I am 62 and I scooted. I was a 7 month baby too. I finished high school and went on and finished college later in life. I also did 26 years in the Air Force. I have neuropathy but no diabetes. Test showed my spinal Canal is narrow and it’s how I was born. I feel normal.

My youngest daughter was a butt scooter. She also was a gifted child. Always advanced. She knew her address and phone number by the time she was 18 months old. She was totally potty trained at 18 months old as well. Nothing wrong with that baby!

Here’s my take on this as a 32 yo man who did this. I think if the kid doesn’t have any major traumas, create a lot of stress etc, and have a loving upbringing, this will probably be fine.. But I mean that first time is so essential to develop muscles and muscle memory, as well as neuro connections, and isn’t it just obvious that a child who does this until walking will have lost extremely foundational training and stimuli for their body and also lacking those basic neurological pathways in some way? I have winged scapula for example and have a theory that the butt scooting have made my body more susceptible to stress and therefore gathering of pain and trauma which we now know manifest in the muscles. This again affect my facial muscles and capilar muscles, mouth, neck everything. I’m pretty sure if I wouldn’t have done this as a child, my body would have had a better foundation to build on further. You could say that I’ve been completely normal always, but now as I’m rehabilitating this and studying in detail the human body, I’m understanding all of our potential as human beings. Just because a person isn’t sick, or doesn’t have any problems, doesn’t mean he/she is necessarily healthy, and definitely not as healthy, strong, flexible and happy as they could and should be fulfilling their divine potential.

You're right, I just realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's crazy! Although what he previously talked about was pretty decent, it was difficult to follow, I just go'ogled the latest by Mario Volpstein, it's so much simpler and potent now!

I am 57 years old and I scooted as a baby I never crawled. I bypassed that whole section. Then found out I had learning disabilities. I have a lot of other stuff too though. Like I'm not good going up or down stairs. Downstairs for sure I have to look at every stair to make sure my foot lands on it. Also to this day my balance isn't the greatest I'll just randomly walk into a wall or kind of tilt into a wall. There were so many things that were all intertwined in the more I study the stuff the more I know there is something to it.

Neurodevelopmental disorders (like developmental coordination disorder) are there before there are any signs. The signs arent bad or wrong, they do signal an issue but they themselves arent an issue. For exaple, if a kid stims that is a sign of neurodivergence, but stimming is a good thing and should not be stopped. Scooting is actually normal in many cultures, look into Au children in Papua New Guinea scooting and look up “crawling is cultural”. Its important to learn to read evidence and that correlation doesn’t equal causation

I think you are wrong telling Moms that scooting on the butt is a problem. I think you could find hundreds or thousands of mothers who had scooting babies that never crawled and are perfectly normal neurotypical adults now. I would be one of those. My baby always made All the efforts to get around and he scooted wherever he wanted to go and at 11 months he stood up and walked. No problems…..he’s 19 no problems. Moms have enough things to worry about without adding something else to their already full plates.

What exactly are you talking about here? SSRIs? SNRIs? TCAs? Benzos? Barbiturates? Propranolol? Buspirone? Mirtazepam? Midazolam? Sedatives? Z drugs? Antihistamines? With all due respect, I think it’s a bit irresponsible to scare everyone with the harmful side effects of “anxiety meds,” when there are so many different classes of medication used for anxiety, each with distinctive mechanisms of action and different side effect profiles. If your goal is really to educate people, please don’t lump all “anxiety meds” together. You’re going to scare some poor mom who gave her kid Benadryl into thinking she gave him brain damage.
