. I don't use ebay, Amazon, etsy. If I want something I go to the store and buy it.

Another clue is “my movers are helping me with moving my stuffs”. Stuffs? I always respond with “ FB requires that all communication between buyers and sellers be through the Messenger platform”. My listings are always “cash preferred, please”. I’ve told the scammers “cash preferred is no a polite suggestion”. Never give your street address until you’re sure the buyer is on their way. Don’t give out an email address either.

Service rep isn’t tricked. It’s usually an inside job. Good info. Worked at a phone company. It’s dangerous and scammers abound.
