    I'm over 60 and thinking of getting an eTrike, though I don't see the purpose of getting an electric bike. The purpose of getting a bike or trike is to get exercise, I'll probably get the non-electric. Any advice on my decision?

    If getting in and out is a bit of a hassle that handles are needed, you might consider a Greenspeed Magnum- the seat being adjustable for angle and height makes for a very easy trike to enter/exit. My big wheel model makes no seat noises after 1500km use. I'm 54 and 117kg, no disabilities so have no issue standing unassisted from the lowest seat height. It can go 100mm (4") higher for those who need it. Solid trike with 160kg rider limit, so tough for loading up touring. I too fitted a basket on the rack- a chest freezer basket and zip tied a rabobank sports bag in it for shopping and to keep my phone secure, not to mention tools and spare batteries etc.

    • @lauriedevere4920
      @lauriedevere4920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My cardiologist jogs the same path I pedal. I had a double bypass in 12/2020 fortunately they caught it before I had a stroke or heart attack. The surgeon asked me in recovery if I was an athlete because me heart was very muscular and a good size for my age...and my calves are like steel lol... Back then I was only doing 8-10 miles a day... now on non rainy days when the sun is out I try to do 15+ miles or more if my little furry companion is ok with it lol. my body makes cholesterol like it's going out of style so I am on meds and cut out a lot in my diet to be a little healthier.

    • @lauriedevere4920
      @lauriedevere4920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave had a quadruple bypass, and they replaced a straight artery that was collapsing. He had a virus (I can't remember the name of it, but it's the same one that killed Gweneth Paltro's father and the Muppet guy) that ruined his heart. He is very fit, which is what made him survive the virus, and recover from the operation.

    Interesting. I ordered a "kayak shade" that I want to put on my trike, and I have a flexible 100 watt solar panel I want to hook up to be able to recharge the battery for my mid drive motor. Pedal assist is a big helper on hill's. I am from the US, in NJ I stay with my elderly mother but also have my own home in Pa in the pocono mountains...lots of beautiful land to explore. I have three 24" wheels which helps for off roading.

    • @lauriedevere4920
      @lauriedevere4920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave made his own rain cover, because he wasn't happy with the ones you buy. When he did his long overland trek he had a small solar panel to power his batteries. He does think pedal assist is the way to go as we get older. I hope your mother's health stays good for a long while yet.

      Oh, good! The trike will keep you moving. We met a lady who'd been in a very bad car accident which killed her husband. She started out with a hand controlled recumbent, then she went to an ordinary recumbent, then she finally got back on a diamond frame! She really impressed me with the way she fought back against being crippled. I"m convinced recumbents will keep us going.

    Nice, thank you for answering my question. Now I just have to see if I can find something like those in the States. I'm using two MTM Dry boxes right now. They are big enough, but I'd love em a tad bigger. I also had to use a 1x2 to raise the hooks up. What is the brand name of the bins?

      They are Mastercraft a Canadian Tire House brand.

    Nice set up. I ride a two wheeled recumbent that I upgraded with a Electric hub motor on the front wheel back in 2019. Now, those panniers/boxes on the back of your bike, did you make or buy those? I would very much like a set. Keep on riding and stay safe.

      We did a Q & A which answers several of people's questions and comments. Dave tells how he made the panniers/boxes for you.

      We are at the moment in Richmond, BC, but we're both from New Zealand, and are trying to get back there. My flags are a Canadian and New Zealand flag. Okay?

    New subscriber. That’s a nice setup, and nice rain gear! Awesome how you don’t let the rain stop you from riding 🙂
